WARNING: Days 4, 6 and 7 contain some violence.
CHAPTER 14
Day 1:
As I regain consciousness I realise I'm lying on something hard and cold. My body aches all over and I feel the back of my head throbbing with extreme pain.
I groan and put my hand on the place where Victoria smacked me last night and feel a huge bump.
When I open my eyes I realise I'm in a concrete room.
The room is almost completely empty except for a small desk filled with scattered papers and pens. There is a small lamp emitting faint light placed onto it.
The walls are completely bare because there are no windows. There is a metal door on one wall but there is no knob, at least not on this side. The smaller door next to those is wooden and lead into a tiny room with only a toilet placed in it.
Victoria is luckily nowhere in sight so I get up from my spot on the floor and take a look at the papers.
Some of them only have numbers written, some are filled with some sort of text but it's written in either Cyrillic script or Italian so I don't understand a word of it.
I sigh and look around the room wondering what time it is. There is no way of me knowing if it's day or night and I start thinking about Elena. I'm pretty sure either Stefan or Damon got her home safely and that thought puts my mind on ease at least a little.
I walk over to the corner I slept in and sit down waiting for Victoria to show up.
Day 3:
For the first time since I got here I hear a noise breaking the silence that drove me crazy these past few hours or days, I don't really know how long.
I realise it's the door so I get up and stand as far away from them as I can I this small room.
She enters the room and plops on the chair behind the desk with a smile on her face.
"Your friends are idiots." Victoria snorts and rolls her eyes. "I give them two full days to find you before I get on with my plan and they don't even look in the right direction." She says and smirks at my grim expression. "I can give Damon credit for figuring out a few of my traps but I have spent years perfecting my gift." She shrugs and flips through some papers while I stand still by the wall.
"So what now?" I ask and start coughing almost immediately. My mouth is completely dry and the thirst makes it hard for me to stay awake for very long. "You plan on starving me to death?"
Victoria snorts and starts going through the huge purse she brought with her. She pulls out a bottle of water and tosses it right at me but my reflexes have gotten slower due to exhaustion and it just bounces off of my stomach.
It does hurt but my thirst overcomes the pain and I quickly crouch down and open the bottle.
The water is cold as it slides down my throat and when I down almost half of it in one chug I quickly stop drinking and decide to save it just in case Victoria decides to do something like this again.
Next she tosses a small sandwich into my lap and I quickly eat it while she watches in amusement.
"Oh, I forgot something!" She exclaims, leaves the room and locks the door behind her.
I move to the corner where I first woke up and lie down waiting for her to come back until exhaustion overcomes me.
Day 4:
I drank all my water.
I know I shouldn't have but it just happened. I have slept three times since Victoria walked out of the door but I'm not sure how much time passed.
My lips are chapped and I keep using the lip balm that was in my pocket but it doesn't help much because I'm too dehydrated.
After some time I hear the door opening and Victoria enters with a huge grin on her face which makes me a little scared but I try not to show it.
"Look!" She says excitedly and pulls a camera out of her purse. "Isn't this brilliant? I can continue what James started!"
I think my jaw dropped to the floor.
She's crazy.
I really need to do something...
"And where do you plan on sending that, if I may ask?"
She giggles and I seriously can't believe that such a nice sound can belong to a person as vile and deranged as Victoria.
"You are so stupid!" Her giggle turns into an angry sneer. "Do you really think I didn't think this through?" She says and makes the tsk sound a couple of times.
She presses a few buttons on the camera and when the familiar beep is heard, she starts moving towards me.
My eyes widen in fear while she starts laughing maniacally.
Now that's the kind of laugh that fits her perfectly.
I try to back up from her but the wall behind me puts a stop to my actions.
"Have you not learned that running is futile?" She shakes her head.
"Where is Damon?" I ask her instead.
"Closer." Victoria shrugs. "But nowhere close enough."
"What are you going to do?" My voice shakes a little.
"Whatever I want to." She smiles and grabs my neck with one of her hands.
Her hard fingers wrap themselves around my throat and cut off my air supply. My hands claw against her arms fruitlessly and I hear my throaty attempts to catch a breath and after a couple of seconds, the sounds become muffled and my eyelids start fluttering.
I guess she takes that as a cue to stop if she doesn't want to kill me.
"You even got to Riley's head!" She screams at me and I feel a proud smile spreading on my face. Her face contorts into an angry expression and she tosses me on the other side of the room like I weigh nothing.
My head hits the hard wall and a scream escapes me from the shock.
"Nice visuals!" She compliments happily while I groan in pain.
"Can you just get this the fuck over with?" I scream at her. "You fucking deranged bitch!"
Her face turns from happy to angry in a second and she slaps me so hard I literally glide to the other side of the room.
My skin prickles with pain but luckily there is no blood seeping from my cheek.
