I was supposed to post this chapter last Friday but things happen XD I thank you all for your reviews but I have to say that this fanfiction may end in the next two chapters since I want to get working on something else. It will be another Vampire Knight fanfiction but it won't be about Masami or Hanabusa. Well maybe they'll be in it but it won't be about them anymore. I had to rush this one since I won't have much time to work on anything but I'll do my best to make the end worth it :3
I do not own Vampire Knight or it's characters. I simply own my own creations.
Three weeks had passed since the attack. Masami was under close watch after she was interrogated several times by the hunters. It was bad enough that she had to keep the game a secret but being asked if she had anything to do with it made it harder for her to even keep it to herself around Zero, Cross, and Toga. Not to mention her fiancee, her fear of Rido killing him had made her paranoid to the point where she even followed him when he wasn't with her.
"Following him around doesn't do you any good, Masami." Mamoru spoke as both vampire and familiar sat outside in the garden late one night.
"Well what am I supposed to do, Mamoru? Just thinking about Rido getting to him makes me feel nauseus. I can't sleep, or concentrate at all. My thirst has increased and I feel sick every morning when I wake from the little sleep I get at night and when I eat I can barley keep it down. Whenever I walk the hallways or simply sit in the lecture room, all the glass seems to break when my thoughts wander."
"It was a kind gesture of the Headmaster to remove you from your classes until this situation resolves." he spoke.
"It just means I can't keep an eye on Hanabusa." she frowned.
"You're mood is begging to affect the garden, Masami."
"Huh?" she looked up at the once brilliant red roses that now seemed a dull red black. "Let's leave before I destroy the whole garden." she stood and began walking away from the garden.
"Have you any clues as to who Rido may be?"
"None. It's difficult to hunt down your enemy when he clearly has taken the steps to cover up his tracks." her legs had carried her to the schools fountain, sitting down on the edge of the water filled circle.
"Wouldn't it be best if you ask for assistance? I am sure Zero would understand you in your current position."
"Current position? They have me under guard every single waking moment. It is a strange miracle that they aren't guarding me now, the must be searching for Rido. I don't think I can do this... I'm weak." her fingers dipped into the cold icy water.
"What will you do then? Sit here and whine about your life?" the massive wolf had climbed up onto the ledge and bared his fangs at her. "Don't be such a naive girl. You act as though you are a human, act like the queen you were meant to be and take action!" he snarled.
Masami couldn't help but look at her familiar with an expression of shock.
"I do not hate you, I love you. I have to set you straight before you destroy yourself. We have been here for over a month and every day I see you losing your sanity..." Mamoru jumped off the fountains ledge and began walking back towards the dorm. "Think about this, Masami." he said "Rido was once like you until his obsession over his sister drove him over the edge. Now look at yourself, don't you see what is happening here? Take a step back and look at your reflection, feeling sorry for yourself will get you nowhere and are you truly willing to risk the lives of everyone around you because you think you're weak?"
Mamoru's words echoed in the pureblood's head as she watched him disappear.
"That wolf seems to have either put you under a spell or he said something that left you speechless."
The voice of the man startled the pureblood queen enough for her to fall backwards into the water filled fountain. She felt warm arms surround her body as she hit the water, her sight was blocked by the chest of the man. Masami was brought up to the surface where she immedialtey pushed the man away. "Don't sneak up on people like that!" she hissed, her back to him.
"I didn't mean to, I thought you were just ignoring me."
Masami recognized the voice now and turned to face him "I didn't mean to yell at you Shinohara!"
"No, it was my fault for sneaking up on a vampire." a genuine smile claimed his lips.
Masami couldn't help but smile back "Let's get out of the water before you get sick." her hands lifted her up and out of the fountain, her boots squished once she stepped onto the cement.
"You're soaking wet."
Masami looked up to see Shinohara standing before her in his, now water soaked, uniform. "You're... umm wet." she looked away from the white shirt that was clearly see through and stuck to his perfectly formed body.
"We just fell into a fountain so I'm bound to be wet from head to toe." he laughed. "Are you alright though?"
She nodded and looked down at her body. Her uniform clung to her body like glue making her feel self conscious of herself.
"What were you and the wolf talking about?"
Grabbing her wet jacket she covered her chest "Nothing important."
"Nothing important..." he repeated, "It didn't seem like that when I came. Masami, you know you can trust me. There is no need to lie to me."
Masami sighed in defeat and told him everything.
"So basically Rido is making you play a game?"
Masami nodded "Yes, it was something we did often."
"I always heard Rido was a cruel senseless man but they way you describe him tells me otherwise. You were always fond of his games."
"I feel only hatred towards him. "she responded.
