Later the day that Tyler and the others had left, I sat on the floor in my room, holding a sleeping Ned in my hands, when there was a knock on my door. Carole opened.

"Lex, there´s someone here to see you?" she said. I stood up and put Ned back in his hutch.

"Who?"

"I think you´d better come see for yourself." I walked after Carole downstairs, and to the hallway.

"Hi Hayley." I said. Hayley sure looked like crap to be honest. She had dark circles under her eyes. And even apart from that she looked really tired, her brown hair was greasy.

"Hey Lex."

"So… how you´re doing?"

"During the circumstances… I guess I´m doing all right…. I´m sorry for what I sa…" I held up my hands to silent her.

"Forget it, it doesn´t matter."

"No really… I am…"

"I said forget it. It doesn´t matter, really."

"Lex… shouldn´t you invite your friend in?"

"no… No thanks miss Hudson… " Hayley gave me a paper. "I just came to give you this, could you give it to Mr. Schue?"

"Yes, of course I will." I pulled Hayley into a tight embrace, and held her like that for a couple of seconds. When I let go, we said our good- byes, and out the door she went.

The next day, I went grocery shopping with the others, when we came back, there was a big trunk laying on the stairs in front of the house, and two papers laying on top of it. I lifted up the papers and read the first one.

My dearest Alexandria

To let you know that I was thinking about you while I was gone, every year in November, and before Christmas. I bought a birthday- or- Christmas- gift for you. I also bought a locket, to hang on a bracelet, one each year.

I and Zebastian are getting on a plane, it´s leaving a quarter past three today, and we aren´t gonna bother you anymore.

Even though I really meant what I said the night I left, I love you Alexandria, I love you so much, just as if you were my own flesh and blood, and it´s gonna be hard giving you up.

Mum

I looked at the other paper, the adoption paper. No name on it.

"Oh no." I mumbled to myself. "She´s not getting away that easily." I checked the watch, it was two. I turned around.

"Can someone drive me to the airport?"

"I can do it." Blaine said. He took the car- keys from Burt.

" Come on, we haven´t got much time." I gripped Blaine´s wrist and pulled him with me to the car. On the way to the airport, I sat twisting my hands around each other.

I ran alone into the airport, and spotted the line.

"CRAP" I fizzled, mostly to myself. There was no way I had the time to wait in line.

Then I did something…. Either extremely brave or extremely stupid. I jumped up on a table and shouted at the top of my lungs.

"EVERYBODY LISTEN UP." Oh god, how would I get from this? "My… my mother is on the other side of this…" I pointed to the line. "I´m not getting on a plane, but I have barely talked to her since I was eight. And… I really need to talk to her now… otherwise I´ll never get to talk to her… but there´s no way I have the time to wait in line… so please… please." After what I could tell by the faces from almost everyone, no one would let me go before them. I sighed.

"Thank you for your time," I started climbing down, and with my head held low, I walked towards the line, maybe, just maybe I can get in time.

"Oi kiddo, hold up." I hear a voice. I stop, but don´t really dare to believe that the male voice, is talking to me. But then I hear it again.

"Yeah, you. Short girl with red hair, you wanted to get first in line so come on before I change my mind." I span around, and second in line, stands a man, perhaps in his early- middle ages. His hair is brown, and when I ran closer, I could see that so are his eyes.

"Th-th-thank you." I stuttered, and shook his hand, before I get first in line, and started emptying my pockets, cellphone, wallet, some paper I don´t really know what it is, and keys. I throw them in a basket, and walk through the security equipment, when I got my things back. I put the things in my pockets, and looked around. When I spot mum and Zeb, starting to walk towards the gate.

"MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM" My shout echoes through the walls at the airport, mum stopped, and when she turns around, I start running towards her.

"Please….. please mum… don´t go… I need to talk to you."

"So now´s a good time isn´t it? Well it isn´t for me…" mum turned around, and walked down the gate, Zeb stayed.

"Zebastian, come on." Mum said.

"No mum, I think we should listen."

"Zebastian, please come on now."

"I thought you forgot about me." I said, mum stopped, but didn´t turn around. Zeb shrugged, and then walked slowly after mum. At last, when they was almost too far away to hear, I shouted.

"I love you." Mum and Zeb stopped. I continued, I really didn´t want her to leave.

"After you left, I used to sit for hours each day, in the kitchen window, in case you would come back. But you never did, but I don´t hate you. I hate what you did, and please don´t do It again."

"Excuse me miss, you need to leave now, if you´re not getting on the plane." A man who worked at the airport said, I nodded.

"Please, if you really love me. If you really didn´t forget about me... please… can we talk about this?"

"Miss…" the man said, I nodded, mum still hadn´t moved, I sighed and turned around, before walking back. Before…

"ALEXANDRIA." I span around, and mum and Zeb came jogging. I smiled, they stopped right in front of me. I embraced them both at the same time.

