Who is Edwin? Ok, I know you guy's have been yelling at me for a while, asking who this guy is and what not. Well here are the answers.

Yes he is our mystery guy

Yes he is rev!Edd. BUT WAIT! There's more.

Well actually Edwin is like rev!Edd but he isn't exactly. Say wha? Yeah, he is like him but not completely. Let me explain: for a while I've thought of many ways I could logically ingrain my own version of rev!Edd into this, seeing as his personality in striking contrast to that of Kevin's makes a beautiful chaotic balance for Edd. (Also I like eddxrev!edd but you don't see many of those fics, not that I'm making any predictions with this fic). Anyways, in my head I decided to make my version of rev!Edd his own man, not just a copy or a mirrored version. I changed his name to give his character some definition, though his persona may relate some to rev!Edd. I have no intentions of stealing the talented Asphyxion's character so I made one of my own. I do hope the differences are present. Like I made a whole back story for this guy and everything. Some mannerisms are similar but I tried adjusting them to make the character I see in my head come to life. Without giving away too much here are some of the personality adjustments I'm talking about.

1. Edwin isn't perfect, but strives for some semblance of balance through his obsessive compulsive personality.

2. He is bitter and unable to let grudges go. When he burns bridges he lights up the night sky in a blaze of glory.

3. His intelligence was earned. Not inherited.

4. Edd sees the world in a dark hue, ugly and unforgiving, and yet worth conquering because he himself is dark, ugly, and unforgivable.

5. Water is not his element. Rather, thunder storms and wind are. Think tornadoes; wild, sudden, and destructive.

6. Akin to his personality Edwin is much more angular and bony than Edd, who is softly curved throughout.

7. His words bite, strike and fester like venom from a snake's deadly kiss, while simultaneously humming like soft strums of a harp.

I hope this helps you guys understand him enough. I mean, I didn't want to give away too much but I understand this might be confusing. I'm so seriously happy to finally have him apart of the story. I've been waiting and plotting for a long time and now we can move into the next story arch.

Sorry this bit was so freakin' long. Onto the rest of the story~

Enjoy!

Edwin Blackwood had eyes like lighting. They were colored in a fine shade of pale blue; as blue as the reflection of ice in the Arctic Ocean if you wanted to get technical. They were stunning when the man radiated feelings of warmth, and when he grew cold those peeps could send haunting chills racing down even the toughest man's spine.

His face was pale, much like the rest of his body, with sharp angles and high cheek bones. His teeth, if Edd remembered correctly, and truthfully he did, were perfectly straight. His chin came to a point and his nose was neatly aligned at the center of his face. He stood as tall as Kevin, towering over Edd at five foot ten. His body was lanky, super skinny, his black leather jacket sitting heavily but comfortably on his shoulders while his legs were wrapped in tight fitted jeans. Hair as black as night framed his angular face, making the color of his eyes pop in a way that demanded attention.

Edd was left breathless watching, cupping the back of his head as the shock began to wear off and the throbbing started to build. From where his head had collided with the wall now stung. His fingers pressed hard into the bleeding scratch now adorning his crown, feeling the sticky residue painting the tips of his digits. He wouldn't need stitches for it, thank goodness, but he certainly felt like it did. He glanced down at the fallen mirror beside him. He didn't see any broken glass but he felt remiss seeing the lovely frame now bent and chipped.

The man named Edwin stepped over the body of the red-head, his long legs carrying him quickly to Eddward. The sockhead wasn't paying much attention, much too focused on the pain emanating at the back of his skull to notice the man kneel before him. Edwin took the boy's head into his gentle hands, tipping his head forward to inspect the damage.

"Mon petit," His voice carried the strict tone of a leader, yet velveteen and soothing to the ear like silk on skin.

Eddward inhaled sharply, breathing in the long forgotten scent of pine and pure masculinity. He shuddered on the exhale, his lips trembling.

"It hurts." He said in a whisper so soft it almost went unheard.

Edwin nodded, peeling away Edd's fingers to get a better look at the wound. Thankfully it was shallow, barely an inch in length.

"It requires a gentle washing and a treatment of Neosporin but you shan't need stiches."

Edwin spoke in such a precise and logical manner that it actually brought a sense of calm to the dork curled up on the floor. He couldn't deny the feelings of nostalgia as they hit him, hard, thrusting unwanted memories of Edwin's sweet voice into his head. A particular memory stuck out most to him; a fuzzy kind of image of the man above him holding his hand and whispering sweet nothings one night so many years ago. At first he tried to fight them, to push them and the feelings that came with them as far away as he could manage; but when he realized it futile he let them wash over him. Like ocean waves each memory pounded on the shores of his conscience begging to be acknowledged.

