The warm summer sun felt good on Lucy's tired body. Laying in a white, pink decorative bikini, the stellar mage let out a sigh before turning onto her stomach and letting the sun tan her back. Sounds of cheers and laughter faded as drowsiness started to kick in and lull the blonde teen to slumber.
After sending the volleyball down in a powerful spike, Erza glanced over in Lucy's direction, noticing that the blonde was the only guild member not participating in any of the beach activities. Wiping the sweat from her brow, the red haired shot out her arm and grabbed the first person running past her.
"Natsu, it looks like Lucy fell asleep. Go make sure she has enough sunscreen. We wouldn't want our teammate to burn," Erza said briskly before readying herself for the next volleyball game. Glancing at the sleeping blonde, Natsu opened his mouth to complain how he didn't have time and needed to beat Gray at building the best sandcastle, but wasn't able to utter a single word at the sight of Erza's glare. Nodding furiously, the salmon haired teen stiffly marched over to the stellar mage without complaint.
"Why do I have to do it, Luce can handle herself. A little sun ain't gunna hurt her," Natsu grumbled before plopping himself down and reached for the bottled sunscreen. With the bottle already open, Natsu was struck by an idea. Grinning from ear to ear, the dragon slayer cackled quietly and glanced back from the bottle to Lucy's back.
Brown eyes fluttered open as Lucy let out a loud yawn and pushed herself upward. Giving a long stretch, the blonde made her way towards Levy and some of the other members of Fairy Tail.
"Hi Levy," Lucy yawned, "Do you happen to know what time it is?"
"Have you been sleeping this whole time, Lulu?" the blue haired script mage questioned, calling Lucy by her little nickname dubbed only for the petite mage. "It's about four thirty now, so only thirty minutes until we head back to the guild."
"Thanks Levy, I guess I needed that nap," Lucy yawned once more before turning back towards her spot to start gathering her things. Hearing Levy's loud gasp, Lucy hesitated in her steps and turned her head to look at the blue haired teen.
"What's wrong, Levy?"
"Lulu, did you happen to look at your back earlier?" Levy questioned, making Lucy's brown eyes widen with immense alertness.
"My back? What's wrong wi-" Gray's loud laugh interrupted Lucy's question.
"Hey Lucy! What's with the animals on your back!" Gray shouted from behind Levy, making Levy wince at the loud noise.
"Wha!? Levy, what is he talking about!" Lucy panicked, spinning around quickly to try and catch a sight of what was on her back.
"Calm down, Lulu. It's just some sunscreen. You put some on earlier, right?" Lucy's expression dropped as she stopped spinning.
"I-I forgot to." Wide eyed, Levy ran with Lucy to her stuff and pulled out two mirrors, angling the two to show Lucy the drawings on her back. Drawn in sunscreen were a bunny, cat, and something that looked like a frog spitting out lightning. Letting out a wail, Lucy tried wiping away the sunscreen in hopes that it was only done recently and that no mark would be made. Unfortunately for her, a nice red sunburn colored her back, leaving behind the pale drawings. Hearing the commotion, Erza started to make her way over towards the two mages.
"What's wrong? What are you making such a...oh...what a horrible sunburn. I thought I told Natsu to make sure you had enough...NATSUUUU!" Erza bellowed, pushing herself up and running towards the cowering teen.
Sobs forever more. Bonus prompt for Nalu week long long ago. Wanted to combine both prompt ideas of summer and sleep, so...TADA. Oh man, I am horrible and probably lost so many readers. Oh well. I really missed writing though and thank those of you that decided to read this. Now if only I can get the inspiration/someone to possible beta for my other Nalu stories. Hope you liked and leave a thought before you go!
