Angela batted her long lashes in confusion before shaking the snow off herself like a dog.

"Hey!" she snarled only to get another snowball splattered straight in her face and two more in the shoulder. Beau laughed but his face turned into one of worry as Angela's bared her fangs at him... Which was nothing short of terrifying but within a flash, the scowl turned into a smile.

" You've done it Beau... You've really done it this time!" she declared in mock anger before eagerly joining him, her previous worries all forgotten.

Before long, the two were engaged in a full-scale snowball fight... With both sides unwilling to lose to each other...At first, Beau's well-aimed and well-timed snowballs viciously assaulted Angela, turning her dark fur almost white in color. However, the longer the two were engaged in the fight, the more Angela got a hold of things and soon Beau found himself being overwhelmed by a fleet of flying snowballs. It wasn't surprising though... She did have bigger hands... And was immensely stronger... Ducking another dozen, Beau scrambled behind a tree and waved his cloak in the air like a flag.

"Mercy! Mercy! " He cried out dramatically.

"Come again?" Angela grinned, tossing another snowball between her paws mischievously...

Beau faked a pained face" Have Mercy..." he chocked

"NEVER!" Angela laughed and Beau grunted as a snowball smacked him straight in the face, wiping it off he made a mad dash as Angela came bounding towards him...

"Scared now? If you had half a brain, you'd retreat! You can't outrun a beast!" Angela challenged as she threw her cloak over her shoulder dramatically.

"Says who?" Beau challenged with a laugh. Angela bared her teeth...

"Playfully... she's baring her teeth playfully..." Beau reprimanded himself. Yes those fangs were terrifying but he was having too much fun to let this little setback ruin it...

"I'll kill you if I catch you..." Angela warned.

"That's if you can catch me..." Beau winked.

With a quick smile, Beau feinted left and darted right. Not taken in by his pretense, Angela remained right behind him. Never letting him out of her sight... At one point, she even caught his cloak, but he managed to unclasp it fast enough to let it fly free. Beau laughed as he threw another snowball at Angela, grinning at how it splattered in her face... He was having the time of his life and he sincerely hoped that she felt the same way... The playful tenor of her growls and the way she had let him slip free of the cloak's tangle seemed to be an indication enough and Beau grinned satisfactorily...

Finally, there little cat and mouse game came to an end as Angela made a wild, desperate lunge, tackling Beau into the snow bank.

"Got you!" she declared proudly as she stood back up on twos only to stare first in confusion than in horror at Beau... He was not moving...

Quickly she kneeled to Beau's side, her heart beating wildly...

"Beau? Beau!..." There was no answer...

Instantly, hers paw flew to her mouth...

"Oh my goodness... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... I aghh!" she screamed as Beau suddenly sprang up, grabbing her leg, causing her to fall flat on her back next to him...

"You should see the look on your face!" Beau laughed, pointing at Angela who panted heavily, still getting over the shock.

"Don't... Ever... do that again..." Angela shuddered looking at her paws.

"Why not?" Beau laughed. "It was funny..."

Angela at that moment, wanted to grab Beau by the shoulders and give him a piece of her mind.

"It wasn't funny! You scared me... Do you have any idea what you could have put me through if I had hurt you...I wouldn't have been able to live with myself!" was what she intended to say but Beau's smile was infectious and when she opened her mouth... She just couldn't muster the courage to say what she intended to...

"I guess it was..." she said finally, a small smile tugging at her cheeks.

"Good!" Beau laughed, obviously oblivious to Angela's distress and with a cheerful sigh he lay back onto the snow and started to vigorously spread his limbs back and forth...

Angela cocked her to a side, confused by what Beau was doing... He looked like he was imitating a drowning starfish... Not the kind of behavior she had expected from an intellectual like him...

"Uh...What are you doing?"

"Stand up and see..."

Together, they rose from their lying positions.

Beau pointed to the imprint he made.

"It's a snow angel! See the dress and the wings? One of the best I did... if I do say myself..." Beau grinned nodding in approval at his own work. Angela couldn't help but smile... How... adorable of Beau to engage in such childish activities... What an idiot... But that was what Angela liked about him... That he could make her smile...

"It's beautiful..." she nodded, and then her eyes travelled to her own imprint... And it made her cringe with disgust...

