Note: That's it. I did it again. Now will you excuse me, I'm gonna jump from my bedroom window.
Nah, I'm just kidding! But anyway, it's true that I keep slacking my time making the story. But when you're in high school, everything is different. Literally.
So… again, I'm sorry and please tolerate my late updates from now on, as I can't guarantee that I will update my stories every month. So here you go ^^
Chapter 6 – Present and Past
Not wanting to get another strike from Creed, his tiger-like eyes sets back to him, plunging through Creed's soul and makes him startle. In an instant, he swifts his gun away from Creed's sword with a clashing sound and sends him leaping back three feet away. Train takes a quick notice of Creed's leg, which is bleeding continuously. 'He's shot and still able to fight? Amazing.' he thought.
Saya can't get enough gazes from Train. She looks at him with a chilling sensation. But she manages to splutter out some words. "How… How did you—"
"It's alright. That isn't what matters now. You need to get out of here." Cuts Train as he takes a quick glance to the terrified children not far away from him and Saya before returning to Creed's sinister face, "Saya, take those children far away from us, don't let go of them until this is over."
Saya still has tons of questions that she wants to ask, but her instinct tells her that she has to do her job, protecting others. So she quickly rushes to the kids and leads them away from Creed and Train. For now.
Not even paying attention at the children and Saya, Creed's vision is now locked on Train. He raises his eyebrow as he observes him from head to toe.
"Who are you?" slithers Creed in his dark, yet curious, voice. "You look a lot like someone I know."
Train gives him an irritated look for his last phrase. Even Creed asks the same thing.
"Yeah, right." Mutters Train in annoyance. He clicks his gun's hammer and points it towards Creed. His frown almost shades his face partially. "You don't even know me."
Creed shows silence. But on his face lays a freaking smile and lets out a horrific laughter. "….Those sharp eyes… that attitude… the way you hold the gun… Why, you can be Train's twin…! Or even… Train himself."
He puts his forefinger in the air towards Train and continues, "But there's something missing…. Something that makes someone like you a complete Train."
Train shudders a bit. Even though he's not being intimidated by him, but somehow his spine begins to shake.
"….do you know, perhaps… what it is?" Creed's face darken, only let the light shows his eyes. "Since Train's not here, let me play with you. Then I'll take care of that witch." He pulls his sword in front of him and shows the razor sharp blade to face Train. "You interest me."
Before Creed could take a leap on Train, a dark, shadowy figure stands in front of Train.
"!?... Don't tell me…" whispered Creed after he realizes who is the shadowy figure is.
"What do you think you're doing… Creed?" said the figure, pulling out his gun that marks XIII. Yes, it is past Train, indeed.
Creed stares at both Train and past Train. He widens his eyes and thought to himself. 'They both looked alike! What is this? There's no way I can't beat them… especially when Train's here.'
While past Train waits for Creed's answer, he glances to Train. "Who are you? Why are you here? Are you a friend or a foe?"
"Train!" a voice wails from a distance. It's Saya. "Don't worry about him! He's my friend! Just kick that monster's ass in front of you!"
"Saya?" said past Train, turning back and looking for his dear friend. He saw her with the children quite far away from him. "It thought you're—"
A man with a hood shows up beside Creed before past Train finishes his words. For Creed's suspicion, he quickly sends his blade flying to the man. But he jumps away to avoid the attack.
"I'm at your side. I have the same objective as you." Explained the man, revealing himself to the dim light.
"You!" shouted Train in amazement. "Leonne?"
Leonne doesn't even glance at Train. "Let me pair up with you and beat them." he sees Creed's leg on a small pool of blood and a scratch on his arm. "I know you're not powerful enough to stop Train in that condition."
Struck at his words, Creed remains in silence before he starts to chuckle again. "I see… Since you want to prove yourself that you might be a worthy ally for me, then do as you please. But the reason I still want to stay in this battlefield is that I really need to know about that guy behind Train." He points his thumb at Train's direction.
"Hey, Creed!" barks past Train in anger. He had lost his patience. "Are you going to fight? Or are you gonna runaway?"
"Oh." Said Creed as calm as he could, "You're going to fight with your own partner?" Something in his voice adds some affection that made both Trains sick.
"You are not my partner!" protested past Train in disgust. Creed smiles and advance his words, " Well then, but first, let me ask you, why didn't you tell me that you have a twin? He could be useful you know." He points to Train who gives a pretending-to-be-confused look.
"Twin?... What?" The past Train turns his head to Train and he finally can take a good look at him. "You…" He can't believe his eyes, "You're the one whom I met this morning!"
"So he's not your twin? That's just disappointing." Sulked Creed.
Not having many choices, past Train whispers to Train, "Look, I don't know who you are, or why you look a lot like me, but since you saved my friend from trouble, I trust you. Let us beat Creed and his friend there out of here."
"Saved your friend from trouble? I thought you haven't reach here when I saved her." Said Train in curiosity.
"About that…" past Train smirks, "When Creed was about to stab Saya from behind, I was already at two roofs away. I could see them, but i can't reach them. I know I wouldn't have enough time to save her. But when you showed up and protected her, from there I knew that you're not a bad guy. That question about whether you're a friend or foe is just like a test."
Train doesn't know what to say to his past self. But he does know why he can't save Saya because he experienced it himself. With his own help, he can really change the past (I'm sorry if that doesn't give you the idea).
"You ready?" asked past Train in full dignity. His gun ready on his steady hand.
Train lays his eyes on Creed's side. Leonne seems sure of himself that he will win the battle. He may not know what abilities that Leonne has, but he thought it's worth a try to fight. A robber known for his talent of slipping away decides to join a brawl? 'That could be interesting.' thought Train in this mind . What mattered Train the most now is that this battle will determine Saya's fate and also the changes in the future.
Taking a deep breath and let it out, all of those things that worry him had gone. No more memories about the nightmares. No more tragedy. Only a clear determination fills his face.
Taking a step to be at past Train's side, he smiles, "Whenever you're ready…. Partner."
