Chapter Twenty-Seven: A Day Before The Ceremony

It was fairly quiet in the Magix's Police Department. There was no indicator that this day would be out of the ordinary. Ronnie ran his hands through his gingery hair. He never knew being a policeman would require so much paperwork. Maybe he would have reconsidered his specialty at Red Fountain. Miles was buried in paperwork as well. Ed had escaped it momentarily to fetch them lunch. When the silver-haired hero returned, he held the door for a dark-skinned man dressed in fine attire and green-eyed woman. He didn't think anything about it. Today was supposed to be a normal day. Ed handed Miles and Ronnie their lunch. He figured someone would attend to the civilians. Since Ronnie and Miles made no such moves, he did.

"May I help you?"

The wizard looked up with a strong face. "I'm Nabu of Andros. I'd like to surrender to authority."

"I'm his lawyer, Miele. Please connect us to Andros, Isis, and Solaria."

Regina balled her fists and punched through the wall. Nabu had surrendered himself into authorities. The threat was over; and, she was livid! They hadn't won. They failed. The Trix, Darkar, Valtor, The Wizards of the Black Circle, her uncle, were all defeated after a fight! That's the way it was supposed to be. They didn't defeat Nabu, he just gave up. She hadn't seen it coming; if she had, she would have been more proactive and sought out Nabu. It was what he deserved. After all they went through, especially Semiramis, there was no longer anything they could do.

"What has he been charged with?" Ismene was curious, a lot had happened.

Euphoria sighed as she looked at the list. "Treason, three counts of terrorism, eleven counts of conspiracy to commit murder, malicious masterminding, three counts of abduction, two counts of telepathic trespassing, eight counts of hexing, theft, misuse of anti-magic and forced magical removal of a fairy. He plead guilty to aiding and abetting dark magical beings so he could reveal his plans without being charge for them. I wonder why he didn't plead for everything else..."

"It's still fortunate... He's going away for a long time. I mean there is no way he'll be granted bail. There's no way! Especially after attacking THREE princesses, and there's no way that he can just walk." Topaz was happy. She was so relieved. Now she could go to Alfea and study. She always wanted a normal semester and now she could do that without fear.

"Technically it isn't over. There will be a trial," Euphoria said. She was conflicted. She didn't want to have to go against him. It was no longer an inevitability. He spared her having to chose between the Winx and her heart. It was twisted, but she had feelings for the wizard. She empathized with him. They both lost a great love and had to watch them be happy with someone else. The only difference was she had friends to confide in and only herself to blame. Nabu had a cruel twist of fate. Was this what he was trying to tell her the other night? She tried to slow her heart. Maybe he'd done it for her. Perhaps she was overreaching, but she had to ask him. No matter what the answer was nothing would happen between them. It was as Euphoria said, he still did horrible things and would be incarcerated a long time. "I want to see him."

"Me too. I want to PUNCH HIS FACE!" Regina hit the wall again making the fairies jump.

Ismene grabbed Regina's wrist. Regina reared to strike her. Ismene cast a sleeping spell and let the Androsian witch fall to the ground. "I'm packing my bags. I want to go back to Cloud Tower and forget this ever happened."

"What about the Winx Club?"

Ismene shrugged. "What about it?"

"We worked well together. We may not all be friends, but we weren't bad together. Don't tell me you won't miss it?" Euphoria waited on Ismene to answer.

"...We don't have to go to the same school. We could get communicators like Totally Spies." Euphoria and Topaz looked at each other. They didn't understand her reference. "Again Topaz? You need to be more in tune with your Earth history."

"I think that's fair." Euphoria smiled. "It seems more mature that way."

Topaz played with her hair. "Have you figured out what you're going to wear for the Ceremony? It would be the last Winx adventure."

Euphoria frowned, she didn't like shopping. She also wondered what Topaz meant by last Winx adventure. She tried to change the subject. "The article says that a Miele of Linphea will be defending him. I wonder what kind of deal she could get him..." Topaz thought about that name for a moment then brushed it off. The sound of Euphoria's phone buzzing snapped her out of it. The Solarian Princess answered. "Hi mom..."

Stella squealed. "Oh please tell me you heard the good news?"

"Yeah, we were just talking about it..."

"I'm just glad he stopped the madness in time for the ceremony. You're going to be the most beautiful girl there. Are you exciting?"

Euphoria frowned. "You know I don't like these type of things. I can't wait to see Semiramis though."

"I'm glad you two are friends. This could mean a lot for Solaria. Eraklyon and Isis becoming allies, then Solaria and Andros following. It would bring intergalactic peace."

Euphoria thought about Nabu's insistence that they didn't go. "They didn't find John or Stormy. Do you think it's safe to go? Nabu was nervous about them."

"In your dream, sweetheart?" Condescension rolled out of Stella.

Euphoria grew irritated. "It wasn't just a dream! He was talking to me, seeking me out-"

"And what did that nightmare witch say, sweetie?"

Euphoria sighed. "She said that she'd be able to tell if someone was forcing their way into my mind."

