Big Time Vacation Chapter 5
Cammie's POV. Same day, same time.
"Not stealing. Borrowing, Blackthorne Boy." I replied. Then, I faked surprise and did a double take. "Blackthorne Boy?"
I jumped up from my seat and turned around.
"What are you doing here?"
"Grant's dad is photographing the gala on Saturday evening."
"And you didn't tell me?" I exclaimed.
"I thought girls usually like surprising, romantic gestures." Zach said, smirking.
"Well I'm not a usual girl, now am I?"
"No you're not. You're much much cooler." Zach said, leaning into kiss me.
"We're *cough* still here *cough cough.* " Kendall said.
Zach and I pulled away from each other, sheepish.
"Okay, Zach and I are going to go over there," I pointed to a slightly more secluded area just out of hearing distance, "and talk. No one will follow us. No one will watch or try to eavesdrop." We walked over to the more secluded area.
"So, to recap, Grant's dad, who is a photographer, has to take all these publicity pics of this gala, and you and Grant tagged along with him."
"Precisely."
"Now, what are you doing here at the Palmwoods?"
"I wanted to see you."
"While that's very sweet, I'm not quite buying it."
"And why not?"
"The concept is sweet. You are not."
"What are you talking about Gallagher Girl? I'm so sweet I give people cavities just by walking into a room."
"Well Blackthorne Boy, I beg to differ."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Well, maybe this will change your mind." And he leaned into kiss me.
As his lips touched mine, I felt sparks fly.
"That doesn't prove that you're sweet. It just proves you're a decent kisser."
"Just decent?"
"Yeah. Now what are you really doing here?"
"I wanted to see you. And I heard you had a mission."
"I can handle my own missions."
"I know. But, I figured who knows teenage guys better than teenage guys. Makes it easier to figure out their weaknesses, those that can be used against them."
"Ugh. Fine." The one point I can't argue with the "don't underestimate a Gallagher Girl line." That's just great. (A/N, italics=thought).
Zach and I headed back to the pool.
"I gotta go. Grant was going on about some restaurant near Dodgers Stadium that he wants to try." (A/N, I don't own Dodgers Stadium, or the Dodgers, or Phillipe's (that's the restaurant near Dodgers Stadium, it's really good, home of the original French Dip sandwich)).
"See you later."
I settled back into my lounge chair, but a few minutes later I got interrupted by James.
"So, why wouldn't Macey McHenry want to date me? Have you seen me, I'm handsome."
"She doesn't like pretty boys."
"Everyone likes me."
"Not everyone."
"I'll bet you fifty bucks I can get Macey McHenry to go to the gala with me."
"I'll take that bet. But we need some ground rules."
"Such as?"
"1. Obviously you can't ask me for help in any way, shape, or form. I can introduce you two if we happen to run into her, but that's it. Neither of us can tell her about the bet until after the gala starts. And, no using press to pressure her. Don't hint anything. It's not fair, and she will kill you for doing it. Deal?"
"Deal."