"The sun will be up soon. It's best you return to your dorm before that fiancee of yours becomes worried."
She grinned " Goodbye Shinohara."
"Goodbye, princess." he watched a Masami walked away from him.
"You'll always be as bright as the sun..." he said to himself once she disappeared from his sight.
The next night Masami had decided to take action once she had made sure Mamoru would keep an eye on Hanabusa. It was her plan to place a camera near the entrance and inside the place where Kaname's body was hidden but most of all she had to find the person who was helping the damned pureblood.
"These cameras should at least tell me who knows where he is." the pureblood queen said to herself as she placed a small camera in every corner of the entrances and hallways until she reached the room that would forever remain frozen. "Hello Kaname." she said loudly to the frozen man in the ice before her. Half expecting an answer from the dark prince she laughed at herself. "I suppose you were in the same situation before. You handled it with such grace that it seemed as though you had planned it all... but of course you did. You planned it just like you planned Shizuka Hio's death. I've always wondered if you were simply trying to destroy Yuuki little by little... making her feel what you had felt since the beginning." Masami lifted her hand and placed it on the ice, the invisible barrier surrounding it immediately began to react to it's creators touch. "Don't think I'm doing this for you, Kaname. I'm doing this for the ones I love. If Rido is allowed to have your body and consume you then that would be the end of us all." she removed her hand but placed a kiss on the ice her fiancee had created.
"What are you doing here Masami?" Hanabusa had come inside silently after he heard someone speaking from inside.
"I was just visiting Kaname." she replied, turning around to face him.
"We could have come together." he walked up to her and placed his hand over her cheek.
"You're cold." he frowned bringing her into his embrace. "You've been sick, Masami. Have you been feeding?"
She nodded "I have but it doesn't seem to be enough anymore."
Hanabusa placed his head at the crook of her neck. "Let's get married." he said suddenly.
Masami laughed "We're engaged Hanabusa. We will get married some day."
"I mean now, there is a church in town that is willing to do it."
Masami closed her eyes and leaned her head on his. "Hanabusa, I don't think this is the time. Rido hasn't been caught yet and I am sure something is wrong with me, maybe it's the stress but it isn't the time."
Hanabusa raised his head to meet her eyes. "This is the best time, Masami."
"The best time for what?" a third voice came from the entrance.
Both purebloods turned to face the newcomer.
"Am I interrupting something?" Shinohara looked straight at Masami.
"The disciplinary members aren't allowed to enter this place." Hanabusa said coldly to Shinohara.
"I wasn't aware of that rule, Aidou."
Masami could feel the tension between them both that she decided to defend her fiancee. "He's right Shinohara, Headmaster Cross will only allow access to a few of us. You aren't allowed to be here."
"I just came to tell you sorry about yesterday." he said.
"What happened yesterday?" Hanabusa asked Masami.
"Nothing happened, Hanabusa. I just fell into the fountain on accident because he scared me." she assured him.
"Well you were soaking wet to the point were I could see through your clothes." a grin claimed his lips " I just wanted to make sure you were fine but as I see now you definelty are. I'll come find you later when your fiancee isn't with you."with those last words he left the room.
Masami frowned "What the hell..." she thought to herself.
"Don't see him anymore, I don't like the way he looks at you." Hanabusa said, still looking at the place where Shinohara was standing.
"I've never seen him act like that before... Maybe it's the stress we're all under." she mumbled to herself.
A few minutes had passed in silence until Hanabusa spoke.
"Remember the first time we met?" he asked her.
"Uhh, if I recall the moment your father made you talk to me, you actually called me pretty." she couldn't help but recall the lovely evening when she first met Hanabusa Aidou.
Six year old Masami Ankoku stared at fire that was burning in the sitting room as she waited for the guests to arrive.
"Masami, please be kind to the Lord Aidou and his son. He is being brought to meet you and you can't just ignore him my dear." her mother said.
"I want to play with Rido, mother." she pouted.
"Look at me Masami." her mother placed a finger under Masami's chin and forced her to look in her eyes.
"Rido won't be here but if you play nice and get along with the boy then maybe I'll allow you and Rido to spend more time outside. I know the snow will be falling soon and you love to spend more time outside so please Masami." she seemed desperate for her daughter to get along with the boy.
Masami nodded "Okay mommy."
The doorbell rang.
"That's my girl." the mother smiled, placing a kiss on her daughter's forehead before going to answer the door.
Masami seemed curious about the boy her parents wanted her to meet. She had met several children before but her parents seemed to want her to like this one boy.
"Masami!" her mother called out "Please come in here and meet Lord Aidou and his son!"
Masami sighed but did as told and made her way to the main hall.