"Exactly, you should get better sleeping habits, love." The silver-eyed princess plopped on her bed in defeat. She wasn't getting through to her mother. She wasn't getting through to anybody. Nobody could explain why Nabu would visit her without being detected and not harm her. "We'll see you at the ceremony. Bye."

"Bye..." Topaz got the unconscious Regina off the floor and was headed to her room. "Do you think this is the last we'll see of the witches?"

Topaz looked at the countless red coils on Regina's head. She frowned. "I don't know."

Later...

Regina opened her eyes and noticed she was in her bed. "Fucking Ismene..." She rolled off out of bed and noticed her phone. She'd missed a lot of calls: her parents, Liliane, Elliott, and Semiramis. She called home first. Not surprising to her, Caspian answered. Preparing for a ball is one of the last things he'd do. Regina glared at the curly haired prince. "Get out of my room!"

"Make me."

Caspian tossed a couple of vials in the air and shrugged off her threat. "Brilliox" The vials burst into microscopic fibers of glass. They landed in Caspian's hair, arms and face. He didn't say anything at first until he felt the fiberglass itch. He got up and ran to find relief. He passed by a mirror on the way and noticed he was also sparkling. Itchy and glittery, Caspian was not pleased.

A knight picked up the phone and greeted Regina. "Greetings, princess."

"Hello Mareas, is everyone busy?"

"Yes milady. Will you be making a trip home any time soon?"

Regina nodded. "After the ball."

"Excellent."

"Goodbye, Mareas." Regina hung up and called Semiramis. There was no answer. She wasn't surprised that Semiramis didn't answer. It was her ball, she was probably too busy. Instead she dialed Elliott. He answered on the second ring. "Hey."

"Hey."

"..."

"..."

"So... you called me with nothing to say?"

"I honestly just wanted to look at you." Elliott grinned as Regina rolled her eyes. "Are you happy?"

"What's there to be happy about? It's not like we did anything. There was no battle, nothing. He just turned himself in. So no, I'm not happy."

Elliott shook his head. "Come on, you're not a little relieved?"

"No," Regina said honestly. "I guess I can take it out on John."

"Yeah, I guess. He's not here though, neither are the other cronies. The Specialists searched the City of Fire extensively, our troops are with the people at the moment. Nabu revealed that his plan was supposed to happen here. Ogron was going to drain you while Gantlos assisted, Lucy was going after Euphoria, Stormy against Topaz, and a telepath against Ismene. I think it's the same telepath they used to break into Euphoria and Ismene's mind. There was no way, you guys could have survived it."

"So two ancient wizards against me. I'm flattered."

"I think he just wanted to make sure you were dead, Regina." Elliott looked at her sideways. "You're not taking this seriously."

"What's the point if it's over?"

Elliott thought it over and agreed. "I guess. Since that's not occupying your thoughts, would you consider coming to Eraklyon tonight?"

Regina shook her head. "I won't even consider it. Bye Elliott."

"Nothing wrong with asking. See you tomorrow."

Things didn't look good. Miele managed to get the eleven counts of conspiracy to commit murder dropped with a plea deal. That still left treason, three counts of terrorism, malicious masterminding, three counts of abduction, two counts of telepathic trespassing, eight counts of hexing, theft, misuse of anti-magic and forced magical removal of a fairy. Forced magical removal of a fairy was already 100 years, treason and terrorism were capital crimes. Nabu looked at his hands and swallowed. What did it matter? He didn't have much of a life to lose anyway. He thought about his life on Andros. Then he thought about the time he spent with his friends. He felt warm, then immediately sick. Those thoughts were what got him in the situation he was in.

Miele snapped him out of his thoughts. She put her hand on the desk and looked in his eyes. Her green eyes were fierce with determination. "Hey! You aren't losing hope, are you? I can do this."

"I'm sorry. I just wonder why you're willing to help me."

Miele sighed, "If I can get you out of these charges, then that means I can get Flora out of hers. You didn't hurt my niece so I have little against you. I can get over it to help my sister. It's been so long... You just have to trust me. Tell me everything again. I mean everything."

Nabu nodded and retold the story from when he first opened his eyes.

Meanwhile...

Stormy watched Nabu confess through a crystal ball. She picked it up and threw it across the cave. John shushed her. "Do you want to get caught?"

"What's the point now? He ruined everything! I knew I shouldn't have let him sleep."

John chuckled. "Ruined? Nothing is going to change. This had to happen."

"What are you talking about?"

"Everyone thinks it's over now that Nabu's in jail."

"Of course it's over! The villain went to jail. THE END!"

John smirked. "See, that's why you were never the leader, not even now..." Before Stormy could protest, John was surrounded by reinforcements. "You should sleep."

Stormy gritted her teeth and watched as her son went over tomorrow's plans. What could she say? He was brilliant; he was powerful. He was everything she had wanted from him. John was evil without reason. It was that fact that made her do as he said and sleep; and, also the reason she slept with one eye open.

(A/N) I do not own Totally Spies. Since John didn't die, I decided he'd take Stormy's place as the story's villain. Originally, he dies and it fuels Stormy's desire to massacre the Winx and their offspring. Her evil made Nabu shirk and go to the police to warn his friends and their kids, but now it's John instead. Three more chapters left.
