Zinah woke up, feeling groggy.
She groaned and tried to sit up, but found that it felt really uncomfortable to do so.
The she realized that she was bound and gagged and everything came back to her at once.
Her yelp was muffled by her gag.
"Ah, Zinah! You are awake! Too bad I cannot say the same for your friend..." The man who appeared the ringleader of her kidnappers said to her in Arabic, nodding towards Helen, who was right under a high window, the moonlight shining down on her.
Zinah simply glared at him.
"Oh, but I forget that you cannot speak with me in your current state..." He moved forward and cut off her gag with a pocketknife.
"What do you want with me?" She asked in Arabic.
The man looked surprised.
"Ah, but you speak Arabic? I would not have expected Kasim to teach you the mother tongue of your ancestral country while you live in England..."
"My mum and dad taught all of us the language. They miss Libya, but with creeps like you there, I can understand why they never went back..." Zinah growled.
"You're a spitfire one, aren't you? No matter. It's not you that I really want, but your father. And with his precious little daughter as leverage, he'll do whatever I tell him to..." The man sneered.
"Anyway, enjoy your stay here, Miss Libyan-British. I can assure you, it won't be very long..." The man chuckled as left, shutting and locking the door behind him.
Diaspro landed on the roof of the building.
It was a warehouse type building just outside city limits in an area where not many people or vehicles seemed to pass.
Perfect place to hide a few abduction victims.
She flew around the outside of the building, trying to scope it out.
The building had several different sections within it and by casting a spell, she detected seven living beings inside.
Consistent with what she had seen at the restaurant...
Flying back up towards a window, she peered in carefully.
Helen was still bound and gagged, lying sill beneath the window while Zinah was further away, also still bound, but unlike Helen, was sitting up and ungagged.
Their eyes met and Zinah's eyes went wide.
"Am I seeing things or is it really her?" Zinah thought.
Diaspro put a finger to her lips as she opened the window which was just big enough for she and her wings to fly through.
"Ssh! It's me! You're not seeing things. What happened?" Diaspro whispered.
"The blokes who took us... seem to have some sort of grudge against my dad!" Zinah whispered as she explained what she could.
Diaspro blanched when she heard what the ringleader's last words to Zinah were.
"It doesn't sound like he's planning on keeping you alive!" She whisper-exclaimed.
"I know, so you have to get us out of here, please!" Zinah pleaded.
"From the sounds of it, even if I do that, he'll still come after your family again and again until he is caught or killed! And even though I'm a fairy, I'm not immune to bullets!" Diaspro whispered back.
They both were startled as they heard heavy footsteps outside.
Diaspro glowed briefly for a moment and so did Zinah and Helen.
"Status spells. Just so I can know how you both are. I'll be back with help, I promise." Diaspro flew back out the window and closed it quietly before some of the men, clutching very large guns entered the room.
"I really hope I didn't just make a big mistake..." She thought as she flew away.
"Mr. Omrani, what can you tell us? Who would want to harm you or your family?" The policeman asked as Mr. Omrani held Dr. (Mrs.) Omrani close in their living room.
"We left all our troubles behind in Libya over thirty years ago! I don't know how they could have found me here. Found us..." He answered, his voice wavering slightly.
"Excuse me, D.S. Hollingsworth, you'll want to see the visitor who's just arrived..." A younger man poked his head in.
"What is so important that a visitor has to interrupt me, Bramble?" Hollingsworth asked, annoyed as he excused himself from the Omranis.
"She says her name is Diaspro Winsdor, she's a friend of Miss Omrani and Miss Howell and that she knows where they are..." D.S. Bramble said.
D.S. Hollingsworth blinked.
"I'll be right back..." he said, glancing at the blonde who stood with her arms folded in the doorway.
"Mr. and Mrs. Omrani, do you by any chance know a Diaspro Winsdor? " He asked them gently.
"Y-yes. Well, not personally. Zinah's told us about her. Said that they made friends last year when they met after Diaspro had recently moved to London..." Mrs. Omrani answered.
"Well, she's saying that she was the one who reported the abduction and she's apparently tracked both young women down... We haven't verified this yet though..." Hollingsworth said cautiously.
"Well then, what are you waiting for? Go interview her, do your police work or whatever!" Mrs. Omrani exclaimed.
"Let's go. She's going to meet us at the station..." Hollingsworth said, standing up.
"We'll take my car and go right behind you..." Mr. Omrani stood up.
"So, tell us your story then." D.S. Hollingsworth sat across from Diaspro in the interrogation room, with D.S. Bramble standing behind him.
"Well, first off, Zinah had asked Helen and I to meet her at Lazeez for a night out. I was late because I had... other things to attend to..." Diaspro said, thinking of Katie.
"Uh-huh... So you were late to your meeting with Miss Omrani and Miss Howell?" Hollingsworth asked.
Diaspro nodded. "Otherwise, I might have been with them right now. I saw them being carried out of Lazeez and put into the back of a large truck- the sort they use for deliveries normally..."
"How many men did you see?" Bramble asked.
"Five of them. I watched as I hid myself and they drove off. As soon as they left, I ran to a payphone and made the call since I'd left my mobile back at my flat..." She proceeded to give the exact location of the payphone in question and the time she made the call.
"But... You said that you hid yourself. There is nowhere on that side of the sidewalk for you to have remained hidden..." Hollingsworth said.
"That's where the interesting part comes in. I am a fairy, just like the ones being discovered all around Earth. Don't worry. I won't change you into a frog. That's more of a witch thing anyway..." Diaspro said casually.
