"Professor Cypress! I'm back!" Davin called. He had just got back to Blazehill Town and he wanted to pay her a visit.
"Welcome home, Davin." she greeted with a smile. "How have you been?"
"Great. I had a really great time in Hoenn; I've made new friends and learned a bunch of stuff."
"That's good." her smile lessened. "Sorry about your lost in Ever Grande City."
"You were watching?!" He asked, surprised.
"Of course. You didn't think I would miss one of your Pokemon League battles, did you?"
He chuckled a bit. "I guess not." Right then, something occurred in his thoughts. "By the way, how are my Pokemon doing?"
She gestured her hand behind her. "Go see for yourself. They're out back as we speak."
"Cool." Davin placed his bag on one of her chairs and took off.
When he exited through the back, he came across the wide open field that he saw when he came home from his first journey. Pokemon were running around and playing in various areas and having a good time.
Davin ran further into the field and put his hands to the side of his mouth. "Heeeey! It's me, Davin! Come on out, you guys!" He waited for a few seconds, but he got no response. "Huh... You'd think that since I was coming home today that they would come running to greet me." He decided to run even further into the field to see if he could find them.
"Guys! You here?!" He shouted as he walked near a tree. "It's Davin! Wherever you're hiding, come o-" He was cut off when he felt something heavy jump on him from the trees and knock him to the ground. He looked up to see a smiling monkey that had a flame burning on the top of its head.
"Aduro!" Davin smiled as he hugged it. "How've you been, buddy?"
"Fer, Infernape!" It responded, happy to see its trainer again.
They both lifted themselves from the ground. "Where are the others?" Davin asked.
"Infer." Aduro pointed to the north.
"Well, let's go!" He took off running in the designated direction with the Flame Pokemon following behind.
Few seconds later, they arrived at a hilltop where several familiar Pokemon were sleeping.
"Heeeeey! Guys, wake up! I'm back!" Davin shouted. A few of them awoke from the noise and when they saw who was coming, they immediately ran towards him.
First, Davin was hugged by a blue, bipedal jackal. "Socius! Good to see you!"
"Rio!" He greeted him.
Then, a light green dragon landed beside him and nuzzled his cheek. "Hi, Sander."
"Flygon, Fly!" It said happily.
Next, a red and yellow creature said hello by giving him a one-armed hug. "Great to see you, Hearth!"
"Magmortar!" He smiled.
A small metal creature with magnets used Thunderbolt on him, surprising the boy as he felt the pain. "Heh, heh. I'm happy to see you too, Zapter."
"Mag-nemite!" It greeted him.
To the boy's second surprise, something wrapped around him and carried him halfway into the air. He then felt a hard-surfaced head rubbing against the side of his face. "Maximus! Hey!"
"Steel, Steelix!" It said with a grin.
When Maximus put him down, he was finally hugged by a large, green, bipedal gecko who was his most special friend. "Bark! How's my first buddy doing?"
"Sceptile! Scep, Scep!" He happily said.
Davin took a few steps back from them. "It's really great to see you guys again." He took out six Poke balls from his pocket. "And now, I want you to meet my friends from Hoenn!" The balls flew into the air, releasing their contained Pokemon. He gestured to his recent friends. "Everyone, this is Ros, Halo, Luck, Ferro, Ira, and Kalis." He turned towards them and gestured to his old friends. "Guys, this is Bark, Aduro, Socius, Hearth, Sander, Maximus, and Zapter. Say hi."
Ros went over to Bark. Seeing how that he was the evolved form of Treecko, one of his companions when he was with Prof. Birch, he shook hands with the Forest Pokemon.
Ferro went to Maximus and happily greeted his fellow Steel type, to which the Iron Snake Pokemon responded with a smile.
Halo joined Sander in the air as they flew around each other joyously.
Aduro went up to Luck, who was lazily lying on the grass, and said hello, which the Lazy Pokemon just responded to with a wave of his hand.
Ira and Hearth seemed to have got along and Kalis, Socius, and Zapter greeted each other gleefully.
"Good. Everyone's happy." The boy smiled.
"Davin!" Prof. Cypress called as she ran towards them.
"What's wrong?"
"The Pokemon egg you had in your backpack. It's starting to hatch!"
