08/29/2022 Welcome to the complete Khimera story overhaul. Ive kept most of the story beats but improved the grammar and story.

I don't own Teen Titans.

This is the story of Beast Boy as Slades apprentice Khimera. If you have read my one shot The Bird and The Beast this is the story leading up to a beyond that. Also if you don't know Logan is Beast Boys name well technically its Garfield but in my story he goes by his last name Logan.

Another thing the Cover picture for this story was made by dou-hong and its called BB's Walk on the wild Side look it up on deviant art its a great picture!

Chapter 1

He sits behind his master fiddling with his weapons, sharpening his throwing knives, cleaning his gun, in other words completely bored out of his mind. In front of him a tall intimidating man.

He glances at Slade who has been watching a video of the Titans intently. Slade has been replaying it for an hour. Logan could only guess something about the Titans interests his Master. He can't imagine what. They have had many foes that were more continues cleaning, and sharpening. It's not his place to question only to follow.

"Logan" Slade's voice pierces the silence. He had been with Slade long enough to understand his unsaid commands.

He stands up calmly, placing his weapons down and goes to his Master's side. Where he belongs. Slade places a hand on his shoulder.

Slade gestures to the screens "What do you see?"

Logan watches the film intently. To be honest he didn't know what Slade was referring to. He just saw a bunch of teenage hero wannabes, fighting some villain wannabes.

Slade probably could read his confusion; he can always pick up on his slight emotions. Years together will do that. Just like how Logan can know his master's moods with just a smell.

"Apprentice, what do you think of Robin?" He's giving Logan a hint it seems.

Logan watches the other teenager has some potential, but his technique isn't perfect.

"He has potential, but his technique could be improved" Logan replies coolly Slade squeezes his shoulder in approval. Logan heart soars approval is a rare thing. Slade clasps his hands behind his back.

"How would you like to have a companion?" Slade glances at his apprentice when he asks this.

Logan's heart leaps in his chest. A companion looks up at Slade. He shouldn't want companionship. Friends are a weakness but traitorously he feels he'd like one. Wintergreen and Slade should be enough. However he cant help the thought of getting to actually talk to someone his age and possibly even play video games with them. He's always played alone.

He shuts down the thoughts. No, friends are a weakness. Maybe Slade is testing him.

"Friends are a weakness, Master."

He tries to hide all his thoughts on the matter.

Slade stares into Logan's face and Logan smells amusement. He wonders what his master sees in him that amuses him. But its not his place to ask.

"Of course but Robin won't be a friend but a companion. For your missions, for training. You could benefit from another your age." Slade says looking at the images of Robin.

He seems contemplative " And I could benefit from two apprentices."

Logan stares at Slade. A companion sounds nice to have and if it benefits his Master of course he won't be opposed.

"Then I agree with what benefits you Master."

Logan drops his eyes in respect. Slade makes a sound of approval.

"Good, now I have an assignment for you, you have until tomorrow night to prepare" he gestures to the manilla file folder on the table next to him.

Logan bows, and then eagerly grabs the folder.

—-

He watches his target through his scope. When he has the target in his sights, he goes over what he had studied the night before in his mind.

Sex: male, age: 51, height: 5'11 weight: about 180 pounds, occupation: professor of Chinese myths and mythology, course of elimination: quick but lethal, main goal: he glances at the book the man holds as the target walks down the deserted street.

He slows down his breathing, and holds his breath. He waits, ignoring his need for air he takes aim slowly, then quickly his finger pulls the trigger, the dart cleanly killing his target, with expert accuracy. He watches his target fall apathetic. He descends from his perch.

He coldly examines his target, not human in his eyes anymore like Slade taught him your target is never human. He grabs up the book, and places it in the duffel bag he brought.

Now comes the dirty part making it look like mugging.

No one can know he was here, no one can know the truth behind this man's death. If someone does find out they won't be around very long.

Leave no loose ends, leave no trail to follow, complete every mission cleanly and efficiently. That is what Slade taught him.

He sighs, and drags the target to the back of a dark alley to begin his work.

It's his job. Just a job, like a construction worker who builds, like a teacher who teaches, or an accountant who does other people's taxes. He kills because it's what he was born to do, and trained to do almost perfectly.

He's not evil. Good and evil don't exist. Only power and weakness.

Plus working for Slade and killing, and stealing, for him is better than what 'they' made him do when he was younger. Before Slade when he was just their little 'monster', but that is a story for another time.

"Here's your book" he tosses it on the table that Slade was working on. Slade stops writing and picks up the book flipping through it.

"No one saw you, did they?" Slade asks coolly. Logan knows Slade watches him so he must know already. He answers anyway because he is expected to.

"Of course not" he replies, glancing off to the side trying to hide the fact he wants Slade's approval.

Slade stands up, puts the papers he was working on under his arm, and walks over to him. He places his hand on Logan's head. In a rare show of affection.

"Good Job Logan you may have tomorrow off" he calmly walks past him and leaves.

Logan's heart surges with pride, and joy. Half because he got Slades approval and half because he got a day off.

Slade must be in a good mood if he was giving him a day off! He rarely does that.

The changeling already starts planning what to do.

Beast Boy might seem OOC but he was raised by Slade he will act differently. I hope you enjoyed the first chapter please review and tell me what you think
