Never Looked At Me That Way Before

Pairing: Roronoa Zoro X Nami

Timeline: Post-Time Skip

"ZORO!"

Leaping up from the floor of the Crow's Nest, he was startled when he heard that familiar shrill voice calling him away from his dreams. The panic was what truly gripped him, pulled away from the comfort of sleep and startled him much more than he ever cared to admit. Nami was calling him from somewhere on the Thousand Sunny, and her voice held just as much urgency as it did aggression. He made his way to the ladder and climbed down its step with the force he usually applied to his training; it was not wise to keep the navigator waiting, let alone when she was in such a state. The setting sun provided such a peaceful backdrop as he descended onto the main deck of the ship, even though his heart was in his throat until he knew what had riled the navigator so.

"Where are you?" He shouted with a hand cupped around his mouth, amplifying the volume so that it could reach her, no matter what she stood, awaiting to destroy him for one thing or another.

"In your room! Now, come here!" Demanded the witch of a woman – the only female who could order Roronoa Zoro around or beat his ass into the ground. He scowled at the Men's Quarter's door and stomped towards it, fighting the urge to contemplate just how it was she managed to bend him to her will, why he gave her such power over him. It didn't matter to him that her placement in his room was odd or that it didn't even occur to him to locate the rest of the crew before bursting into the shared bed chambers of the guys. Ignoring Nami when she had that tone of voice was nearly suicide.

And he had a dream to achieve.

"All right, I'm here. Now what—"

"Merry Christmas, Zoro-baby." Came the sing-song voice of the redhead who was perched upon the table in the Men's Quarters.

Wrapped in Christmas ribbon, and nothing else.

Zoro's body slammed the door shut behind him when he jumped back against it, completely shocked to see the sight before him! Nami – the woman he was just cursing for always operating him like some tool at her disposal – was clothed by a seemingly endless supply of red ribbon that similarly to the way a candy cane wore its colours. There was a massive bow covering her bosom, though it only seemed to barely cover her enormity. The Santa hat next to her body wasn't a part of her appearance, perhaps for covering more of her skin than she intended.

Knees bent, upper body balanced on the heels of her palms, she looked utterly confident with her seductive surprise, completed by the most inviting smirk he had ever seen.

"N-Nami, what the hell…? Why—" Instead of letting him finish, the woman on display shushed him and rose onto her knees. His hesitation, confusion and stunned state were met with nothing but encouragement for him to approach her, as she held up the Santa hat for him to try on. With a change in her position, the ribbon was revealed to have wrapped around her hips with a few more layers, creating a fanned out design in the way it decorated her pelvis.

Though it wasn't like Nami not to leave little to the imagination, yet still manage to entice.

Mindlessly did the swordsman walk towards the bound woman and dipped his head so that she could place the holiday-themed hat upon his head. Having her so close, Zoro did his best to examine her eyes for any indication that this was a joke – a prank she had been dared to play on him by someone in the crew – or some cheap attempt at manipulating him further. Their relationship had never been physical, let alone sexual; what sort of game was she playing? She wouldn't try to rock the boat by claiming to have feelings for him, right? Right!?

"There," She hummed, as her hands fell to his shoulders and she massaged them deeply, "Now we are both in the Christmas spirit."

A growl escaped him when her words brought him back to reality, "Nami, what is going on!?"

"Isn't this what you wanted? You haven't even let me tell you the best part yet," Her voice lowered the closer she brought her lips to his, and suddenly, it felt as if there was no space between them. Some instinct inside of him that he did not even know he possessed willed Zoro to steady her leaning body with his large hands, and he gently held her just below her waist. A match seemed to strike some sort of surface inside of him when the contrast between her skin and the lacy feel of her meager ribbons registered with him. He had carried Nami before and he had seen her plenty of times in a bikini – why was touching her like this, when she was dressed like this, so…staggering? "That's it."

He sounded as though he was in pain when she urged him on and the corners of his lips dug into his cheeks when he frowned at her words. A deeper, darker part of him urged Zoro to wrap her up in his hold and demand that she tell him the truth – her motivations for this inane plan of hers, why she had chosen to torture him – however, he feared that greater contact with her body would only ignite something he had never even considered before.

Something he had never felt before.

