Evergreen looked down sadly at the picture in her hands. Seeing her glasses start to fog up, Evergreen harshly slammed the picture frame down and used her palm to wipe away the loose tears that trailed from her eyes. With a half sob and grunt, the brunette stormed out of her room and past the startled Elfman, who came to visit the medusa like mage.
"Hey, Ever, I need to talk to you about something…"
"I don't have time for all your 'Man this and Man that'" Evergreen snapped as she stormed out of the girls' dorm.
"What's wrong with her? She acted very unmanly today," the rather large mage commented to his passing sister.
"I'm sure she's just having a bad day, Elfman. You must remember though, Evergreen isn't a man," Mirajane said lightly, her bright smile almost lighting up the room.
"I guess you're right, Sis."
"If it'll make you feel better, you can always talk to the rest of the Thunder God Tribe. They would know the most about Evergreen. Stuff even I don't know about." Elfman thanked his sister and quickly left the dormitory, feeling suddenly anxious.
"We ain't tellin' ya anything. Just cause you're Ever's new boy toy doesn't mean we gotta tell ya' all her dirty little secrets like how she slept with a baby blanket til she was twelve," Bixlow's eyes widened slightly behind his gated mask before covering it with a mock smile, "Oops, did I say that? Guess you get a freebee," Bixlow finished with a shrug, internally sweating at the thought of Evergreen ever finding out he told a personal secret. The four dolls chimed Bixlow's words, their childlike drone almost making Elfman's head pulse. Freed rolled his eyes at his teammate's less than elegant words.
"What he means, Elfman, is why not ask Ever yourself? Everyone knows how Ever can get if you talk about her behind her back. It's best to ask from the primary source rather than a secondary source like us." Freed looked at Elfman's expression expectantly, knowing his advice was rather logical and the best course of action.
The three jumped at the slam of a mug, a low chuckle catching their attention.
"Well why don't we give him a little help," Laxus said bemusedly, his posture relaxed and leaned up against the bar as his sharp gray eyes looked at the slightly paled takeover mage expectantly.
"B-but Laxus," Freed questioned, not use to hearing the yellow haired mage so open to help.
"Well we also know how Ever can get when you want to know something," Laxus finished with a shrug, "Now, what do you want to know?"
"W-Well." Elfman mentally punched himself at his wavering voice, feeling that the waver in his voice was very unmanly at the moment. "Ever was really upset when she left her room today and I want to know if that's normal, I even saw some tears in her eyes when she brushed past me," the white haired mage rushed out, his body trembling slightly as sweat started to build up in his clenched hand. Knowing this wasn't good for the object in his hand, Elfman inconspicuously slipped the object into his front pants pocket.
Laxus' face fell slightly at the mention of Evergreen's slight tears, but pulled it back together quickly.
"It's probably nothing, you shouldn't worry yourself over it, you know women and their moods during a certain time."
"Ever's time was last week, remember, she almost challenged Natsu cause he was chewing loud," Elfman said blankly before looking at the three suspiciously. "You're not telling me something and that's very unmanly if Ever is upset."
Laxus released a sigh before drowning down the contents of his mug in one gulp.
"Alright, I'll tell ya', gotta let the husband know something after-all." Elfman paled suddenly at Laxus' comment before looking around to see if anyone else heard.
"Maybe we should talk somewhere else, somewhere more private," Elfman whispered in a tense tone.
"Whatever you say, lover boy," Bixlow laughed loudly as his floating puppets happily chirped lover boy over and over.
Evergreen teared as a little girl ran through a field of grass with an elderly man laughing as he caught up with the girl.
"Papa papa, look what I can do!" the girl cheered before looking straight into her dad's brown eyes. With a quick flash, her father turned to stone for a quick second before returning to his normal state.
"Katherine, what a wonderful form of magic! Such control," the father beamed as he twirled the girl in a happy smile. Evergreen couldn't take it anymore as she broke out into one loud sob and fell to the floor, catching the two's attention.
"E-Evergreen?" the father breathed in awe.
"Papa? Who's she? She looks almost like mommy," the child exclaimed, only making Evergreen sob even more.
"That's because she's…"
"NO!" Evergreen shouted. "Don't tell her!" With quick reflexes, Evergreen pushed herself up and ran as fast as she could to get away from that field, promising herself never to go back and spy ever again.
Using her fairy magic, Evergreen let her wings spring forth and speedily flew back to the guild in into an unsuspecting Elfman's arms.
"Wha- Ever! Are you alright?! Ever, why are you crying!" Elfman was starting to panic as his girlfriend continued to sob and sob, something the fairy mage never really did around the blue eyed man.
"I-I'll be fine," Evergreen hiccuped before pushing herself away in order to regain her composure. Before the brunette could pull herself completely away, Elfman quickly grabbed for Evergreen's pale hand, surprisingly holding it gently and carefully in his rather large and callused hand.
"Ever, I promise to never make you cry and try my hardest to make you happy. I'll cook your meals when you want me to and never leave your side. If you'll have me, could you be my wife and family,"Elfman confessed shakily, his normally tan face glowing a bright red as he was surrounded by complete silence. Evergreen stayed silent, her face downcast as the silence started to make Elfman nervous. Elfman opened his mouth to try and brush the proposal off, hoping to save himself this embarrassment.
"Promise?" Evergreen murmured shakily, a bit surprised by the effects of Elfman's proposal.
"I promise."
Oh wow, sorry I ended it so abruptly, just couldn't think of anything. Anyways, the super overdue prompt from Elfever week a while back. I don't know where I got the idea from, maybe from another fic, but I always thought of Ever getting sort of kicked out of her home because she couldn't control her eye magic. Like she didn't always wear glasses and her magic was more sporadic before, hence her hanging round her mini group. Anyways, that was what I was going for. Hope you liked. Leave me a thought before you go and I own nothing, Fairy Tail belongs to Hiro Mashima.
