"So, how was your trip over to America? I never did ask you when you came back from over there in August..." Anthony asked as he and Diaspro walked side by side through a park.

"It went rather well. Queen Nebula has no problem with me being here as long as I don't plot against Tir Nan Og. Believe me when I say that I have no intention of jeopardizing that. I've had enough experience of getting banished from places to last me several lifetimes..." Diaspro shuddered at the thought.

"Well then, what do you plan to do now? Are you going to go running off to join them?" Anthony looked a bit sad.

"I don't plan on doing that. I might travel a bit but I don't plan on staying away from Britain for too long..." She smiled.

Anthony brightened. "That's good to hear..."

"It certainly is better than studying. I like school most of the time, but there is only so much of it that you can take, especially when you're from a completely different planet that teaches different material in an entirely different way..."

"I can imagine..." Anthony chuckled as they reached an exit of the park.

"Well, I'd best get going. Caroline wants to meet me for lunch and I'm not quite ready to introduce you to her yet..."

"I understand. Perhaps some other time then?" Diaspro asked.

"I hope so. See you later!" he kissed her lightly and waved as he walked off briskly.

Diaspro smiled goofily for a moment before shaking it off.

"I like him, but I mustn't fall for him too fast. Best to keep a straight head on when it comes to these things..." She thought. "Can't let emotions get the best of you. Remember what happened the last time..."

She was almost back to her flat when she sensed it.

Fairy Magic.

Immediately going on high alert, Diaspro looked around her, trying to spot the unknown fairy.

"Of course it wouldn't just be that easy, now would it?" She thought, face-palming.

She transformed and cast an invisibility spell on herself.

Flying towards the direction from which she felt the magic, she looked at every single person she saw, but she could see no magical aura coming from any of them.

She flew until she came to a nearby park, where she noticed a lone, young teenage girl with shoulder-length brown hair playing with her mobile phone while swinging lightly on the swing-set.

The magic from that girl radiated strongly.

"It's her!" Diaspro thought excitedly.

She flew closer, still concealed.

"Well, what do you know? It's Katie!" Diaspro smiled. "I can't think of a more deserving girl to develop fairy magic..."

The girl in question was Katie James, a thirteen year old girl who lived with her mum, dad and younger brother in the same building that Diaspro did. Soft-spoken, yet highly intelligent, Katie occasionally stopped for a chat with her when they met. Diaspro had also met Mr. and Mrs. James and they had proven very receptive to the idea of fairy magic. They had even joked about Katie having magic of her own, what with her gift with technology...

Diaspro landed some way off in the middle of some trees and was just about to detransform so as not to startle Katie when she approached, when she heard the girl scream.

Diaspro flew back in Katie's direction when she saw one of the Apprentices with Katie in a binding spell.

"This was almost too easy..." Gunner chuckled.

"Let me go, you bloody creep! Someone, HELP ME!" Katie screamed squirming and trying to escape from the binding spell in vain.

"Help is coming, Katie!" Diaspro's energy beam seemed to appear out of nowhere to the terrified teenager as it knocked Gunner away from her and broke that strange binding spell on her.

"Diaspro, you're a fairy?" Katie asked in shock, blue eyes open wide.

"Yes I am and you are too, Katie!" Diaspro flew in front of her and took a protective stance, hands aglow with magical energy and ready to cast spells.

"I guessed that when this Apprentice bloke tried to get me to go with him, but I don't quite want to believe it!" Katie quivered in fear.

"Well, well, well. What do you know? Another fairy shows up to save the day and judging by the looks of her and the power of the blast, I'm guessing she's no basic level fairy. All the better. More power for the Apprentices when your wings are added to our collection!" Gunner sneered as he sent a curse their way.

Diaspro managed to block it with a quick shield.

"Oh God, oh God, oh God..." Katie chanted nervously.

The older fairy brought up her hand sharply and several energy blasts went towards Gunner, which he blocked.

