NYLON ~ 93 ~ JUST LIKE HER MOM

Hanna rocked Tai in her arms while JT played on the floor with his toy cars. Next to him, Caleb tapped away at his computer, looking up occasionally. Finally Tai closed her eyes and Hanna got up to place her in her crib. In the crib next to hers, Ashley slept soundly. Hanna paused for a moment staring at her two little girls bundled up tightly in their pink blankets. A second later Caleb stood in the doorway.

"Hey," he breathed.

"Hi," Hanna smiled.

"They're so tiny," Caleb said.

"Was I that tiny?" JT chimed in.

"They're sleeping," Hanna shushed him. "We have to be quiet."

"Okay," JT made a big show of speaking in a whisper.

"Come on," Caleb ushered them out of the room. "Let's let them sleep."

Caleb picked up JT and Hanna grabbed the baby monitor before they stepped back into the living room. Hanna collapsed on the couch and JT went back to his toys while Caleb headed into the kitchen to prepare something for them to eat.

"You hungry?" he called out.

"I'm starving," JT announced.

"Sorry babe," Hanna said. "I haven't had a chance to make anything lately."

"How about we call in some take out?" Caleb suggested.

"Can we try and pick something healthy?" Hanna pleaded. "I have a feeling take out is going to be our only sustenance for a few more weeks."

"How healthy?" Caleb pleaded with her. "Vegan healthy or like getting veggies on pizza?"

"Pizza!" JT chanted. "I want pizza! I want pizza!"

"Now look what you've done," Hanna sighed.

Before she could protest the unhealthy food, Ashley woke up and her cries filled the room as they came in on the monitor.

"I'll go get her," Hanna said.

She walked into the nursery and picked Ashley up out of her crib and bounced her until she stopped crying. There was no end to the wailing so Hanna checked all the usual culprits and then laid Ashley down on the change table.

"Han?" Caleb poked his head in. "It looks like we're getting pizza. The little man pressured me into it."

"Really?" Hanna laughed. "You're blaming a three-year-old?"

"He's got the power of persuasion," Caleb shrugged.

"Just wait," Hanna told him. "In a couple years, Tai and Ash will be old enough to talk too, then you'll be outnumbered. Grilled veggies all around."

"I'll give you ten bucks to be a tomboy," Caleb said leaning over Tai's crib.

"She's sleeping," Hanna warned him. "And she's an infant. Don't go corrupting her yet."

"Okay boss," Caleb smiled.

Hanna finished changing Ashley and then wrapped her up tight. She picked up the little girl and cradled her in her arms before carrying her back into the living room. She went out just in time for their food to arrive but Hanna hardly got a chance to eat before Tai woke up.

She went back to her motherly duties and did her best to get a few bites in between. Caleb tried to help as much as possible but there was just a lot he couldn't do and Hanna found herself splitting her time between her two newborn daughters with nearly no energy left for JT, and even less for herself and Caleb. Luckily JT was thoroughly enjoying all the time he got to spend with his dad.

Finally, Hanna managed to get enough food and put both girls down for bed. She let Caleb know she was going down for a quick nap and then made her way to her bedroom. Without even changing or turning down the sheets, Hanna laid down on the bed and passed out in a matter of seconds.

"Babe," Caleb kissed her shoulder after what felt like less than a minute.

"Go away," she groaned.

"Han," he covered her in kiss, "I love you so much."

"Caleb," she seethed.

"I know, I know," he sighed, "but Tai is hungry and as much as I wish I could, you've got to take care of her."

"Fine," Hanna slowly got up. "Bring her here?"

Caleb smiled and headed off to the nursery. In his absence, Hanna sat back against the pillows and waited for Caleb to come back carrying their little girl.

"Here," he said placing Tai in Hanna's arms.

"Okay baby," Hanna rolled down her top.

"She's gorgeous," Caleb whispered sitting down next to Hanna. "Just like her mom."