"Now look at Masami!" Lord Aidou spoke to the young pureblood.
"Hello Mr. Aidou." Masami gave him a smile.
The elder pureblood laughed "Such a pleasure to see you again. I want you to meet my son, Hanabusa." he stepped back to reveal a blonde child with cerulean eyes staring at her. "Go greet Masami, Hanabusa." he pushed the child towards the pureblood girl.
Hanabusa stepped forward and stood in front of Masami. "You're very pretty." he looked away, his cheeks became pink.
Masami couldn't help but smile at Hanabusa "You're handsome."
Hanabusa turned to face her "Really?"
"Mhm" she smiled and reached for his hand. "My name is Masami."
Hanabusa smiled back "I'm Hanabusa."
"Well there you have it," Lord Aidou spoke "I told you that they were going to get along fine, Amaya. They're engagment will be a strong one."
Masami's father grabbed his wife's hand "You worried over nothing dear."
"Well this may mean it was meant to be since the start." she laughed.
"Can I show Hanabusa my room, mommy?" she asked, making up a name for her new friend.
"Sure dear." she watched as Masami and Hanabusa walked up the stairs and out of their sight.
"What of Rido?" Lord Aidou spoke once he knew the children were gone.
"He seemed to take it well but knowing him we don't know what to expect. He keeps his emotions on a tight leash when around us." Amaya said.
"As long as he doesn't try anything then we will be fine." Masami's father said.
"Let's hope he doesn't" Lord Aidou agreed.
"I was simply telling you the truth." Hanabusa had led her out of the frozen room and outside. "I recall you calling me handsome."
"Hey! I was just trying to be nice." she rolled her eyes "Don't feel so good about yourself."
Hanabusa couldn't help but sweep his fiancee off her feet. "Really? Just trying to be nice? Just admit that it was love at first sight."
Masami laughed "You truly believe in that?"
"Maybe I don't but the first time I met you, I couldn't help but love you." he admitted.
She smirked "I have to meet with Headmaster Cross in a few minutes."
"What for?" he asked
"Tsuyori wishes to come see me here." she lied "So I'll be discussing that with the Headmaster."
"Then I'll come with you." Hanabusa replied.
"No no. This will only take a few minutes." placing a kiss on his cheek she turned and began to walk away. "I'll be back soon, I promise."
A few hours had passed since Masami left Hanabusa to go in search for anything related to Rido. She narrowed it down to four people Miki, Kiku, Shinohara, and Shiki. "This can't be.." she had made her way back into the frozen tomb. "Shiki couldn't possibly be helping out his father. " she paced in front of Kaname. "If I cross him out then that just leaves the humans..." her head was pounding. "What do I do Kaname?" she stopped to stare up at the beautiful creature before her. She sighed, half expecting a response from the heartless man. "Never trust the ones closest to you." she said to herself those very words Kaname had once spoken to her. "Closest to me..." she repeated. "'You were always fond of his games.'" her eyes widened "How did he know I was fond of his games..."
"Seems like you figured it out, little bitch."
Masami turned to face Kiku just as she threw something at her making everything go black.
"uhh" Masami groaned softly, her eyes felt heavy and her head was pounding worse than before. Her throat felt like it was on fire.
"How much did you throw at her!" a mans voice yelled angrily
"It was only a handful my love." a voice purred back "Why are you yelling at me? You said as long as I brought her back it didn't matter."
"You could have hurt her!" he yelled.
"Where.." Masami opened her eyes slowly, everything was blurry and slowly coming into focus. "Hana..." she said softly. calling out to her fiancee.
"Shh my dear, you must have a headache." the man spoke to Masami now.
"Where am I." the pureblood queen managed to sit up for a few seconds before falling back.
"My home." the man spoke.
"Who are you?" Masami couldn't see the man.
The man laughed moving to sit next to her "Have you forgotten me so quickly?"
Masami moved her head to glance at the man "It... it was you." she managed to say. "Shi..no...hara."
Shinohara laughed "I guess you could call me that." he reached for his eyes and took something out. "These things are such a nuisance." his red and blue eyes seemed to come alive once he removed the contacts. "I have to keep up appearances to get what I want. Isn't that right Masami?"
Masami looked in horror at the eyes of her parents killer. "Where is Shinohara!" she managed to yell.
Rido chuckled "Do not worry, princess. You're hunter friend is well... did he ever tell you he was a vampire? That is how I was able to take his body over during the soiree. He was foolish enough to follow you and Kiku here caught him. It is a matter of time before I regain my body.. I only need a bit of your blood." he had leaned in to her throat, his fangs trailed the pale soft flesh before him. "How I've wanted to do this for so long..." he bit into her, the sweet nectar of life began flowing into him. He pulled back, noticing something different about her. "What..." he frowned and stood. "You need rest, next time we meet... you will recognize me." he left, Kiku trailing behind him.