"You may have caught me by surprise at first, but you'll find that I'm not that easily defeated!"

"Neither am I. I'm certainly not letting you take Katie's powers before she's even had the chance to use them!" Diaspro dropped the shield and Katie ran for cover.

She watched in fear as Diaspro fought to defeat her.

"Wow. She's so brave fighting that creep by herself..." Katie thought. "I only wish I could be that brave myself..."

"Ruby Rain!" Diaspro cried, sending hundreds of magical rubies towards Gunner from the sky.

"Wow..." Katie said in awe.

Gunner cursed as he took in the amount of scratches all over his body that Diaspro's last spell had given him.

"Why, you..." He growled, about to cast another spell.

"NO!" Katie yelled, holding her hands out in front of her.

A powerful, dark green beam came from her hands and was so powerful that it blasted Gunner through several trees.

"Wow. That was some pretty powerful magic there, Katie!" Diaspro flew over to her.

"Did I really just do that?" Katie looked at her hands in awe.

"Yes, yes, you just did. You're going to be a really strong fairy one day. I can tell." Diaspro turned her attention back to Gunner, who was emerging from the clump of destroyed trees.

"Have you had enough of a beating yet?" Diaspro put her hands on her hips and smirked.

"Or do we need to do that again?" Katie added, mimicking Diaspro's stance.

"We'll be back for you both!" Gunner growled as he disappeared.

"And we'll be waiting to kick your arse again!" Katie said, looking a bit surprised at herself.

Diaspro scoffed. "They always say that..." She shrugged as she detransformed.

They walked over to the swing-set where miraculously, Katie's mobile phone still lay on the ground, in one piece and working perfectly.

"So... I'm a... a fairy, huh?" Katie asked.

"Yes, you are."

"I'm scared... I can't do any of that cool fighting magic like you just did!"

"That's fine. A normal reaction to have. With the right training, you'll make a strong, wonderful fairy. You're too young to go to the IOM or Alfea though and they wouldn't have taken you until you had completed the mandatory education of your country..."

"IOM? Alfea?" Katie asked, looking puzzled.

"Fairy schools. The IOM is in the United States and Alfea is the Realm of Magix. I'll explain after we get you home..." Diaspro stood up and led the way back to their building.

"So, our Katie is a fairy, huh? That's so cool!" Katie's younger brother Luke said excitedly.

"It didn't seem that cool at all when Gunner had me in his grasp... If Diaspro hadn't shown up when she had, mum and dad would be filing a missing person's report on me or something!" Katie exclaimed.

"What are our options now? You said that she's too young to go to these fairy schools, but she should learn some magical self defense at least!" Mrs. James insisted.

"I agree. How else are we going to help keep our Katie keep herself safe from these Apprentice characters?" Mr. James asked, worried.

"I'm not much of a teacher, but I can do my best to help you with your magic, Katie. The most important things right now are to determine your power source- though I have a good feeling on what that is already- and unlocking your very first fairy transformation- the Winx level..." Diaspro said.

"Wow. Imagine that I'll have wings of my own and get to fly..." Katie said dreamily.

"Yes, you will. I have a feeling based on what your parents said that your powers might indeed deal with technology. Apparently a lot of these new fairies' powers are manifesting in the form of things they're good at..." Diaspro explained.

"How does Katie get to know for sure?" Luke asked.

Diaspro paused to think. "Katie, please focus on your mobile phone. Try to get it to do something- without touching it."

"I can try, but I don't think it'll work. I mean, I just figured out that I had any magic at all..." Katie looked unsure.

"You have to believe in yourself, Katie! Get some confidence in yourself!" Diaspro commanded.

Katie sighed and closed her eyes, focusing her thoughts on the phone.

It floated into the air and dialled a number.

Seconds later, the landline rang, startling her family.

Mrs. James got up to check the caller ID.

"It's Katie's number that came up! Our Katie!" Mrs. James exclaimed excitedly.

