NYLON ~ 75 ~ TOO SOON
Emily knocked on the door frame to Hanna's office. Hanna looked up from her work and gave her a smiled before gesturing to Emily to take a seat.
"What's going on?" Hanna asked.
"I have an idea," Emily told her, "and I need your help."
"What kind of idea?" Hanna inquired.
"I want to open a gym," Emily told her. "I have some money saved up and I want to be able to teach my own classes when it's convenient for me."
"And you want us to design it?" Hanna asked.
"That's the idea," Emily replied.
"So what were you thinking?" Hanna asked pulling out her paint swatches.
"Wow," Emily took a second to adjust to how quickly her ideas were being put to paper.
"We try to be prepared here," Hanna explained. "But obviously, take your time to think about it. We can always set up another appointment and just get lunch right now instead."
"Lunch sounds amazing," Emily replied not quite ready to dive into her new business plans.
Hanna grabbed her purse and they took the elevator down to the ground floor. Then they got a table at a restaurant a few blocks away.
"So," Hanna said as they opened their menus, "how are things, you know, aside from this new gym venture?"
"I don't know if I told you," Emily smiled, "but Kristen's parents dropped the custody suit."
"That's amazing!" Hanna told her. "I mean, obviously you would have won, but this is much easier."
"Yeah, it's better for Ben," Emily replied.
"What about what's good for Emily?" Hanna asked. "Have you seen Paige again?"
"She was actually the one who told me the news," Emily explained. "After her psych evaluation, they decided to drop the case. The evidence was mounted against them."
"I'm just saying," Hanna told her, "don't let her get away this time."
"It's too soon," Emily replied. "I mean, Kristen..."
"She was my friend too," Hanna reminded her, "and I don't want to disrespect her memory. I just think you should keep your good friends close and she was a definitely a good friend."
"I'll think about it," Emily said cooly.
"Sorry," Hanna apologized. "None of my business."
The rest of their lunch date was uneventful and Hanna managed to keep her foot out of her mouth. When they were done, they parted ways and Hanna headed back to her office.