D.S. Hollingsworth and D.S. Bramble straightened up.
"You're a fairy? Prove it." D.S. Bramble challenged her.
Diaspro raised an eyebrow. "What would you like me to do?"
"Change this pen into something else." Hollingsworth slid his black pen across the desk.
Diaspro shrugged, picked up the pen, changed it into a diamond and slid it back across the desk.
"Gemstones happen to be my specialty. Do you believe that I am a fairy now?" She asked coolly.
Hollingsworth nodded.
"Good." Diaspro changed the diamond back into a pen with a flick of her hand.
"Now, you were saying..." Hollingsworth gestured for her to continue and she did.
"So I flew out of the warehouse, headed home to clean up, get whatever sleep I could and grab something to eat. As much as I would have liked to get them out right then and there, it simply wouldn't have been practical. I needed to be at the top of my game and I know that I would need help to do it..." Diaspro finished.
Just then, a female constable poked her head in.
"Hollingsworth, Bramble. The Omranis just got... a call..." She emphasized the last words and they immediately understood.
"Miss Winsdor, you should come with us..." Hollingsworth beckoned for her to follow.
Zinah and Helen were both still locked away in the warehouse.
Though both young women were now untied and huddled close to one another, a guard stood outside the door and another one stood inside, watching them.
"I've never been so bloody terrified in my life, Zee!" Helen whispered.
"Me either, Helen. I'm so sorry! They wanted me and they dragged you into it!" Zinah whispered.
"It's not your fault. I'm sure you would have done whatever you could have to prevent it..." Helen's whisper was cut off as the door swung open.
"Omrani, with us. Now." A man entered and made his way towards the terrified young women.
Zinah yelped in pain as the man grabbed her roughly by the arm and pulled her out of the room.
Helen was left alone with the other guard.
"It's not like we plan to give you back alive, anyway..." He leered at her.
Helen's eyes widened as he started coming closer.
"On no you don't! You get right back over there, you creep!" She held a hand out as if to defend herself.
The man stood still as his eyes went blank.
"Yes..." He said tonelessly as he went back to his original spot.
Helen blinked.
She looked from her hand to the guard and back again.
"Did... Did I just do that?" She wondered. "No, no, no... Just a coincidence is all..." Her puzzlement was cut off when another guard came in, tossing Zinah back onto the floor next to her.
"Bloody wankers are going to dislocate my damn shoulder before this is all over..." Zinah hissed as she rubbed her aching left shoulder.
"What did they want with you?" Helen whispered.
"They called my parents or more specifically, my dad to let them know that I was "okay"- for the moment. They want to exchange us for my dad. Given how things are and what we've heard though..." Zinah shuddered.
Then she noticed that their guard was paying no attention to them whatsoever and was staring blankly at a corner of the room farther away from them.
"What's wrong with him?" Zinah whispered.
"I don't know! I think I might have done something to him, but I'm not sure!" Helen whispered back, explaining the strange occurrence from before.
"No way! Try to make him do something again!" Zinah whispered excitedly.
Helen held out her hand towards the guard and she glowed dark blue slightly.
The guard glowed the same colour as well, before it subsided and he did a pirouette.
Helen looked at her hands and at Zinah in awe.
"You've got magic!" Zinah whispered excitedly. "I can hardly believe it! I wonder if you're a fairy too!"
"I can't believe it either and I'm the one with the powers!" Helen whisper-exclaimed.
The door slammed open suddenly.
"Tariq! Separate those two! I heard them talking! They could be planning something together!" The ringleader burst in and shoved the two women apart.
Their guard didn't respond, just standing there blankly.
"Hello? Tariq? Did you not hear what I just said?" The ringleader switched to Arabic.
Still no response from Tariq the Guard.
"Hello? Tariq? What is wrong with you?" He waved his hand in front of Tariq's face as the other men behind him grabbed hold of Zinah and Helen.
No response again.
"Those two... They have done something to him!" He growled.
"Separate these women! It was a mistake to even put them together in the first place! In fact, we don't even need the white one! Deal with her, now!" Ringleader commanded.
Both Zinah's and Helen's eyes widened.
"NO!" Both of them screamed as a dark blue light came from Helen and a dark grey light came from Zinah, forcing the men holding them to drop them from the sheer brightness of the light and the force of the energy that the two young women radiated.
When the light cleared, Zinah and Helen found that they had both undergone magical transformations- Helen's with fairy wings and Zinah's without.
And that all of the men in the room (including Tariq, who had snapped out of his Helen-induced trance) had their guns trained on them.
Diaspro was at the police station while they were about to put their rescue plan into action when she had a sudden feeling that caused her magic to flare up.
"Miss Winsdor, are you all right?" Bramble asked.
"I am, but Zinah and Helen are not. Something's happened. We need to go and get them out of there, now!" She exclaimed
"What?" A random person in the station said.
"The status spell I put on them just let me know that something is happening around them. We need to go now!"
"So are you lot just going to listen to some random fairy who flies in off the street? How do you even know that we can trust her?" One random person asked.
"Because her information has been double-checked and so far, it's been completely right!" Bramble defended her.
"Whether you believe me or not, I've got to do something!" Diaspro ran out of the station, transformed on the front steps and took to the sky.
"It's times like this that I could really do with a pair of Zoomix or Speedix wings!" She thought.
Meanwhile, on the ground, the police were sitting up and heading for their cars.
"We've got to follow her, ladies and gentlemen! Let's go, let's go, let's go!" Hollingsworth jumped into one vehicle and Bramble jumped into the other side, driving off as quickly as he could.