Noticing Angela's sudden silence, Beau stopped smiling.

"What's wrong?" he asked softly, laying his hand on Angela's cloaked shoulder.

She shuddered violently, not from the cold but from the image of her own imprint...

"That's no Angel... That's a monster..." she whispered harshly before looking away shamefully...

"And why are you ashamed?" a nasty voice sounded in her head. "You know what you are... A monster... So why deny it? Why pretend you're something that you aren't." Angela bit her lip, her heart contracting painfully... The voice was right...

She knew what she was... a monster... A monster and nothing more... But she couldn't help it... She hated this... She hated the enchantress for turning her into this beast, she hated the beast for giving her so much pain, she hated being the beast, she hated herself... She... she feared herself...

Beau blinked as Angela practically shrunk before him, curling within herself like a frightened dog as she wrapped herself tightly in a hug, her head low, her eyes faraway... as if in deep agony... He stopped his fasciation with the snow and turned his full attention to her... Did this really affect her so badly? It just intrigued him so much...why this beast... minded so much about being a beast... Beau stole a quick glance at her imprint; it didn't look THAT BAD... In fact it looked quite all right... It just didn't look... human... Beau reached out to point that out to her, but then drew back realizing that highlighting their differences verbally would most likely sting her to the core...

Feeling sorry for her... Beau ran his hand through his hair, thinking seriously for a while, before his face lit up. With a smile, Beau reached out and grabbed Angela's paws, something he found himself doing more and more often...

"Close your eyes..." he said gently, pressing his hand over Angela's eyelids.

"Why?" she asked suspiciously, her green eyes gleaming with caution and hesitation.

Beau gave her his most reassuring smile...

"Trust me?" he pleaded.

Angela wanted to pull away, but Beau's warm brown eyes were just to inviting... Again, she could clearly picture his hurt should she have declined...

"Why do you care?" Angela snarled at herself, she never cared about what other people thought much less their feelings... Why should Beau matter...

"To hell with it... because I like seeing him happy..." she admitted stubbornly.

Sighing and making a face, she closed her eyes...

Angela stiffened a little when Beau broke apart from her touch. There was shuffling and then footsteps. Angela's heart rate skyrocketed as the footsteps quickened in pace and then proceeded to get further and further away...

"Oh no... You fool... he's running away from you... He's running away!" she thought panicky, desperately wanting to open her eyes but calmed down when she heard the footsteps slow down and approach her...

"Beau?" Angela said uncertainly not really knowing what to expect.

"SHH! I need concentration!"

Angela pursed her lips but allowed a small mental sigh of relief... Beau wasn't running away... He was here... He was keeping his promise... He was here with her... Beau on the other hand eyed Angela closely as she appeared to shuffle her feet nervously...

"Hope she likes this..." he muttered as he made the finishing touches... He didn't want to risk making her more morbid than she already was... Brushing the snow aside, he stood up.

"Ok... Look..."

Angela opened her eyes and gasped... Before her, where her imprint was minutes earlier was the most beautiful snow angel...

"Beau... Did you?"

Beau smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck...

"You looked so sad... so I drew over this for you... The perfect angel..."

"I..." Angela was at lost for words... Beau's actions rocked her to the core... No one had... No one had ever done this kind of thing for her before...

Beau felt a twinge of uneasiness as he watched Angela stare at his work... "Do you like it? I mean... I'm a terrible artist but..."

Beau stopped as Angela's hands closed over his own, her eyes full of unspoken gratitude...

"It's beautiful..." she stuttered... "I love it... Thank you..."

C'mon we all knew this was coming... the snow scene where they bond :) As much as I don't like over the top romance stuff... I still liked this scene from the movie... Because its an opportunity for character development... I hope in this chapter its clearer that Beau is getting more comfortable around Angela. That he's not as insensitive as he was in the previous chapters... Also, Angela is being more self reflective not in the way "I was cursed and my life sucks"... well there is a little of that... but people don't change over night... She's more self reflective in the sense she sees how her actions would affect the people around her... She's more open and less numb and she actually does like to have fun... She just needs someone like Beau to show her how... Agree with me? Disagree with me let me know in your reviews because you are all wonderful people 3
