Sora did not know how to react when he looked right into Chaos's blood red eyes and could only stare at the god. Without showing it, Sora truly was angry at himself for not trying to close the Door to Darkness, if he and Kairi had done that, this wouldn't be happening right now.
But then Sora realized something: where was Kairi? He remembered seeing her right before Chaos made his grand appearance, but where had she gone to now? Was she alright? Did she get burned by the scorching flames that Chaos summoned?
Before Sora could worry about Kairi anymore, he heard Chaos chuckle in a deep voice. "So, you are the keyblader Xehanort had warned me about?" The god laughed again, "I see nothing to worry."
Chaos snapped his fingers, and when he did that, the fire around the area disappeared. The cleared air finally allowed for Sora to take in a deep breath without smoke entering his lungs. That amazing feeling of your lungs being filled with air did not last long, since Chaos wrapped his fingers around Sora's neck and began to lift him into the air. "You did destroy Xehanort's will, correct? It doesn't surprise me, he was such a fool," he laughed, "He even believed that we would rule the worlds together once I was freed."
Sora struggled to take in a breath every minute that passed. But he couldn't help but be shocked at the fact that Chaos lied to Xehanort about ruling with him.
"I suppose I should thank you, now I don't have to kill him or the rest of his pathetic Organization by myself," the god continued.
Sora was losing breath faster than he had predicted he would and began to panic: he needed to get out of Chaos' grip, find Kairi, and get everyone to safety. So, in an act of desperation, Sora summoned his keyblade and attempted to hit Chaos with it, but the god took his free hand and stopped Sora from doing to, grabbing onto his wrist to prevent the attack.
"So strong!" Chaos said sarcastically, "The keyblade must have made a mistake choosing you. There are thousands stronger that don't have the keyblade, like myself, who have been praying for one for centuries." He looked away, "Why do you think I started the first Keyblade War to forge the X-Blade? To gain the legendary keyblade and use it for myself."
Chaos let go of Sora's arm, which wouldn't make a difference since he was so out of breath he couldn't even raise his arm anymore, and brought his hand out, which was glowing with darkness. "Perhaps, if I kill you, then the keyblade might choose me."
Sora didn't look away when Chaos brought his hand closer to him; if he was going to die, he was going to do so not looking afraid. But before Chaos could bring his hand down on Sora, the keyblader saw slight pain in his red eyes and a bright light coming off of the god's back.
Chaos laughed and let go of Sora, who fell to the ground and gasped for air, trying to regain his strength with every gulp of air. "I was wondering where you headed off to," Chaos said, "Nice for you to finally show up."
Sora did not know who he was talking about until he looked at where Chaos had turned to. It was then when he saw Kairi, standing boldly in front of Chaos with her keyblade pointed at him, obviously firing a blast of light at the god which made him let go of Sora. "You are the Princess of Heart Xehanort offered to me?" The god asked.
"I am not going to be offered to anyone," Kairi bravely said, "No one deserves to be gifted to someone else, no matter how much power they have. You might be a god, but you are really nothing but a bully who uses his power to step on other people. You wonder why the keyblade didn't choose you but yet the answer is right in front of your face: you simply don't have the light or will to wield one."
Chaos raised an eyebrow at Kairi before he laughed and looked back at Sora. "I can see why Xehanort wanted to give her to me," he turned back to the princess, "She has heart."
When Sora had finally found enough strength to stand, Chaos continued to speak saying, "I am afraid the strength of your hearts will not help you now. These worlds are destined to be ruled by me and forever live in darkness, nothing will stop it."
"You don't know a thing about destiny if you think we are going to let you do that," Sora exclaimed.
"Ha, you really believe you two can stop me? The worlds' strongest keyblader and a Princess of Heart are not going to stop me. Besides, I am at my strongest with the Door of Darkness present; I am truly the most powerful being in this world right now."
"Maybe alone we wouldn't be able to stop you, but together, and with our friends supporting us even though they are not present, we will defeat you." Kairi said as she looked over to Sora, who had his keyblade in hand, prepared to stop Chaos together.
Chaos, amused by the two's bravery, laughed again before he held his arms out, and he immediately began to glow with a thin layer of darkness surrounding his body. (Chaos Last Battle – Dissidia: Final Fantasy) "Then let the final battle of your lives begin," Chaos yelled, his eyes glowing a dangerous red before he let out an shattering screech that the keybladers could have sworn shook the whole area. They were not about to let a yell scare them off though, they knew they had to win, if they didn't, the worlds would pay the price.