"Looks like you're a Technology fairy after all, Katie! Congratulations!" Diaspro smiled.

"I guess it's really true, isn't it?" Katie asked softly.

"It is. I really must get going though. I'm only three floors down and you have my numbers, so... I guess I shall be going now, won't I?" Diaspro stood up.

"Thanks again, Diaspro!" Katie beamed.

"No problem." Diaspro smiled and waved back. She was sure that Katie would become a great fairy one day and she was going to make sure that she was a part of that.

That evening, at Lazeez, Zinah, who was alone, was just locking up and about to leave the restaurant when she heard a noise behind her.

When she turned around, she found herself staring down the barrel of a gun.

"One wrong move and you're done, Zinah." A man wearing dark shades said gruffly, with an accent to his English that suggested that he came from her ancestral country- Libya.

"I won't move an inch!" Zinah exclaimed, already scared out of her mind. As loud, goofy and talkative as she could be, she wasn't about to mess around with someone who had a gun pointed right at her...

"Good. Move it then..." The man nudged her towards the kitchen.

Zinah's legs felt like lead as she walked.

"And I picked tonight of all nights not to wear the magic bracelet that Diaspro gave me!" Zinah thought.

Then a more worrying thought occurred to her.

"Helen and Diaspro were supposed to meet me here! Oh no! They'll get caught up in this- whatever it is!" She thought, shivering. "And my black belt in karate won't do much against a shower of bullets!"

A scream and sounds of a scuffle made her heart sink.

Seconds later, the door opened and two more men came in with Helen between them, tossing her to the floor roughly, next to Zinah.

"What the bloody hell is going on here, Zinah Omrani?" Helen asked in her shock.

"How the bloody hell am I supposed to know what the bloody hell is going on?" Zinah yelped as she found a gun trained on her once again.

"No talking, you two! Now are we going to have any more guests to this party tonight, Zinah?" The first man snarled.

"Possibly..." Zinah said meekly.

"You three! Keep an eye out for any more guests! You! Go get the van!" He told the four other men in his company.

"Kasim Omrani will pay for his betrayal. Did he really believe that I would not have found him or his precious family just because he left Libya? Did he think that thirty years apart would make me forget?" The man's laughter was completely devoid of any joy.

Helen and Zinah looked at one another, looking completely terrified.

Diaspro was on her way to Lazeez when she had a bad feeling- danger sense.

She noticed some odd activity around the restaurant as she walked onto the road it was located on.

There were men going in and out of it even though the restaurant was closed for the night.

Also, a large truck normally of the type used for deliveries was parked outside.

Deliveries were never done at this time of night.

Cautious and suspicious, she cast an invisibility spell on herself and ran closer.

She felt her blood run cold as she saw a bound, gagged and unconscious Zinah and Helen carried to the truck and tossed roughly inside.

"I have to save them from these creeps, but how?" Diaspro thought. "Magic or no magic, I am still only one person against five heavily armed men. But if I don't, I may never see them again, alive or dead!"

She cast a quick tracker spell on the truck and ducked behind an alleyway to transform, recasting her invisibility spell as she did so.

After the truck disappeared, she flew into the restaurant and saw that despite the men having weapons, Zinah and Helen had apparently put up a struggle, judging by the state of the restaurant...

It strengthened her resolve.

"I may have already had one fight today, but I'm ready for another one!" She exclaimed.

Using a payphone to report that she had seen what looked like an abduction at the restaurant to the police with her most convincing panicked voice, she hung up before the operator could question her further.

Taking to the skies, she focused on her magic, trying to locate the truck.

In her mind's eye, she saw that the truck was still within Central London.

Focusing even stronger, she saw that two men including the driver were in the front, while the other three men were in the back of the truck keeping an eye on a still unconscious Zinah and Helen.

Her eyes glinted.

"Well, it's time to play catch up with that truck. Don't worry, girls. Help is on the way!"

Diaspro turned in the direction that she saw the truck heading and flew as quickly as she could.