A sudden need to shake his head overtook him and he tried to back away from her warm, welcoming body. This strange gift of hers was confusing him and he did not want to think about the things it was bringing to life inside of him. Not once in his life had he considered doing to a woman all of the things that Nami was welcoming him to experience with her now. The poor excuse for clothing, the theme of the holidays and acting as a present, the newly founded yearning she displayed in wishing to be closer to him; in all their time together, he had never seen this side of her before. Least of all directed towards him. It was the astonishment that was causing his body to react, was what he surmised.

But then, she kissed him.

While he had been preoccupied with his mind, she had brought her body even closer until there was nothing left for them to but experience what it would be like to share a kiss. The moment their lips touched, Nami inhaled so deeply, he could hear the crinkling of that ribbon of hers that barely concealed her breasts as it was crushed between them. Her arms wrapped around his neck now and pulled him in deeper into a moment he did not even know how to experience. His hands tensed upon her hips and unintentionally did his fingertips dig into her skin. This assault of hers was something he was so unfamiliar with, that it was difficult for him to consider how to fend her off.

And in the blink of an eye, he decided not to. She had put in so much work to seduce him, and his body was obviously responding to everything she was trying to so for him – Zoro threw away his hesitation and lunged towards to get a sense of what this craving was between them. When she moaned, he realized that he had pinned her to the table; his knees braced on its edge, her ribbon-clad body was draped over the surface beneath him, her hair spilled out around her in a way that only made her look even more alluring. Her smile still held an edge to it, but it was less bewitching and much more fascinating than he had ever seen it.

"Nami," it was all he could do to say her name now, as if he had to affirm that she was here with him in this moment, willingly giving herself to him with reasons being damned. He decided then to test whether or not she truly meant to commit to this…experience that was happening between them: in one foul swoop, the large bow shielding her breasts was ripped away. Zoro couldn't help it – he stared at the massive decoration and felt a sort of unfamiliar pride in knowing that it wasn't able to conceal her body entirely from him—

"Now then," Suddenly, he realized that she had slipped away from him. He first glanced down at the bare table beneath him before looking up at Nami's backside as she strolled towards the hanging bunks in the room. Behaving most unlike himself tonight, he could not refrain from eyeing her curvy bottom and noticing how the ribbons tightened ever so slightly whenever she took a step. His admiration was cut short, however, when she suddenly turned around to face him and ask, "which one of these is Sanji's?"

Once he understood her intention, Zoro nearly ran towards her as if he had a new dream to achieve. The smirk he wore was unashamedly malicious, to think that she planned to use the shitty love cook's bed for their—

"Well, Zoro?" Her voice vibrated in his head when she said his name then, and it forced him to come to a halt in his approach.

"Huh?" Was the only way he could think of replying to her.

"Zoro!" She suddenly shouted at him, and her brows began to furrow before him.

"What!?" He shouted back, unnerved to be in such a situation where she was suddenly growing angry.

Then, all of his questions were answered when he heard that familiar screech say, "WAKE UP!"

With a jolt did he spring forward from his resting pose against the mast, just as startled as he was confused. His eyes flew about the lawn deck before they landed on the woman who had just plagued him during his peaceful rest: Nami, dressed in a long winter coat and boots, not ribbons. No, instead, she was pointing to the rows of garland that were hung along the rooftop of the kitchen as she scolded, "How can you be sleeping when we need your help putting up decorations? Plus, it's freezing cold out here! Get up right now and come help us decorate your Crow's Nest!" Then, with a hefty huff, she spun around and walked into the newly holiday-themed kitchen.

For quite some time, Zoro simply sat in place and allowed for his mind to remain blank while taking his time to return to reality. His dream had been so oddly constructed and the only conclusion he could come to that would help him achieve some sort of peace was that his shopping trip with her yesterday had become muddled inside of his mind, and emerged as some inexplicable mash-up of images while he slept. Nami usually dressed down, it was Christmas time – the explanation seemed so simply! Still, there was something he simply could not deny.

Never had he experienced a dream so…dirty.

Or festive, for that matter.

Author's Notes:

Ha ha, a little cheeky ficlet for those of my readers who have been asking for something more risqué. I haven't officially decided if these Christmas themes will be entirely chronological, but I imagine you will be able to tell, based off when it takes place or whatnot.

If this all takes place in order, then uh oh, Zoro's got some secret hunger to deal with this holiday season! That, and his rivalry with Sanji really knows no bounds. Here we have Nami talking about being friends again and then we have this buffoon over here dreaming about her tied up with Christmas ribbon… Oh, the possibilities!

ALSO! Yay for Chapter 20! One-fifth through these themes, and we aren't stopping anytime soon!

Thank you so much for reading~!
