The road between Carrollglen and Flowerton couldn't have been longer and more irritating. The normal banter of town folks that passed each other didn't seem to interest Rayanne in the slightest as she only had her mind set to deliver everything she needed to and hurry to meet Lawral at the Library. One by one the family farms faded and small groups of houses on the outskirts of the city began to appear. Pippa,, the old horse that had been around as long as Rayanne could remember, slowly made her way down the path she had traveled a thousand time with no concern of how her passenger was in mental anguish at the thought of this painfully slow pace at which she traveled. There was nothing for Rayanne to do but wait patiently as the tops of the buildings of Flowerton made their appearance in the morning sun over the hills she was winding through.

Darvin, the town elder, greeted her with a smile and a pat on the back as she made her way into his home with the Milk and other various treats of the week. "You know dear, your visit is the highlight of my week." A sweet smile inched across his wrinkled face. As he started to go into the weekly news of no great importance to Rayanne, she nodded and tried to be as polite as possible. "Lawral not with you today? It's almost odd to see you two apart; even when you were at the farm and her in town I can tell your bond is strong. It's important to have friends like that in your life, but then again what do I know, a lonely old man." Darvin let out a snort and walked towards his desk as she picked up the last of her bartered good form him and walked towards the door.

"One last thing dear," Darvin spoke quietly as he shuffled through the mounds of paperwork on his desk. "This letter came for your parents from the council this week. I'm not sure why they would need to contact them directly and not Jakob, but non the less please make sure that they receive this when you get home. You know how they get." It was odd that the council of Vihn was trying to contact her folks rather than taking up their business with Jakob the town elder of Carrollglen and neighbor to Rayanne and her family. But she figured since it seemed important she wouldn't waste time asking too much about it. As she said good bye and went to the various other stores and homes to do the last bit of the deliveries she was half tempted to just drop off the goods at the doorsteps and hurry to the library where her friend was waiting.

Half the day was already gone when Pippa pulled up in front of the Vihn Library and stopped out of habit by the side where she could drink from the water buckets lined up just for her. Rayanne barely waited for the cart to come to a halt before jumping out and running to the back stairs satchel banging against her back as she skipped every second step to the top. The smell of the sweet breads once again smacked her in the face as the door swung open and there stood Lawral with a look of sheer delight that seemed to encompass her entire body. The girls hugged and Rayanne made her usual greeting to Lawral's mother as she was handed a plate filled to the top with treats from the kitchen.

"So…tell me!" Rayanne squealed as Lawral and her made their way to the table.

"About what?" Lawral looked at her friend as if there wasn't a clue as to what she might want to know.

"You cruel girl! How can you do that to my poor heart and me. You know damn well what I want!" Lawral's mother looked up and gave Rayanne a look that only a mother could when foul language was spoken in their presence. "I'm so sorry, I'm just…well your daughter I mean…I am sorry." Rayanne blushed and lowered her voice as she leaned in towards the other girl.

"Oh the visions you mean?" Lawral remarked with a coy look on her face, the idea of egging on her best friend was always a fun game to her. Even as a child, Lawral demonstrated the patience of one that was many years her senior while her friend sadly did not. And this was used against her whenever a good laugh was wanted. "Well eat up and then we can go to my room and you can look after my notes." Lawral was very good about recording everything she foresaw in her journals, as her family did for generations. It was said reading those books could give you the future laid out before you in a neat beautiful binding. Even before Lawral finished speaking Rayanne was stuffing her mouth to the brim in an attempt to clear her plate as quickly as possible. Just was she was about to take her last bite, Lawrl poured her a mug of milk and started to stand up from the table and walk to the back where her room was.

Rayanne plopped on the straw bed and reached over to the night stand where Lawral kept all her dream diaries. "Turn to the last three pages that are written on" Lawral said as she pointed to the book in Rayanne's hand. Without wasting another minute Rayanne was reading over what appeared to be a jumbled mess of words that made as little sense to her as it seemed to Lawral or her mother. As she flipped back and forth between the pages, she was desperately trying to make a connection between the three prophecies.

Marsday 24th day of Fall harvest Year 2336

Within the forest where no one visits, there will be a music note you must follow to find the first key to unlocking happiness. There will be a toll you must pay to hear the melody, which can only be paid for with the tears of ones soul. Once paid in full, there will be a storm of epic colors and the birds will return to roost.

Thorsday 27th day of Fall harvest Year 2336

Deep in the core of Gearth will spring forth a tree trunk that cannot be moved until you can crack open the giants mouth to let flow the eternal spirit of life on to it. You yourself cannot handle this task alone and will require a champion unwilling to be of service until their time for forgiveness is past and their transgressions are clear.

Fryday 28th day of Fall harvest Year 2336

Darkness and cold will be the end of your journey if you are not patient and listen to the ways of nature around you. Not even the birds of the sky or creatures of the dirt and muck can be of help, only time will be your assistant in getting past what blocks your wishes and desires. Do not listen to those around you but only to your inner being as to your final decision in the matter at hand.

"Well clearly your dreams are a mess," Rayanne laughed as she continued to read and read again the last three entries in the journal. "What in Hega's name do they mean? I'm no genius but I can even begin to think where any of this leads too? Is it what the notes meant you doodled in the book?"

"That's just it, I wasn't sure until I was able to talk with my uncle this morning." Lawral said softly as a mischievous grin appeared on her lips. "It was clear as day when you think about it. Read the notes, it mentions about a forest you cannot pass a river dried up and a pathway you cannot pass until springtime!" Lawral began pacing back and forth waiting for it all to click within Rayanne's mind. Getting impatient but not wanting to take away from the eventually discovery she was sure would hit, Lawral sat down on the floor directly in front of the bed and began to bite her lower lip as Rayanne worked out slowly the steps it took to connect it all.

"I'm lost." Rayanne finally spoke up after what seemed like an eternity to her best friend. "Are these the steps I need to take? Where would they lead me if I did? A song, a giant's mouth, time as a friend?" Looking puzzled as ever.

"YES! See each dream was a clue to the places mentioned in the book, the author of the book never talks of how he or she made it through each obstacle and with all the research I have been doing I think I have pinpointed the three places you need to visit to be able to able to make it to the wizard of the mountains and be able to find your gift!" Lawral spilled over in joy almost not able to speak the words as they left her lips in a speed that would confuse a casual listener. "The location of the Wizard was long ago lost, but if you look at this map," She pointed to the one unrolled on her desk. "You can see I think I have figured out the route."

"This means…wait, is it true? This is the way that I need to go to seek what I've dreamed of?" Rayanne whispered in disbelief.

"The route WE need to take, you think I'm going to let you have all the fun and adventure without me?" Lawral beamed as she and Rayanne stared at the piece of paper unfolded and marked on by the sage herself. Rayanne leaned back in the desk chair, took a deep breathe as a tear rolled down her cheek. This was it, clear as day, the gift would be found.