" Come on, we´ll go… to my place… maybe we can talk in private there." We turned around all three of us. We walked out to the car. I opened the door, and talked to Blaine.

"They´re coming with us back home." He nodded, and turned the car- key, I showed mum to get in the front seat, and climbed into the back- seat, Zeb got into the back- seat on the other side. And during the whole ride home, we were all quiet. After a few minutes, we arrived home, and we walked inside.

"Mum… Zeb… these are the folks who want to adopt me." I pointed with my whole hand. "Burt Hummel and Carole Hudson, this is Burt´s son Kurt, and Kurt´s boyfriend. Blaine. This is my mum Katheryn, and my brother Zebastian. We… hrm… we can go up to my room, so I can talk to you alone for a while." I walked before mum and Zeb up to my room. Where I sat down on my bed, Zeb stood up, and mum sat down in the chair. We were all silent for a few minutes more. Until Zeb took a deep breath and spoke up.

"You should know… Lex… that, I was never out for scaring you. The plan with following you like that, was never to scare you. The plan with that, was kind of to get to know a bit more about you, before we… revealed. And every time I called, I was meaning to reveal. But every time, I got so afraid, I hung up on you… and I´m sorry if I scared you." I nodded.

"It´s all right. So… " I looked over to mum. "Why did you buy all those presents, when you never sent them?"

"I was meaning to send them, but it got harder and harder for each year…"

"You let me think that you never cared about either me, Maddie or dad, you made me believe that you had forgotten everything about us. "

"Well… who do you think paid for your sister´s gravestone? Alexandria, there wasn´t a day, not an hour that went by without that I thought about you. Every time I was at the store, spotted a pair of clothing that you or she would have liked, every time I zapped between TV- channels, and stumbled upon an episode of Shaun the sheep. I never ever forgot about you. And I never stopped loving you. The day I got that phone call, I was at work, and I… the whole day, I laid under my desk, crying my eyes out. My heart was broken. I paid for the gravestone for two reasons, I knew your father wouldn´t. And I felt like it was the only thing I could do for her."

"But what about me? You still had me, you could have brought me away from… Brian" I knew, that several times today, I´d called Brian my dad. Out of mistake, and out of an old habit. I wasn´t gonne let myself do it again.

"Yeah, but what was I supposed to do. Come back and stand there like an idiot, what was I supposed to say? Hi, I know I´ve been an idiot, but I´ve come to take you with me." I stood up, and looked out the window.

"Mum? If you want to take your chance now, do what you didn´t do now what you didn´t do then. And do what´s best for me. Please, if it´s true what you´ve said about loving me. Then please do… the thing I want more than anything else. And let Burt and Carole adopt me." I sat down again, leaned against the wall.

"Mum?" Zeb spoke up. "I think we should do what she wants."

"It´s not as easy as you think. I´m your mother, I can´t just let go of everything and let someone else be that."

"Come downstairs with me." I opened the door, and walked downstairs to the living room. Where I stopped.

"Mum, you´re always gonna be my mum, nothing´s ever gonna change that. But… if you let us get through with the adoption, Burt and Carole are going to be my parents. And Zebastian, you are always gonna be my brother, and no matter how tall you get, you´re always gonna be my baby brother." Zeb was of course, at least two decimeters taller than me. He chuckled.

"Saturday, in less than two weeks."

"Then what?"

"Meet me outside the house where you lived with Brian. Then I´ll have the papers ready…"

"But mu…"

"Lex" Carole interrupted, and gave me a meaning look. I nodded.

"Okay, I´ll meet you there." She nodded, and I embraced her.

"I love you." I whispered, and let go after a couple of seconds.

"Hey I wonder where are bags are now?" Zeb spoke up afterwards.

"On their way to San Francisco I´d guess." Mum answered.

"So is there where you´ve been living since you left?" Mum nodded.

"Lex…" she spoke up again. "You should probably know that while you were in hospital, I came to see you. And you were unconscious, but I held your hand for a couple of hours, and told you that I loved you." I nodded, and then hugged Zeb as well. Mum took her papers, and then they both walked out the door. I sighed, and then went to get the bag with all those presents. Then I remembered my list.

"MUM WAIT" I shouted, "come in again. I´ve got something to show you." Mum and Zeb turned around, and came into the house again, while I ran upstairs and got my list. I laid it on the table, and crossed number four.

"Seven done, three to go" I said, while mum and Zeb read through it. When they had walked outside again. I finally got the bag with all the presents, I laid it on the living room floor. Every present had a tag, with either "happy birthday Alexandria" and the age I turned that year. or Merry Christmas year... and the year she had bought that present. I laid them spread over the living room floor, and began searching for the "Christmas 2008 " present, I took it. It felt quite heavy, yet very soft, and there was no way I could guess what was in it.
