NYLON ~ 90 ~GOOD NEWS
Caleb stood in the doorway and cleared his throat loudly. Hanna was propped up against a dozen pillows while JT sat next to her drawing in a coloring book. Her huge belly rested on her crossed legs.
"Hey," Caleb smiled at her.
"Please tell me you have exciting news," she sighed. "I've already rewatched every season of The Real World."
"Good news," he said sitting down on the bed next to her. "We're ahead of schedule on the hotel. We'll be done by the end of the week."
"What?" Hanna squealed. "That's amazing. That's a full month ahead."
"I know," he kissed her. "It's all because of you."
"Come on," she scoffed, "how much work could I have done with two kids on the way?"
"Everything," he told her. "Your plan to put the teams on a rotating schedule, instead of waiting for each to be finished, cut our production time in half."
"I did that?" Hanna blushed.
"Mama, you did it," JT chimed in.
"Yeah babe," Hanna smiled at him. "Your mama's still got it."
"Dad," JT turned to Caleb, "can we go to the park. Mama won't take me because she said the babies won't let her."
"That's right," Caleb laughed, "but if we go then we'll leave Mom all alone."
"She's not alone," JT said matter-of-factly. "She has the babies. They're always with her."
"Buddy," Caleb told him, "can you think of something we can all do together?"
"Good one Daddy," Hanna gave her husband a smirk.
"I don't know," JT mused. "Maybe we could make cookies for Grandma. She likes oatmeal."
"Which grandma said that?" Hanna laughed. "My mom's idea of dessert is a glass of pinot grigio."
"Mama?" JT asked. "What's a pinogreejo?"
"It's something adults drink," Caleb told him, "when they can't sleep."
"Grandma can't sleep?" JT asked concerned.
"Sometimes she's not tired," Hanna tried to explain, "but after taking care of you, she's always tired."
"I think I'm a little tired," JT rubbed his eyes.
"Are you ready for a nap, Jamie?" Hanna asked.
"No," he protested. "Not yet."
"Are you sure?" Caleb asked him. "I can take you to the park after your nap."
"Okay," JT replied. "I think I'll take a nap now."
"Do you want me to read you a story?" Hanna offered.
"Nope," JT replied. "You guys stay here."
"Okay," Hanna smirked as her demanding son disappeared into his own room.
Caleb crawled across the bed sitting down next to Hanna. She rested her head on his shoulder and kissed his cheek.
"What was that for?" he asked.
"I like you," she replied.
"You do?" he laughed.
"Just a little," Hanna said.
Caleb laughed and cupped her face in his hand before he kissed her. She smiled and batted her eyelashes tickling his face. Then she felt a stabbing sensation around her belly button. She pressed her hand to it and pulled away.
"What is it?" Caleb asked concerned.
"She kicked me," Hanna said feeling the same pang once more.
"I just saw it," Caleb stared in shock. Then it happened again. "Oh my God. Does that hurt?"
"Yeah," Hanna sighed out of breath.
"Babe," Caleb kissed her forehead. Then he rested his hand on her belly. "You're amazing."
"I know," she smiled. Then she turned to him. "You know, we're going to have to figure out a name for these two."
"What were you thinking?" Caleb asked.
"I'm glad you asked," she said handing him a handwritten list. "Since I've been on bed rest, I've had quite a lot of time on my hands."
"I see that," Caleb laughed perusing the list.