Of all the people in Eddward's world it just had to be Edwin who was here with him, cradling his head in soft and gentle hands, concern shinning like jewels in his eyes- those very eyes he had committed to memory so long ago and knew he would never forget.

"Edw-"

"What the fuck!"

Edd snapped his head up but instantly regretted it. His head was now swimming and the beginnings of a headache had just started.

Kevin sat up, rubbing his fist against his mouth. His hand came away with a dash of red streaked across his knuckles. If he hadn't known any better he could have sworn he felt his brain rattle about in his skull when he went down. His hip hurt from landing on it but thankfully nothing else did. Taking that as a personal victory Kevin started climbing to his feet, clasping his cheek in pain as his tongue ran absentmindedly across the cut in his mouth. Furious emerald eyes glared across at the stranger in his home, his instincts to protect Edd suddenly sky rocketing as he took Edwin's jarring presence into account.

"Who the hell are you?"

Edwin paid Kevin no mind, carefully letting go of Edd's head. He stood. "Mon petit pouvez-vous tenir ?"

Eddward nodded, albeit very slowly and attempted to stand. "I-I think I can."

Kevin got to his feet faster, stepping up behind Edwin and shoving the man's shoulder. The dark haired stranger whipped around, shoulders back and eyes screaming at the red-head in warning. Kevin didn't seem to get the memo and narrowed his eyes.

"I asked you a question asshole."

Forest green and arctic blue clashed, parks flying like the meeting point of two sharp blades. Kevin made a point to jab the man in the chest, rather surprised the stranger did not stumble back in return as he thought he would. Immediately Kevin knew this man not to be a coward. No, this man was a predator and in his eyes screamed pure malice.

"You know what I don't give a damn. Get the fuck out of my house."

Edwin's heart pounded with immense fury. Blood pumped as hot as coals through his veins, but he remained cool and collected on the surface. A smile the devil would envy spread across his handsome face, his lips curling to reveal perfect white teeth. Kevin felt a cold chill race down the center of his spine but he refused to back down, even as the stranger stalked closer to him. An essence of fierce control and energy emanated from him like the power of a dark angel. Kevin squared his shoulders.

"Well, you have something that belongs to me and I have every intention of taking him with me."

Kevin's eyes widened, flashing over to Edd in shock. The boy looked up to shake his head, using his hand to steady himself against the wall. Eddward had a horrible feeling something bad was about to happen and his intuition was usually never wrong.

"Edwin wait! Kevin please don't-"

The red-head snapped at Edwin. "Touch him again and I swear I'll-"

Kevin collapsed beneath the force of another punch, this time to his esophagus. He gasped, falling forward only to be caught by Edwin's surprisingly strong grip. The dark hired male pressed his lips to the shell of Kevin's ear and whispered, every word dripping from his lips like venom, hissed between tightly clenched teeth.

"Allow me to reiterate. I intend to take him from you. Far from you."

He pushed Kevin against the wall. Kevin stumbled but caught himself in time.

"No Edwin stop this! Don't hurt Kevin." Eddward started to hyperventilate.

Edwin spun around and knelt beside Edd, both of their eyes staring intensely into one another's.

"He has harmed you."

Eddward shook his head. "He didn't mean to."

Edwin narrowed his eyes. "I shall not allow him to do this to you again. You are far too precious to me for this to be allowed."

"But it was an accident!" The sockhead cried, gripping the other man's wrist so tightly he could feel his own hand shaking.

Edwin sighed, peeling Edd's finger from his wrist. "We must leave now."

Edd shook his head, feelings of dread filling him. "No."

"We must."

"No please I can't!" Edd scooted back only to bump into the wall, renewing the sting of his open wound. He gave a soft hiss of pain.

Edwin shook his head. "Enough of this."

The dark haired stranger knelt forward and shifted Edd's weight, throwing the boy over his shoulder with ease. Edd struggled at first, pushing at Edwin's shoulder, but the sudden swimming in his head threw his sense of balance right out the window. He couldn't fight the dizziness for long and immediately fell pliant against Edwin's shoulder, the world tilting on its side as his arms hung uselessly.

Heading for the door Edwin cast a withering glare back at Kevin. The red-head was still on the floor, coughing and wheezing as he fought to breathe back the wind that been knocked right out of him. It was all in a matter of seconds this happened, leaving both Kevin and Eddward dazed and horribly confused.

"Don't expect to ever see him again."

For good measure Edwin delivered a one final blow on the red-head, his foot connecting at the dead center of Kevin's stomach. Kevin howled, dropping like lead to the floor. Without so much as a word Edd was carried away; from the gasping red-head and from this place that couldn't be trusted.