As soon as Chaos stopped his screeching, Sora and Kairi both ran at him full speed, summoning their armor as they did so, hoping to have the god cornered since they were both on opposite sides of him. Chaos however, already had thought ten steps ahead of them and used his dark powers to levitate in the air, avoiding their attacks. Sora and Kairi stopped just in time before they ran into each other, and at the same time, they looked up at Chaos, who mocked them as he floated into the air. The god of discord then brought his hands out, which made the area seem noticeably darker, and the two could practically feel the heat coming up from under them. Sora and Kairi's eyes moved down to the ground to see a red glow coming from beneath them, and knew at that moment that they had to jump out of the way. The two did so just in time before a huge eruption of lava and fire took their place, which only left a huff of black smoke behind to take its place. Followed by this eruption was several more, all that were targeted right below Sora and Kairi, who both learned early on that it was smart for them to split up so it would be harder for the god to hit them.
Once Chaos had finished his first attack, he began to levitate back towards the ground slowly, which Sora saw as the perfect opportunity to strike. However, when Sora was mere seconds away from striking Chaos, the god quickly brought his hand down into the ground, which caused a huge rock with lava over it to come out of the ground. This attack hit Sora dead on, making the keyblader fly backwards towards the Door to Darkness, but he thankfully recovered and managed to land on his feet. As Sora recovered, Kairi ran towards Chaos as well, firing multiple light attacks, since those seemed to do some damage to the god before. Several of the light blasts hit Chaos, which caused him to slightly flinch, but before he could lose any more of the little damage he was receiving, he brought up a reflect shield, similar to the ones the keybladers used, but it was covered in darkness. Kairi noticed her own attack coming back at her when the light hit the shield, and managed to move out of the way before they hit her.
When Chaos brought his reflect shield of darkness down, he looked over, seeing Kairi and the now recovered Sora running towards him once again. He grinned, and the two did not know why, but when they made it over to him, instead of actually hitting the god, they ran right into one of his attacks, which was a small explosion of fire that met them. The two heroes went flying back at the impact, but as he was flying away from Chaos, Sora had managed to bring up his keyblade and throw it at Chaos, hitting the god dead on. Sora's keyblade throw was surprisingly enough to knock the god over, making him land on his back, but unfortunately, he did jump right back up again.
"Hope does not exist for you!" Chaos yelled as he began to fire what looked like mixes between fire and darkness at the keybladers at lightning speed. The two managed to dodge most of the attacks, with both of them only being hit once or twice, before Kairi got around the back of the god and tried to attack him from there. However, Chaos saw her coming and, once she was about to try and hit the god with her keyblade, spread his wings out and began to spin, fire sprouting from his wings as he did so. Kairi just barely managed to jump back, at the last second, to avoid his flaming wings, but the smoke left her coughing and trying to get her away from Chaos. Thankfully, once Chaos stopped spinning, it left the god wide open to an attack, which Sora performed by getting a good combo hit on the god of discord, and topping it off with a huge blast of light that made the god land on his back.
Once he saw the god fall down once again, Sora quickly ran over to Kairi just to make sure she was alright, which she reassured him right away. When the two heard Chaos yell out again in frustration, the two quickly stood up in their battle stances, tired but not ready to give up in this battle. Chaos stood up quickly again, however, not as fast as this time, which showed the keybladers that he was slowly but surely getting weakened. The god then looked at the two and, before they could even attempt to attack him, Chaos vanished in a puff of darkness, nowhere to be seen. Sora looked around desperately for the god, but before he could spot him, the teenager felt a large hand push him forward, which caused him to tumble and roll several feet away from where he once stood. Sora quickly got back up, but when he turned around, he saw the horrifying sight of Chaos using what looked like chains made out of darkness that wrapped around Kairi's body, slowly strangling her as she began to rise into the air.
"Kairi!" Sora yelled as he began to run over to where the two were standing, knowing that he had to get over there before the dark chains strangled Kairi to death. Once he began to run over to them however, Chaos raised his free hand, which caused an eruption of fire, much like before, to rise out of the ground, nearly hitting Sora if he had not moved out of the way in time. These eruptions of fire continued to burst out of the ground as Sora tried to make it over to where Kairi and Chaos were standing. Eventually, when Sora was about halfway to the two, a burst of the erupting fire came out of the ground, hitting him dead on and causing the teenager to fly up into the air. Sora heard Kairi yell out his name with pain in her voice and knew that he had to make the best out of this situation, and quickly summoned his keyblade rider, ignoring the heat that radiated off his armor that made it hard to breath. Chaos didn't even have time to move out of the way when Sora's keyblade rider rammed right into the god, hitting Chaos so hard that the god tumbled off the side of the platform they were on. Once that had happened, Sora flew back over to Kairi, unsummoned his rider, and fired a blast of light at the chains surrounding his beloved, which caused them vanish and made Kairi fall back down to the ground.