I try to locate Victoria but my vision is too blurry and I just end up closing my eyes before my head starts throbbing even more.
"Don't sleep!" She grabs my chin and roughly shakes my head a few times but I don't have the strength to keep my eyes opened.
Day 6:
"Finally!" Victoria exclaims as soon as I open my eyes, the camera still placed in her hands. "You are so weak." She says with disgust lacing her voice.
"How long was I out?" I ask groggily.
"Too long." She whines and stands up, taking the camera with her. "I don't have time for playing games anymore."
I realise this is it. This is the point of no return. This is the day I die.
Victoria takes a few confident steps towards me and yanks my body from the ground with one hand.
Her red vengeful eyes zero on the scar on my left wrist and she growls from deep within her chest.
"Do you have any idea how much I hate you?" She asks and grabs my shaky wrist. "Do you have any idea how much I hate that the only thing left of James is placed on your fucking body?!" Victoria screeches and slams me hard on the wall.
I try to wriggle out but her hand holds me in place effortlessly.
Her eyes look at my wrist longingly. "I have waited so long for this." She says quietly, places me on my feet but still holds me in place and grabs my left hand more firmly.
One part of my brain screams at me to beg for my freedom but I can't make myself to do it. I'm stronger than the little girl I was; the one who would cry and beg unashamedly.
That girl has been gone for a while now and the one who replaced her is ready for whatever life has to throw at her- even death.
Victoria brings her lips so close to my skin that I feel the cold air emitting from them.
Slowly, she opens her mouth to reveal the shiny, razor sharp teeth and sinks them into the exact place where James did.
As soon as they pierce my skin I feel the burn from her venom and she closes her eyes with the look of pure content on her face.
After a few seconds she lets go of me and lets me fall to the ground while the fire spreads through my hand.
I sink to my knees and instinctively grab the place she bit while simultaneously try not to look at the blood or scream.
The fire burns through my body at a very high speed and I soon feel myself struggling to breathe. I take a chance and look at the wound and see large veins popping from around the scar and realise that hasn't happened when James bit me but what really holds my attentions is that they're black.
I finally let go and scream from both pain and horror.
The fire starts spreading through my torso and with all the screaming I struggle so badly to inhale air.
My lungs burn and soon I feel the venom entering the veins in my legs and I toss and turn, claw with my fingernails over the concrete floor so that I can turn around.
I see Victoria pointing the camera towards her face and saying something with a huge smile over her face.
The blood is pumping so loudly in my ears that I can't hear what she's saying but my attention soon switches back to the flames inside my body.
I feel like I'm burning from the inside out and I'm so close to start begging for death but I bite my tongue to keep the words in. I'm not giving her the pleasure.
Day 7:
I don't know how this is possible but the flames keep getting hotter and hotter with each second that passes.
My throat is burning and my fingers are clawing at it at their own violation.
The veins that were first placed only around the scar have spread all over my body. Well, at least the parts that I can see.
Victoria hasn't left the room. Judging by the wide smile on her face, I figure she decided to enjoy this while it lasts.
The pain still isn't decreasing.
I am still a huge mess. Legs kicking, hands clawing at anything they can reach and ears hearing the screams coming from deep within me. The sounds are scaring me even though I don't consciously make them.
After I don't even know how long, there is finally a change.
And no, unfortunately, not in my body.
Victoria moves towards me, smile still in place.
She crouches down and lifts my body from the floor.
"I feel kind of bad for doing this." She says. "James thought you were special, you know?"
I try to speak up and ask her about it but the pain makes it impossible for me to form words.
"That's why he bit you, he wanted you to live." She explains. "But I don't."
She places my convulsive body on the ground and wraps her hands around my head.
"He would be so mad at me for doing this." She chuckles and grips me a little tighter.
My eyes close. I refuse to let her see the life disappearing from my eyes. I refuse to look into her eyes as life leaves mine.
My memories take me back to when Laurent cornered me in the meadow. I remember how the only thing I could think about was Edward. I remember how my last words were the utterance of love for him.
But not now.
Now, I block him out of my mind and focus on the people who probably won't even know what happened to me.
I focus on Damon, who is probably still looking for me.
I'm dying a happy death. Even though I didn't do everything I wanted, I lived.
A smile spreads over my face.
Cold fingers tighten around my neck.
Snap.
A/N
Damon didn't find her on time, sorry!
I don't know when the next update is gonna be. I'm sorry. Two days ago, I broke up with a boyfriend of 3 years because he had to move to another country for school and I feel like crap.
Please forgive me in advance if the next update comes a long time from now because I just can't focus on anything except crying and eating currently. PMS and breakups are not a good combination. The only reason I updated now is because I had this almost completely written. So yeah, I'll start writing when I feel a little more like myself again.
