A/N: I'm just an updatin' fool lately! LOL... I know. You wish it was more. This bit is a little shortish, but it was a natural breaking point. I hope you like it anyway. It's pretty fluffy!

Disclaimer: I own nothing except the children.

It was common knowledge that Sherlock could weave words in such a way that even the most venomous insult slipped from his lips like a poetic masterpiece. He often left his opponents reeling for several moments, wondering if they'd been insulted. That being said, he had also been known to spew forth a vulgar array of curses that would make even the most rugged of sailors blush. Much to Molly's chagrin, he'd passed this trait on to Gabriel who was so gifted at swearing that his teacher had threatened to suspend him from school if he didn't watch his language. So it was no surprise to anyone that Will's first word was "shit." It was small with only one syllable and easy to trip off of his stumbling year-old tongue.

Gabriel was the first to hear it. It was a rainy afternoon and instead of practicing his violin like he was supposed to, he was rotting his brain with a video game. Will was sitting on the rug beside him, playing with a pair of their father's socks. No one was sure why Will was fascinated with Sherlock's socks, but if they gave him a pair he'd be quiet and out of the way for hours. Perhaps he was just keen to avoid his twin brother's fate. Finn had been hijacked by Scarlett, Isabel and Jada for a tea party ages ago.

The game Gabriel was playing was particularly frustrating. He hadn't played it much since John gave it to him because his mum hated it so much. It was violent and scary—two things Gabe loved in a game. She'd probably birth kittens if she knew that he was playing it with his baby brother there. But Will wasn't even paying attention. In fact, the kid was so quiet that Gabriel had forgotten he was even in the room. Each time the little man on the screen was devoured by the zombie or fell off the narrow bridge, Gabriel would curse under his breath. "Shit," he hissed as the little man died once again.

"Gabriel! Watch your language," Mary scolded from where she sat at the bar in the kitchen reading her book.

"Sorry, Mary," Gabriel apologized. In his mind he resolved to continue to curse as he liked, just do it quieter.

"Your father really needs to do something about your mouth, Gabe."

"He can't say a word," Gabriel replied, his eyes still glued to the screen. "He's just as bad as me. Probably worse."

"Yes, and he should stop it too."

"We can't help it. Sometimes bad words are the only ones that fit."

"Well it isn't nice."

"Yes, Mary."

"It's going to get you into trouble."

"Yes, Mary."

"And you're such a sweet boy, Gabe. You don't want people to think you're a nasty little punk."

"Yes, Mary."

"Are you listening to me at all?"

"Yes, Mary."

Mary sighed and went back to her book, grumbling to herself. "Your father should beat you every day from now until you're twenty-one. You're getting far too mouthy lately."

"Yes, Mary." She couldn't see him smirking, knowing that he'd won this round of their argument. He also knew that Sherlock would never say anything to him for fear of being called out as a hypocrite.

Gabriel went back to playing his game and after a few more attempts, made it past the obstacle and carried on. Every now and then he would glance over at Will to see the toddler attempting to put Sherlock's sock over his tiny foot. Much like his older brother, he was determined to get it done if he had to keep trying over and over all night. Finally, he managed to get it over his toes and halfway down his foot. He stared at his foot strangely as if working out that it was still indeed part of him even now that there was a bit of black wool covering his toes.

"What are you doing, Will?" Gabriel asked. His brother looked up at him and made a questioning sort of growl. "Do you want me to take it off?" Will pointed at the sock and whined. Gabriel reached over and pulled the sock off of Will's foot to which the baby responded with an angry cry. "What? You were whining about it!" Will ignored him and struggled to put the sock back on his foot. Over and over he'd lean forward, trying to hook the opening over his toes again, but his short little arms were just out of reach. Finally, just as he was about to get it, his wobbly center of gravity overtook him and he toppled over.

"Shit!" the toddler exclaimed. It was garbled, but Gabe recognized the word immediately and his eyes went wide. He glanced behind and luckily Mary was no longer sitting at the table.

"Sssshhh…Will. Don't say that word!" Gabriel hissed.

"Shit!" Will replied, laughing at the perplexed look on his brother's face.

"No!" Gabriel scolded, looking to make sure no one was watching.

The toddler was then convinced that he had done something extremely funny and began repeating it over and over, bouncing with delight as he said it.

Gabriel dropped the video game controller and grabbed Will, trying to put his hand over the child's mouth. Will just kept right on chanting, not deterred in the least by his older brother's insistence that he stop screaming "shit" at the top of his tiny lungs.

"Gabriel! What are you doing?" His head snapped up to where Mary was standing over them, hands on hips.

"Shit," Gabriel and Will replied together.

OoOoOo

"Finn! You're messing up the table!" Scarlett groaned as her baby brother grabbed the lacy tablecloth and tugged, nearly pulling the tea set into his lap. The toddler giggled at Scarlett's angry face and tugged again. "Stop it!"

"He's just a baby," Jada argued. "He doesn't understand yet."

"Well that's hardly going to help us when he spills tea all over the floor," Scarlett reasoned. She grabbed her brother and set him down on her lap, untangling his chubby fingers from the cloth. "You're a disaster, Phineas Scott," Scarlett scolded. "Be glad that you lot don't have a baby at your house. They mess everything up."

Jada laughed. "I think babies are adorable," she reached for Finn, tickling under his arm until he giggled. "I used to take care of babies at my last house."

"They are not adorable," Isabel agreed. "They throw their food all over and they chew on everything. They're like dogs. I hope we don't ever have any babies."

Scarlett nodded, agreeing with her friend. "If my mummy and daddy have any more babies, I'm going to live with Nena."

Jada smiled and took Finn from Scarlett. He crowed happily and grabbed a handful of Jada's hair. He liked the texture of her curls around his fingertips and was always boinging them. She gave him a squeeze and cradled his body in the crook of her arm even though he barely fit anymore. "You can't live with Mrs. Hudson. She's not your mum."

"She said I could stay in her flat anytime I wanted," Scarlett defended. "I like Will and Finn but they get on my nerves."

"Now what if Gabriel said that about you?" Jada said.

"He does," Scarlett and Isabel replied in unison.

"Gabriel and Katie Adams tried to sell her for a fiver when she was born," Isabel said.

"How do you know that?" Scarlett asked.

"My daddy told me."

"Oh."

Jada giggled. "Well I think Will and Finn are absolutely adorable. You can come stay at my house anytime you want," she cooed. "When I grow up I'm going to have lots of babies."

Isabel scoffed. "I hope you aren't living at our house anymore then."

Jada laughed. "Of course not, silly. I'm going to get married and have babies at my own house."

"When?" Scarlett asked.

"When I'm twenty-five," Jada replied as if she'd been thinking of it her whole life. "That will be perfect because I will be twenty-five and Gabriel will be thirty." At hearing his brother's name, Finn grinned.

"Gabriel?!" Scarlett and Izzy exclaimed.

"Yep. I'm going to marry Gabriel when I grow up."

"Eeewww," they squealed.

"Why not?" Jada asked.

"Gabriel is too old for you," Scarlett said. "He's already thirteen and you're only eight."

"Besides," Izzy interrupted. "Gabriel's going to marry Katie Adams."

"Why do you think that?" Jada asked.

"Because they like each other. They kiss each other all the time," Scarlett said, pouring out another cup of 'tea' for her enormous teddy bear. "Like movie star kissing."

Jada considered this for a moment and then shrugged. "I don't care. I'm going to marry Gabriel when I grow up."