"It hurts." Masami managed to move her hand up to her neck where her own blood had begun to trickle down onto her chest. Now able to sit up she glanced around the room she was in.
"A bedroom with no windows." she cursed "Where am I.. Where is Hanabusa?" looking down at herself she noticed she was wearing a skimpy nightgown. "Where are my weapons?" she looked around and saw a wardrobe. Her whole body felt weak but her need to escape was far greater than weak body. Masami stepped off and went to open the wardrobe "These were Juuri's dresses..." she looked in horror at the clothing. "I have to get out of here!"
Masami stepped out of the room and into a dimly lit corridor. Her senses were dulled but she could feel the faint brush of the wind coming from her left. "Maybe a window is open." she began walking but the corridor seemed to go on for ages. "Is there no end to this?" a few minutes later the corridor ended but no window was in sight. A simple door lay to her right
"Where did she go?" Kiku's voice rang through the corridor. "YOU IDIOTS! GO FIND THE LITTLE BITCH BEFORE I DRINK YOU DRY! And take the hunter back once you find her."
"I have to hide..." without even thinking what lay behind the door, Masami stepped inside. "This is a living nightmare. These steps may lead outside..."
The steps led down into a large basement with windows.
"Windows!" the pureblood queen ran towards the windows which were covered with red curtains. The wind blew them towards her revealing iron bars blocking her escape.
Her hands took hold of the bars nearest to her and pulled they budged but not enough to let her through. "I'm too weak."
A sudden creak startled Masami "Who's there?" the basement was empty except for a large wooden black rectangle box ,that could easily fit five of her, and a large bed. The wind brought the scent of something sweet. "Blood..."
A chuckle echoed in the room "That's right, princess. You smell the blood of aristocrats who decided to betray you."
"What do you want Rido? You don't need Kaname's body to gain power."
The lid of the wooden box slid open and a blood soaked Rido stepped out.
Masami couldn't help but step back in terror. "Let me go!"
He laughed "Do you truly want to leave?"
Masami looked away from his eyes "You won't trick me like that again."
"You can't escape whether you want to or not. Your only chance of escaping is to take blood from me." he was now standing in front of Masami. "If you want your fiancee to live then you will stay remain here and fulfill my desires. If not.." he bent his head to the dried blood that had marked her chest and licked it. "your lover will die."
Masami looked up and saw the bloody Rido leave room "This room will remain locked until I return. Please get some rest, my princess."
The pureblood couldn't help but sit on the bed and stare out the window where she saw a garden illuminated by the moon. Her thirst was out of control to the point where she was actually thinking about drinking from Rido. She knew that if she did and her thirst was quenched, that she would be under his control. She didn't have the strength to create a barrier around her.
An hour or so had passed and Masami tried everything to escape but it all ended in failure. She came to the conclusion that playing along with Rido's game would be her best bet at escaping.
"What are you thinking about?" Rido had entered the room to see Masami sitting on his bed, staring outside the window.
"Nothing" she replied
Rido didn't respond but walked to the bed. His eyes looked over the young pureblood with such content.
"Stop looking at me like that." she mumbled.
Rido sat a few inches away from her "Why would I want to do that?"
"It makes me feel uncomfortable." she hid her face from him.
Rido continued admiring his longtime friend.
"Why did you kill my parents?" Masami finally managed to ask the question.
Rido was taken by surprise at the girls courage.
"They took you from me." he admitted. "They were just like my brother, they took what was mine."
Masami looked at him "How dare you say that! I wasn't yours to begin with!" she hissed
Rido grabbed Masami and layed her flat on the bed, he climbed onto her. "You're wrong there, princess. You were mine since the day you were born. That Aidou brat was born and your mother decided it was best that you marry someone your age and someone with a brighter future." he leaned in to kiss her lips "And you want to know what they said to me? Hmm? You want to know?" he bit her lip. "Answer me!"
"What did they say?" she said softly.
"They told me that you were meant to be with Hanabusa and I was a disgrace to the Kuran family and every pureblood in existence. Yet they still allowed me to see you. Your parents were cruel to me. They denied me what was mine and I had to destroy them."
Masami looked at him in horror "They wouldn't do that."
"Oh but they did, princess. They did and they thought I was just going to let it go and move on." he laughed pressing his body closer to hers. "Now I'll make you mine. I'll give you such pleasure that you won't ever dare leave me again."
There's chapter 16 everyone! :3 I hope you all enjoyed it and stuff. Please leave a review, a favorite, or a follow.