"Really?!" Davin took off towards the lab as fast as he could, leaving a trail of dust as he ran.
When he got inside, he found the egg on the table and it was flashing white.
He knelt down on the floor. "Here it comes... The Pokemon I received from him..."
The egg flashed a couple more times before it glowed completely white; it began to form into something that was standing on all fours. Eventually, the light subsided and a familiar Pokemon stood in place of the egg, with its body light green, several dots around its neck, and a large leaf sticking out from its head.
"It's a Chikorita!" Davin gasped as he took out his Pokedex.
"Chikorita, the Leaf Pokemon. It uses the leaf on its head to determine the temperature and humidity and it has a love for sunbathing."
"Hi there, Chikorita. My name is Davin." He greeted.
"Chika, Chika." It smiled at him.
Davin petted its back. "So, if you came out to be a Chikorita, then that means Haro's Meganium was the one that gave birth to you. That's great!"
"Is everything alright?" The professor said as she peeked in the room.
Davin picked up Chikorita in his arms and showed it to her. "Everything's just fine!"
"So it was a Chikorita." She said as she went over to them. "That's a pretty rare Pokemon." She knelt down to see it, face to face. "Hello there."
"Chika!" It gasped, buring its face into Davin's chest.
"Guess it's a little shy." he noticed.
"Well, it did just hatch. I'm sure it'll get used to strangers someday." she said, standing up. "Which reminds me, Davin, I've been meaning to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"Well, since you're done with the Hoenn League, what're you planning to do now?"
Davin lowered his head for a moment in thought and then raised it back up. "Well, I have an idea... but I'm not sure if I should do it."
"Well, why wouldn't you?"
He set Chikorita on the table. "It's just... I've lost two leagues in a row, and I was sure I would be able to win in Hoenn if I trained my Pokemon differently, but... I realized it wasn't my Pokemon who needed training... It was me..." he sighed. "All this time, I never realized that it was my fault for losing. I was so blinded by wanting to become the best I could be that I lost myself and wasn't thinking the way I should... I don't know what I should do..."
"Chika..." Chikorita looked at him with concern.
"Well, don't let that stop you." Prof. Cypress said, making Davin look at her in confusion. "If being a Pokemon Master is what you want to be, then you need to keep pushing yourself in order to reach it. No matter what kind of obstacles are in your way, whether they be physical or emotional, you should always keep trying if you want to be the best at what you're doing." she winked. "That's a fact."
Davin pondered her words for a second and suddenly nodded. "You're right, Professor! I can't let this lost keep me down; I just need to keep going and learn as I reach my goal!"
"That's the trainer I know!" she chuckled. "So, where do you plan on going next?"
He smiled with determination. "That's easy. I'm going to Sinnoh!"
"Sinnoh?"
He nodded. "I've heard that Sinnoh is a great place, and I'm sure I'll be able to learn great things while I'm there. Then, when I'm ready, I swear that... No... I PLEDGE that I'll win Sinnoh's Pokemon League for sure!"
"Chika!" Chikorita smiled at Davin's spirit.
"That's great." The professor smiled. "And who do you plan on taking with you on this journey?"
"Well, I've been thinking about it, and there's only two Pokemon who I want to go with me." He picked up the baby Pokemon. "Chikorita..." he put two fingers in his mouth and whistled, making his Magnemite come out of hiding from the backroom and levitate to his side. "...and Zapter!"
"Chika/Magne!" They cheered in unison.
"What an interesting pair." she noted.
"Professor, will you take care of my Hoenn team while I'm gone?"
"Of course." she smiled.
Davin nodded. "All right, you two, we leave first thing in the morning, so get ready!"
"Magnemite!" Zapter nodded.
"Chika!" Chikorita nodded as well.
The day after, Davin had gathered his things, said goodbye to the Professor and his Pokemon, and was on the ferry that was going to Sinnoh. He had let out Zapter and Hana, his Chikorita, so that they could enjoy the ride.
"This is it, guys... New places to go, new Pokemon to catch, and new battles to face. Let's go and win the Sinnoh League!"
"Chikori!" Hana rejoiced.
"Magne, Magne, Mite!" Zapter cheered.
The ferry continued on with the boy from Varex, his Electric type magnet, and his new born Grass type ready for a brand new adventure!