Edwin walked with purpose, carrying the half-naked boy on his shoulder down the hall, out of the elevator, and through the lobby. People in the waiting room fixed him with curious stares but he ignored every single one of them. He kicked open the lobby door and made his way out side where a yellow taxi cab sat waiting for them. The driver was standing next to the hood of his car, a map spread open and a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth.

"Where to mate?" The cabby asked in a thick Australian accent.

"John F. Kennedy International Airport."

Edwin opened the back door of the cab and very carefully set Eddward inside. He tucked the boy into the far side of the car, reaching forward to buckle him in when a shaking pale hand grabbed his own. Eddward's eyes danced pleadingly and he did not let go even as Edwin started to wrestle out of his grasp. The pain in his head was starting to go away and his cognitive faculties were slowly coming back to order.

"I can't leave."

"You can't stay." Edwin said in a simple but commanding voice. "You are needed home."

Hot tears burned in the corner of his eyes. "I am needed here."

Edwin growled in frustration. "Eddward enough of this. Your mother needs you home this very instant."

The sockhead turned his head at the mention of his mother, glaring at the back of the driver's seat. He didn't want to have to think of that woman. Not now. Not ever.

"I don't know how you found me but I refuse to go back. Not for her."

Sensing the boy's defiance Edwin hardened his voice, making him sound firm and unmovable.

"That is enough. I will have none of your childish behavior."

"I am not a child!" Edd screamed. "This is my decision. You can't force me to do this."

The taller man raked his fingers through his hair beneath his cap, strands of silky black falling to frame his face. He wanted to raise his voice but remained resolute not to do so. There was enough tension boiling over as it was. Instead he sucked in a calming breath, locking his uneasy gaze with Edd's audacious stare. He didn't want to say it; lord knew he didn't, but Edd needed to know. He grabbed his hand.

"Eddward listen to me."

Edd shook his hand free but Edwin grabbed it back, entwining their fingers. "Edd knock this off. I need you to listen for just one moment."

"No I will not listen." Edd tried once more to shake him off but this time it proved futile.

"Damn it Double D listen to me!"

Eddward was rendered frozen by that long lost nickname. Edwin captured both of Edd's arms, dragging the boy so close their faces came within inches of one another. Each could feel the heat of the other's breath washing over their faces, somehow drowning out the rest of the world. Eddward's eyes searched Edwin's desperately, seeking the freedom he wanted but finding no give in the man's iron constitution. Edwin's point would be made come hell or high water and he felt foolish for thinking otherwise.

The look in Edwin's eyes hardened, the corners of his mouth pulled taught as he spoke.

"Your mother tried to kill herself." His gripped tightened in support. "Eddward you are needed home. She needs you. I need you."

The sockhead's eyes glossed over and Edwin swore he heard the sound of the boy's heart break in the silence of that cab. When they return home he was sure to share a few choice words with that idiot woman. Of all the terrible things she had to put her son through, this had to be the lowest.

"Mother? She tried to…" A shadow of despair and disbelief filtered over Edd's eyes. She tried to take her life?

He looked up into Edwin's eyes, watching as they softened. Edwin pulled him into his arms.

"Mother." Edd's eyes now stung as a single solitary tear wet a salty path down his cheek. He started to hyper ventilate once more. "Mother, she-"

"Eddward I'm so sorry." Edwin held him fast, enveloping the boy in a tight an embrace. "Shh mon petit. Everything will be fine. Everything will be ok."

The sockhead dropped his forehead onto the older man's chest, smothering the tear from his face. The scent of pine filled his nostrils and Eddward allowed it to wash a sense of silent calm over him. The chest he rested against was hot but he welcomed the heat. After what Edwin had told him he felt cold. Ice cold. Practically numb to the bone. It's just the shock, his brain told him but knowing that did little to bring back the sense of rebellious feeling he had felt only moments ago. To him it felt as though the world had suddenly come crashing down. His one and only mother had tried to steal her own life from this world.

How? When?

His heart squeezed in agony. Why?

Edwin caressed his fingers through Edd's hair. He took notice of a missing certain hat but said nothing of it; instead tilting the boy back just enough to stare into those teary blue depths. Oh how he missed those eyes, those gentle and intelligent eyes. Oh Eddward how I have missed you.

"We must go to her."

He caressed Edd's cheek, his thumb brushing over the cold spot where the sockhead's tear had eventually dried.

Ok so there you have it. Let me know what you think. I'm actually nervous to see what you guys think of Edwin. Hopefully you see him the way I do, at least a little bit. Anyways thanks for reading!

Ciao! :)
