chapter 6:
After his interaction in the white house hallway Fitz was in no mood to deal with the crowd of over 100 people out on the white house lawn. He had always figured there
was a good chance when he got out of the white that he would be able to win Olivia back and she would finally be his, as complicated as the whole situation would end up
being. She was the love of his life and living a life time without her was not an option, no matter what it would take to get her back. He reached the lawn and scowled as he
looked out at all the people he spotted Cyrus and quickly walked over to him. He no sooner reached him when he saw Tripp running toward him.
"Uncle Fitz, you made it!" The young boy exclaimed as Fitz scooped him off the ground into his arms.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world buddy. You only turn 6 once kiddo and how could I give up feeding you sugar on you birthday " He told boy both smiling at one another as
he pulled out a snickers candy bar out of his front pocket handing it to Tripp.
"Thanks, Uncle Fitz" Tripp replied eagerly taking the candy bar from his uncle.
Cyrus looked at the two standing in front of him as they interacted. It made him extremely uncomfortable to see the two of them so close. "You better hide that or eat it
quick before your pop sees you what that buddy. You know how he get when you consume too much sugar and you've already had a ton. Remember you still have save some
room for the cake, bud." Cyrus said to his son
"Awe but dad if I save it for latter Leah will somehow end up eating the whole thing or pop will make me share with her." Tripp said looking at his dad still in his uncle's
arms.
"Oh, Come on Cy it's the kids birthday party, it's his job to eat a ton of sugar and then stay up all night bouncing off the walls." Fits said defending Tripp teasingly
"You have a point , but you better devour that thing before James sees it buddy" Cyrus replied giving into his son very well known sweet tooth epically for his favorite
candy, snickers.
" Thanks, Dad." Tripp replied with a gleam in his eyes as he devoured the candy bar.
"So Tripp, how's your party going so far you having fun?" Fits asked he as he sat him back on the ground.
"Yeah, it's not bad although I don't really care much for the all these people it a little bit uncomfortable to have all those paying attention to me I'd rather be left alone
instead of pulled into a ton of hugs and those old ladies keep kissing me on cheek" Tripp said to them wiping his cheek off with his hand.
Both Cyrus and Fitz laughed at the boy's reaction to his statement. Fits grabbed the boysshoulder scuffing his hair. "Not a crowd people I see kid, you must get that from
your dad over here. You know he's not much for crowds or idle mingling either. Well to be honest I myself don't care much for it either Tripp. Maybe its just a man thing." Fitz
told the two laughing.
Tripp looked at him with an ever knowing smile. "I doubt that maybe some men are loners, but pop over there is such always dragging me to functions dad call him a
social diva maybe he should be the one in politics" Tripp told the men.
"Come on now don't go repeating that to people and let that get back to James. He'll never let that go if it gets back to him, he'll probably put me on trial for that one "
Cyrus told the boy teasingly laughing.
"It's okay dad ill defend you." Tripp said looking up at his dad compassionately.
" I know you would buddy and you'd do a pretty darn good job a too." Cyrus told his son
" Do we have a future lawyer on our hands?" Fitz asked the boy.
"Yes sir, I am going to be a lawyer someday when I grow up, just like my dad. He's the best anyone could ever want to learn from." Tripp told him.
Fitz looked in awe as Tripp stood so proudly beside Cyrus beaming and saw Cyrus equally proud of his son. Fitz had watch over the past five years as Cyrus had become a
father and how close he and Tripp had become. Cyrus had really surprised him when he all of a sudden showed up at the white house one day with James and baby Tripp. He
knew that James was pushing Cy into having a baby because Mellie had also been in Fitz's ear about trying to convince Cy into starting a family. Mellie was always on James's
side helping him with his goals, James being her brother in all. Mellie had always been protective of her little brother. Well whatever tactic James and Mellie used had finally
worked because now he had not only the one child but a second one as well. Fitz wasn't as surprised at Leah adoption because he had seen first hand just how jealous James
could be by Tripp and Cyrus's connection. Cyrus was a great father to Tripp, but that couldn't be that hard because Tripp was a great kid himself. Fits himself was a bit
jealous at their connection since he wasn't able to experience that close bod with his own two children Karan and Gerry since Mellie had sent them off to boarding school
since they both were old enough and his political career hindered him from having a lot of time to bod with the two anyway. Tripp actually reminded him a lot of Gerry he was
a lot like him in some was he even kind of, looked like him Fitz thought by some coincidence. That happened sometimes though an adopted kid looking kid of like their family
and Tripp was defiantly like his Cousin Gerry. Leah on the other hand looked and acted like James those two were a match made in haven she was the perfect fit for James.
Cyrus had changed a lot since becoming a parent, he was still that no nonsense bull dog that would do anything in his power to protect Fitz presidency, but when he was with
his son he was different.
Mellie stood idly by the refreshment table talking to a senator wife as she spotted Cyrus and Fits and her nephew over on the other side of the lawn. As Mellie watched the
three she thought to herself how of how her nephew looked with his father and she dint mean Cyrus she meant Fitz, Tripp's biological father. It sickened her to see the Fitz
interact like that with a boy he didn't even know was his when he wouldn't do that for her daughter. She laughed to herself as she thought about how Fitz would react if he
knew that the boy that he stoop laughing with was his own flesh and blood, his son with Olivia pope. Mellie had known about Tripp since the day he was born she was
prepared to do whatever it took to make sure that that child didn't ruin Fitz presidency. She was relieved when Olivia gave the boy up for adoption and it appeared that she
wouldn't have to do anything to make sure that scandal didn't come out over his existence. She was completely dumbfounded when Cyrus brought the boy home. She didn't
get that who the boy was at first but the first time she went to James's house to pick up Natasha and was forced to hold the boy she imminently knew who he was it was in
his eyes they belonged to Fitz. She didn't know what the hell Cyrus was doing but decided that she would not say anything and let things stay the way they were. No one
knew she knew and it would stay that way as long as the secret stayed hidden, she wouldn't let it come out no matter the cost.
A/N Sorry it took so long. Ill try to do as much as a can as soon as I can. please review!