"Are you alright?" He asked her as he helped her stand, which she did not need assistance with, but he helped anyway.
"Am I alright? What about are you alright?" She asked her boyfriend, worried about the heat that she could practically feel the heat coming off his armor. The two did not have time to reply to one another however since Chaos once again appeared, using his wings to fly back up and to the platform, landing back in front of the Door to Darkness.
"I have about had it with you children," the god hissed in a dangerous tone, "You will not surpass me!" Once Chaos had finished saying these words, he raised his hands into the air, which began to glow a dangerous pitch black with several flames appearing from them. When he raised his hands higher, the two keyblade bearers could feel the air, darkness, and heat pick up around them. Before the two even knew it, they soon found themselves in the middle of what looked like a giant tornado made entirely of air, fire, and darkness. Acting fast, Sora quickly used his magic to summon a reflect shield around them, trying to keep it up even though the strength of the tornado made it hard to do so. Kairi, seeing his struggle, helped him by using her magic to make the reflect shield stronger, but keeping it up still proved difficult for them both.
"Darkness will consume you!" Chaos yelled as the darkness tornado grew even stronger with more flames, air, and darkness being so powerful that the teens could hear lightning echoing around them. The strength of the tornado soon proved too powerful for them, and their reflect shield vanished, making the teenagers venerable to the storm. The tornado proved to be so powerful that it lifted them both up into the air and they were forced to separate with both of them flying off in different directions. Being in the center of the tornado took its toll on Sora and Kairi, with both of them having a hard time breathing, but Chaos seemed to make it even worse for them. As they were flying through the center of the tornado, Chaos teleported to each of them several times, bringing his massive claws down on both of their armor to weaken it. When Chaos came over to Sora for a final time, the keyblader was not about to let him get away with doing that and used his keyblade to block Chaos' claws. Sora thankfully managed to successfully hit Chaos several times, topping the combo off with a blast of light.
Once that had happened, Chaos had seemed to stop the tornado, allowing for all three of them to fall back onto the ground, but it did not leave without leaving behind scars. Sora and Kairi were both heavily weakened from this attack, since being around fire and darkness did not take too lightly with them. When the two finally found the strength to stand back up again, Chaos was right there to greet them, taking his anger out on Sora and slashing at the keyblader's arm. This slash proved to be so strong that it cut through his armor, making all the armor that was on his arm fall off. Sora let out a brief yell as he took his free hand to grip onto his arm, which began to bleed and caused him to fall to the ground.
"Sora!" Kairi cried out as she looked to Chaos and began to fire blasts of light at him. The god flinched every time she fired an attack at him, proving that he was weakened as well nearly as much as they were. Chaos continued to go over to her though and eventually did, but Kairi tried to fight back by hitting him with her keyblade, but he still would not back down.
Eventually, Chaos wrapped his fingers around Kairi's neck, making her halt. "I most certainly can see why Xehanort gifted you to me: you have strength." He looked over to Sora, "I am afraid your boyfriend will not live to see another day once I finish him off, however, I will let you live."
Kairi let fear slip out of her breath as Chaos leaned in and whispered in her ear. "You shall serve me forever."
Sora did not know how he managed to hear what Chaos said, but the words angered him. Kairi had already been through enough, she did not deserve any of this. How he wished he could get up and stop Chaos, but he did not know if he had the strength to do so…
I may have not had a lot of light in me, but maybe it could help you.
The words echoed through Sora's mind and he suddenly found strength again. Sora knew who's voice it was, he knew who was trying to help him, and immediately thanked him silently. Sora then bolted back up on his feet, light surrounding every inch of his body as he ran over to Chaos, who did not even notice he was coming. Sora hit Chaos with his keyblade, which was also glowing with a bright light, so hard that it made the god let go of Kairi and sent him flying backwards. Sora then continued to fire blasts of light at the god, which hit him dead on every time. And when Chaos finally found the strength to stand again, he found himself face to face with the worlds' most powerful keyblade wielder.
"Like I said before, you don't know a thing about destiny," Sora said before he brought his keyblade up and hit Chaos again, sending the god flying into the Door to Darkness, which was left wide open. Chaos went tumbling back in the Realm to Darkness and couldn't find strength to stand, which was just what Sora was hoping for.
