Ok you guys I know you have been waiting and waiting for the blow up, and guess what? It's here! No more stalling. Y'all better open your umbrellas because a shit storm is headed this way.
Have you figured out who this mystery person in Edd's life is yet? Your guy's deducing is REALLY good. I tried to make it a little difficult to figure it out unless you pick at the subtle details I've laid out but some of you practically mic dropped the answer.
Bravo.
Enjoy!
Kevin stood still as stone. His lips trembled but he uttered no word, not even as the sockhead gathered what was left of his courage and turned to finally face him.
The dork tried to speak but mumbled unintelligible things instead. His fingers clasped at the spot of his shirt above his heart, willing the organ to slow its frantic palpitations.
"Kevin-"
The red-head snapped his hand up, the dark look on his face ordering Edd to keep quiet. Edd obeyed, taking to stare at his reflection in the hallway mirror. He couldn't stand to look at it. Bile in the form of shame and guilt rose to the back of his throat and he had to concentrate in order not to expel his breakfast. It wasn't until the shuffling of footsteps were heard that he realized Kevin had moved away from him, fists balled at his side so tight Edd could see the shake of muscle in the man's arms. He ran after Kevin catching up with the red-head's long strides as the athlete walked with purpose, shoulders back and eyes focused ahead of him.
Edd's bedroom door swung open quickly, the knob bouncing off the back of the wall. Kevin hurried inside, his eyes taking in the sight of a rumpled bed sheet and blanket, the dork's clothes strewn about on the floor in a careless manner. The room was stuffy, smelling of something akin to musk. Like the pungent odor of sex.
Kevin whipped around, his eyes locking with the sockhead's. His heart was either beating too hard or too fast for him to actually feel it. His arms by now had gone numb and he couldn't think past the scream of rage boiling in his head. He started to shake with indignation. It felt hot like liquid lava flowing through his veins. His bottle of lube was sitting on Edd's bed stand.
Edd bit the inside of his cheek, pulling himself from his cowardice position behind the door frame and stepping into the room. He had to say something, to explain- but what was there to explain? Kevin wasn't stupid. He could spell it out for himself just fine. His clasping hands fell to his lap, tugging and picking at the hem of his shirt.
"Did you sleep with him?" Kevin hissed.
Edd's head snapped back up and this time he couldn't escape that powerful gaze. Should he answer?
Kevin's chest heaved with anticipation and Edd flinched as he screamed. "Did you fucking sleep with him?!"
Kevin stomped forward and Edd backed away, his resolve melting like butter under a blazing sun. Edd's knees started knocking and when he didn't answer Kevin's glare intensified.
"Say it." He demanded vehemently. "I want to hear you say it."
Edd flinched once more but this time he answered back, his words tumbling and incoherent. Kevin didn't hear him and snapped, raising his arms and throwing them down in an embittered display.
"Say it goddamn you!"
Unable to withstand the verbal attack Edd cried out in earnest. "Yes!" Tears of shame prickled behind his eye lids. Edd's entire body started shaking. "Yes I did, are you satisfied now? Yes! I slept with Todd!"
Kevin's mind went blank with fury.
"Goddamn it!"
Kevin raked both hands through his hair, pulling back the strands of red that casually fell over his eyes. His nostrils flared in a display of rage so intense he couldn't quite breathe right. His chest heaved up and down in quick rhythmic beats as he took to glaring at the dork and threw his arms up in the air.
"What the hell Edd? What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
Edd jumped to the defense, anger of his own boiling beneath the surface of his calm facade.
"Excuse me; I am capable in all my faculties' thank you very much."
Kevin stalked towards him, a tremor running through Edd as he watched that dominant anger seethe off the taller man in tsunami size waves. Edd naturally fell back a step, his head turning in a submissive gesture but Kevin refused to back down.
"You screwed some stranger in my home behind my back. Yeah I think that constitutes as being a little fucked in the head."
And just like that they were right back to where they had begun.
Edd felt his pulse increase and his palms become clammy, a shade of darkness tainting the crystalline in his eyes. "How dare you."
Kevin snarled. "How dare I? You've got some nerve."
He stormed from the room, knocking Edd aside in the process. He felt a cold chill reverberate through his system, Edd's cool skin chilling his own right down to the bone. He couldn't stand to look at him let alone touch him. The mere thought made him sick to his stomach.
And he had just fucked him; made love to that beautiful body.
His belly rumbled in disgust. He refused to think of the details, even as they persisted and plucked at the thin strings of his already ruptured patience.
"Kevin wait-"
Edd ran after the red-head, his heart pounding and the sound of his blood rushing through his ears. He came to a stop at the end of the hall watching as Kevin mumbled and fumed, stalking back and forth between the sliding door and the kitchen. Edd crossed to him, resting a shaking hand on his shoulder. He felt like David facing down the brute Goliath with nothing but his words to sling shot the beast down. He wasn't sure if it would be enough. The damage he had caused was beyond any kind of vocal repair. Of that he was certain.
Kevin snagged Edd's hand and shoved it off of him. Edd reeled back by the force of Kevin's shove; hurt shinning like starlight in his eyes. He had never been so violently pushed away before, not since he and Eddy had that nasty fight over the big prank they had pulled on the entire cul-de-sac. Back then they hadn't meant anything by their actions but this was downright cold. So much so he could feel the metaphorical frost turning his blood to slush in his veins.
"You're fucking sick." Kevin howled, his face burning an impressive shade of red. "And we just… you and I... You. And. I!"
