NYLON ~ 87 ~ WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU?
Hanna finished her last set of squats and then stood up to catch her breath. She pressed her hand to her growing belly and felt the girls kicking swiftly against her side. She grabbed a bottled water and took a long swig.
"Hey," Emily tapped on the door.
"Hi," Hanna smiled grabbing her weights to put away.
"I'll get those," Emily offered. "You shouldn't be lifting them."
"I just lifted them sixty times," Hanna reminded her.
"Right," Emily laughed. "I just meant...never mind."
"It's fine," Hanna laughed putting on her jacket.
"My bad," Emily replied. "You're here more than I am. Maybe we should have you teach the classes."
"I can't slack," Hanna gestured to her stomach. "Not with these two growing at the speed of light."
"I'm sure you'll bounce back in record time," Emily told her.
"Easy for you to say," Hanna laughed. "You've got the body of a Victoria's Secret Angel."
"Thanks Han," Em blushed.
"Alright," Hanna picked up her bag. "I better get home."
"I'll see you for dinner tonight, right?" Emily asked.
"Yeah," Hanna replied. "Caleb's grilling so text him if you want anything special."
"Will do," Emily smiled as she waved Hanna out the door.
Hanna slung her bag over her shoulder and walked the three blocks to her building. She greeted the doorman and stepped into the elevator to reach the top floor. The doors opened and she entered the empty foyer.
"Hello?" she called out.
"Hey!" Caleb emerged from the nursery. He walked over and placed a hand around her waist before pulling her in for a kiss.
"What's gotten into you?" Hanna laughed.
"I'm just happy to see you," he muttered into her neck.
"Can you be happy to see me after I shower?" she rolled her eyes.
"Is that an invitation?" he whispered.
"Ew no," she slapped his hand away and stormed straight to the bedroom.
After a long shower, Hanna reemerged wearing a floral sundress that reached the floor even with her towering wedge sandals. Her wet hair was pulled back into a messy braid. Caleb saw her and quickly stood up to block her passage.
"Caleb," she mused, "are you high?"
"No," he laughed. "I just have a surprise for you."
"Okaaaaay," she paused.
"Come on," he grabbed her hand and led her into the nursery.
"Caleb," she breathed as she saw the recently decorated room with two cribs propped against the freshly painted wall. "How did you have time to do this?"
"Toby helped," Caleb explained. "We've had it planned for weeks."
"It's perfect," Hanna gushed admiring the matching pink linens and sleek white furniture. "What about JT?"
"He's taking a nap in his new room," Caleb explained. "This is why it pays to own a design firm."
"It's unbelievable," she pressed a hand to her mouth. "Caleb, I don't deserve you."
"Come here," he pulled her close. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. You deserve all this and more, okay?"
"Okay," she smiled blinking away her tears.
"Princess," he kissed her forehead. "Don't cry."
"It's just so..." she wiped the happy tears from her eyes. "It's beautiful."
Caleb smiled and pulled her into a protective hug. He had dealt with all of her mood swings through this pregnancy but he had never seen her so incredibly happy in his life. In that moment he knew that no matter what obstacles they faced, they would always have each other.