At this time, the light that was lent to Sora left his body, but he ran to the Door to Darkness and used all the strength he had left to try and close the door. He was shortly followed by Kairi, who helped also, and together, they began to close it.
"NO!" Chaos yelled from inside the Realm of Darkness, but the Door to Darkness was nearly closed. "YOU WILL NOT LEAVE ME IN HERE! I AM A GOD—"
Whatever Chaos had yelled after that was unknown, since Sora and Kairi had finally closed the Door to Darkness. Then, Sora brought his keyblade out and pointed it at the door, locking it with the laser of light that came out of his keyblade, and in a few moments, the Door to Darkness vanished for good. (End Chaos Last Battle)
As soon as the Door to Darkness was gone, Sora fell to his knees, relieved and exhausted from the battle that just took place. When Sora looked back up at where the door once was, the keyblader smiled to see Kairi standing in front of him, holding her hand out to him. He smiled wider as he gladly took it and he helped her stand, and the only thing they could do was look into each other's eyes and leaned in for a kiss…
But something stopped them. It was a faint noise, but it was so quiet that the two managed to hear a faint ticking that only grew louder. Sora and Kairi turned around to where the Door to Darkness once stood and saw a small object with numbers that continued to count down.

A bomb, Sora thought, out of everything Chaos could have left behind; he left us a bomb to end our lives.
Instantly, Sora took Kairi and embraced her in a hug, turning his back towards the bomb, knowing that he had to try and protect her even though he knew there was no chance they could both escape in time.

The heartless began to slowly disappear as all the others who had come to fight in this battle killed them off. The keybladers, who were all working together to dwindle down the number of heartless, just about got rid of every one of them in this area and were ready to move onto the next, but the sound of an explosion stopped them.
Riku, Xion, Aqua, Terra, Ventus, Lea, Roxas, Namine, and Mickey all turned their heads to where the sound of the explosion as occurring and were shocked by what they saw: at the very top of the Castle That Never Was was a huge explosion that engulfed the whole top part of the castle. The nine were frozen in their place as they looked at the explosion, shocked that it had actually happened.
"NO!" Ventus yelled, quickly followed by Roxas who yelled,
"Sora, Kairi!"
"That's where Xehanort was supposed to be," Aqua's hands shook at the thought of her friends, "They were there, Sora and Kairi are at that explosion!"
Riku, shocked the most out of all of them, took a step forward, not knowing what to do. At any moment, he expected Sora and Kairi to pop out from out of nowhere, alive and well, using their keyblade riders to escape the attack, but he knew that was not the case. Riku then fell to his knees, being so shocked that he couldn't even express himself.
Don't worry, a familiar voice echoed in his head, They returned home, and you should follow their lead.
These were the last words Riku ever heard Cosmos say to him, and he was honestly fine with that happening. Cosmos had guided Riku through this whole journey and these last words of advice were the small glimmer of hope that he needed.
Riku suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up to see Xion looking down at him. "Riku…" She said sadly, "I am so sorry…"
Immediately, Riku stood up, gripping onto her shoulders before letting go. "No," he whispered, "They're not gone."
"Riku, they were in that explosion…" Namine said.
"I know they were, but don't you feel it?" He asked them.
"Feel what?" Terra asked.
"That feeling of light returning," Riku asked, "Xehanort destroyed my home world, but for some reason I can feel my home's light returning. Sora and Kairi had to have defeated Xehanort, so that means Destiny Islands is restored."
The rest of the group looked around before they looked back at Riku confused. "Alright, I'll bite, maybe Destiny Islands is restored, what does that have to do with Sora and Kairi?" Lea asked him.
Riku didn't say anything, which confused the group even more. "Riku?" Xion tried to get his attention.
Riku then looked into Xion's eyes and finally spoke, "Get everyone that came here together and on the gummi ships," he commanded, "We're going to Destiny Islands, they are going home."
Wow, a lot happened in this chapter. Not only was it really long, but just a lot of stuff happened in general...
So for all of you that missed it in the last chapter, when Xehanort was defeated, all the worlds that he destroyed in his return were restored, which means Destiny Islands is supposed to return. In case you missed the line:
"... The worlds I destroyed in my return, they will come back..."
Xehanort admitted this in the last chapter in case you missed it.
So the next chapter is the actual last chapter that is followed by an epilogue, so the hype is officially real! I have about half of both of those chapters done, so they should be up in a short amount of time!
OMG GUYS NICK FURY CAMEOED ON AGENTS OF SHIELD AND I LITERALLY FLIPED OUT IT WAS AWESOME XXXXXXDDDDDD
So please R&R for the final boss and look out for the next chapter!
