I know that my chapters are always very short, but writing works better for me that way, as I never have much time to write longer passages in one shot.

Have fun reading.

"Tell me what you're thinking, Ziva."

"I… I have not been thinking anything important." Ziva stuttered. Why did this have to be Tali's moment to pay attention, when she would normally walk around the house all day, dreaming and humming to herself? But Tali was old enough now and she couldn't keep this secret forever. There had been more than one incident now, her father or Ari mentioning something about her work just when Tali entered the room, narrowing her eyes at the sudden silence.

"I may not have the same lie-detecting stare as Aba does, but that was definitely one of your worst lies ever!"

Okay, so this would be when she told her. She knew she had put this off far too long.

"Remember, when we were younger and Aba used to take us to the shooting range?"

"Oh, yeah, and he tried to convince me that shooting was fun…" At that, they both laughed. Tali had never been the one to be trained for Mossad. Unlike her siblings, she never dared to hold a loaded weapon in her hands, out of fear to hurt anyone. After a few months even Eli had had to accept that she (and of course he himself) would be better off if she had a normal education and career. Ziva's face grew serious again.

"Well, Ari and I never got the chance to see the world through your eyes. You fight with words, not weapons. We don't. You could never understand war, remember the time when you went to that demonstration? The one that ended with you in hospital, because of some suicide bomber who thought a peace demonstration was the best opportunity to get attention. You were shocked for weeks afterwards, always asking us why the man didn't just join the demonstration just as everyone else. We love you for your innocence and kindness.-"

"Where are you going with this, Ziva? You sound like there is something coming I'd rather not hear…"

"…I don't know how to tell you, tateleh…I really don't… I work for Mossad-"

"But I know that you work for M-" Tali threw in, impatiently.

"…but not the way you think. I 'm part of the Kidon Unit-"

But Tali did not let her finish her sentence.

"You're an assassin?! You kill people for money?" The last words were barely audible. Tears welled up in Tali's eyes.

"Tali, believe me, people don't get targeted if they're innocent."

"So that is your justification for killing?" She asked totally calm now, too calm for Ziva's liking. Something was definitely coming. But Tali continued in a tone so cold, that it would have sent shivers down a terrorist's spine.

"So, when am I going to be your target, huh? Because you once told me that nobody will stay innocent their whole life! How many people have you killed, that had families, children! Or do you just eliminate the whole family to get rid of the problem?" At that, she sprang to her feet and ran through the garden, vanishing from Ziva's view around the corner of the house.
