A/N: I'm going to say SORRY again for it being so long. I have no real excuse besides school and lack of motivation. I didn't know what I was going to write next and with school making me write a lot I just needed a break. Here is the next chapter and the chapter after that will be in Jacob's POV. I plan on some things coming to light in the next couple of chapters and a fight scene. Please keep reading and I would love your feedback. Thank you for reading and please review. Thank you. Now, here is Chapter 16.

Faceless Moon Chapter 16

Leah's POV

It's been a week since the bonfire and my life has been chaos ever since. Of course, I had to be the one to patrol with Jacob. When I wasn't patrolling, I was taking on his responsibilities for the trip to Alaska. If I wasn't doing that, I tried to enjoy my time to myself or with my brother or Paul. Jake, of course, tried his hardest to talk to me, but I never answered him. He would call my name and say he's sorry fifty million times before I finally phased out and patrolled the area on foot. I knew I was supposed to tell him about the things that happened during his time of absents, but I just couldn't talk to him. When my time was up, I would phase back into my wolf form to let him know I was going home. I, then, ran to the house like my life depended on it.

Once everything was arranged for the trip to Alaska, Paul came over to spend his last day with me. Lately, Paul has been distant since Jacob came home and he hasn't been coming around as much. His excuse was his wolf didn't like me being around him. Now that he knew the supposed "outcome" to us, why bother. Of course, I wanted to ripe his throat out at that moment but I sided against it.

Jacob, also, wanted to come spend yesterday with me but I wouldn't let him. He still had to patrol all day, from what I thought. Until I found out that he got permission from the counsel to have yesterday off. Sam agreed to take his place, for whatever reason. Jacob, then, decided since he couldn't spend time with me he would spend with my brother at the house all day. So, unfortunately, my time with Paul was cut short the minute he chose to play video games with Jacob and my brother. By the end of the night, Jacob finally left and Paul and I went upstairs to my room to play a few games for ourselves.

Today is the day that Paul, Jared, Jacob, Quil and Billy fly to Alaska. Now, that's going to be an interesting flight. Paul is somehow being cordial to Jacob but Jared and Quil still hate his guts. Billy made me talk to Mason to make sure everything was arrange and the elders would be expecting their arrival. I guess he knew Jake wouldn't be able to do everything with the patrol schedule he had. Paul came down stairs with his bags in hand and sat his bag on the floor by the door before giving me a long hug goodbye.

"Do you have to go?" I asked Paul.

"You know I do. Even though you and Sam are Alphas, Billy is still the chief and head of the tribe. I have to do what he says." Paul answered with a gentle kiss on my nose and forehead. Paul pulled me tighter into his arms and buries his nose in my neck as if trying to remember my scent.

"Well, don't go up there and kill Jacob. You may hate him but he is still a part of this pack, no matter how much I hate it."

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. Besides trying to take you from me, Jake and I have an understanding. I totally understand why he is back now. Hell, I would have come back if I had to deal with what he had to go through with his imprint. However, it will come to a fight between me and him one of these days." It dawned on me what fight kind of fight he was talking about.

"No, Paul! You will not fight over me! It's you I want. You know that. And when did you and Jake come to this 'understanding'?" I knew that if they did fight, Jacob would win because of his Alpha lineage. Despite how strong Paul was Jacob was still stronger.

"Well, I talked to him before the bond fire and he told me what happened. I, then, caught him thinking about you while we were on patrols and made him show me everything." She searched my eyes for a reaction.

"That's why I said I understand him. And don't worry I won't fight him in Alaska. But I will have to fight him. The urge is strong even now. It's a wolf thing, I guess. My wolf wants to fight for the female. It's me that's holding back from doing so." I sighed.

"Whatever, Paul. Just come back to me safe please. And send my condolences to the family. Unfortunately, I have to stay here and make sure Embry and Seth stay out of trouble."

"I will. Oh, by the way, did Jacob ever find out how the chief died?" He asked after kissing me on the lips. I shook my head, no.

"Not that I know of. He never told me anything. He just kept apologizing for leaving. It was annoying! Every five minutes it was 'I'm sorry, Lee. Please forgive, me. I'm sorry.' Ugh!" Paul laughed.

"Yea well, you don't have to worry about that until we get back. You will be Jacob free for four days."

"Well, I won't be totally alone. Rachel will be here when you all get back. I'll be able to have some girl time with her." I smiled and kissed him.

"See, you'll be ok. Well, I have to go. I can hear your brother on his way back from picking up Billy and the boys." As soon as he said that, my brother pulls up to the driveway and honks his horn.

Paul gives me a long kiss before grabbing his bag and heading out the door. I walk out with him and wave to everyone in the car before walking back inside. The minute I heard the car pull off, I pull off my clothes, phase and run to the cliff that overlooks the highway. When I get to the cliff, I could see the SUV my brother rented pass by with Paul and Jacob seated on the right side of the back seats and Billy seated in the front seat while my brother drove. I howled at the sky as a slight ache in my heart started to mess with my emotions. Embry phased in to make sure everything was alright.

"Everything is fine, Embry." I assure him, then phase back to my human form. I sat on the cliff, naked, about an hour after I saw them.

I went home and laid on my bed thinking about that slight pain I felt on the cliff. My wolf knew what it was but I didn't want to accept it just yet. My heart didn't ache for the one I loved and wanted to be with for as long as I can. My heart ached for someone else. It ached for the person on the other end of that bond my brother told me about after the bonfire. It ached for Jacob. I sighed.

"What am I going to do now?" I asked my cat. She purred and curled on my bed beside me before falling asleep. I soon followed suit.

Jacob's POV

The flight back to Alaska was almost as bad as the drive to the Seattle Airport. The minute I saw Leah on the porch looking as beautiful as ever, I wanted to run up to her and kiss her goodbye. However, the minute Paul opened the car door, I could smell Leah all over him. It piss me and my wolf off. I get out of the car so Paul and climb in the seat behind me. I refused to sit behind him and smell Leah's scent on him the whole trip to the airport.

On the way to the airport, everyone was silent until my father asked how patrols were going. After reassuring him they were going ok, he scalded me on making Leah set up all the arrangements for the trip. What they didn't know was I called Mason and had him set up everything as soon as the bonfire was over. When Leah would phase out to get away from my annoying apologies, something I did on purpose by the way, I would call Mason to make sure everything was set up and going ok. I even called Jason to ask him about how his uncle died but he never answer. I'm now on the plane sitting next to Paul and enduring his scent mixed with Leah's. I sighed.

"This is going to be a long flight." Paul smirked.

"Tell me about it." He replied.