Kevin's words tangled as they fought to jump off the tip of his tongue. He screamed in frustration, punching the wall so hard his fist went right through the dry wall. Edd flinched; his eyes squeezed shut as tears burned behind his eye lids. His breath escaped in hot and heavy shudders. He forced his eyes open even as his rational mind screamed at him to turn tail and run.
"Kevin, please be rational." He was struggling to keep himself in check as it was.
Kevin sneered, taking his fist back from the wall. "I can't believe this. I fucking hate you!"
Edd felt his breath hitch before the very air in his lungs was stolen away. His heart had been broken- shattered into a million undistinguished pieces. Emptiness; it was the only explanation for the sudden feeling of hopelessness and despair that gripped him. It choked him like an iron vise, forcing his throat close and stripping him of his ability to think. Kevin's words cut deep like serrated knife, tearing open the flesh of his conscience and bleeding him out.
Unable to further vocalize his fury Kevin stormed out of the room, shoving his shoulder into Edd's and knocking the small boy out of his way. The sockhead didn't expect such a show of aggression and stumbled back into the wall in shock.
"No." The word had come out soft but desperate whisper. "Kevin… Kevin wait."
The motorcyclist didn't bother acknowledging him. He slammed his bedroom door shut, the force knocking the clock on his wall to the ground. Edd ran after him but was met with a looming and impenetrable wall of wood. He silently cursed its existence.
"Kevin, please open this door." He jiggled the handle but it gave no way. "Kevin I beg of you. Open this door. Talk to me."
The handle wouldn't budge but that didn't stop him from giving it a wild shake. He received nothing but silence in return. His stomach dropped.
"Please listen to me, I beg of you!"
Edd couldn't hold back the tears anymore. They fell of their own accord as he desperately pounded his hands on Kevin's bedroom door. His palms stung from the brute force but he didn't care. He hit the door harder.
"I have nothing to say to you." Kevin boomed from the other side of the door.
"Stop this childish behavior and speak to me like an adult!" Edd pleaded, unable to hide his ire.
His nails scratched tiny indentations into the door's glossy finish. His breathing felt labored but he trudged on, never having felt so dishonorable.
"I understand you are upset," He sniffled in a bid to keep a grip on his control. "But locking yourself in your room will solve nothing."
Reason, he told himself. Kevin will listen to reason. And he tried. Oh he tried so very hard to get him to come out but Kevin refused.
"Enough of this jealous tantrum of yours!"
Kevin was a stubborn man and Edd was growing sick of this.
"Come out so that we may talk about this like reasonable adults. Or is such a goal inconceivable even for you?"
He knew his words were biting but he couldn't stop. He was desperate to find a way to bring Kevin out to face him. Yell at me, scream at me, tell me I'm dirt but don't turn your back on me.
"Cease this display of juvenile delinquency and face me!"
When he heard music his hope deflated. He dropped his head on the face of the door, pressing hard enough to leave a little red mark on his forehead.
"Kevin, please." He begged against the music, sobbing uncontrollably. "Talk to me. Please. I need to hear your voice. Don't do this to me."
Edd smacked the door a couple of more times, earning only more music. The volume had increased during his yelling spree and all Edd could do was shuddered in despair. He slumped against the door and started to slide to the ground, his shaking legs no longer able to hold him up. Edd dropped his head to his hands in defeat and wept.
He wasn't sure how long he stayed that way, head bowed and knees tucked to his chest but it felt like forever before his body finally gave in to exhaustion. Ultimately he collapsed against the ground, hands tucked under his cheek as he lay frigid on the warm carpeted floor. Like a dog he waited patiently for Kevin to come out. He knew the red-head couldn't stay in there forever. He would have to come out eventually. In the meantime he would lay there on the floor, alone, staring blankly at the bottom of the door feeling the worst kind of misery he had ever felt.
Kevin on the other hand had no intention of coming out. Ever. Not while that traitor roamed freely about his home; but he felt like an animal trapped in a cage. The four walls of his room felt as they were enclosing on him, squeezing him into the center where he paced like a mad man. He needed out but he wasn't sure where to. The music blaring through his radio speakers had begun to hurt his ears but he paid the pain no mind. He punched his wall a couple of times, nailing the headboard of his bed once by mistake. He instantly regretted it, collapsing heavily onto his bed as his head coming to rest upon his injured palm. The skin was torn and fragments of dry wall stood erect in the fresh and open wounds. His arm burned and his fist throbbed, but it all eventually numbed.
At least that stopped him from punching any more holes in walls.
Eddward wasn't sure how, but by some miracle he had found the strength to stand.
Now he paced back and forth between his bed and the door way, mumbling incoherently to himself. Fresh tears were making their way down his face. His chest shuddered with every teary hiccup that past his lips, making his lips and mouth go unnaturally dry. He knew just standing around talking to himself was doing no one any good. Kevin was devastated and he wanted nothing more than to run into that stubborn boy's room and hold him; to kiss away that look of betrayal and promise him the sun and the moon and the stars, but what was the point? Kevin wouldn't listen. He wasn't even making sense to himself.
Finally Edd stopped his pacing. He collapsed onto the bed, the bridge of his fingers caressing the sweat from his brow. He wanted to scrub more than filth from his person, to rub his skin raw with an S.O.S. pad until he was clean once more. When had the lines of good and bad blurred? When did his indiscretions turn into something he had to be held accountable for? A night of fun was no longer just that. He should have known consequences follow everything you do in life- be it good or bad. However he could no longer determine what was wholly good or wholly bad anymore.
Soooo, what do you guys think? I'm biting my nails in suspense.
Can't wait to find out!
