Chapter #3: Troubles
A brown haired figure ran through the huge hallways of the Vongola mansion with his phone held tightly in his grip. Said brunet was trying to steady his breath as he scanned through his surrounding, searching for his fiancée and friend who are the main cause of his uneasy.
His intuition had been acting up for a while and it could only mean that something bad might possibly happen soon.
'It's been two hours… where could they possibly be gone to? They usually reply my calls and messages immediately!' the Vongola Decimo gritted his teeth as the ringing at the back of his head started to worsen and this only made him started to quicken his pace.
While the Mafioso was still running through the empty hallways, he suddenly caught sight of his silver haired right hand man who is walking in his direction with a file held in his hands.
"G-Gokudera-kun!" he called, looking out of breath and restless as he had been searching for Kyoko and Haru ever since the past thirty minutes. The storm guardian who was reading the file in his hand looked up when he heard his boss calling his name.
"Tenth? Is there anything you need?" the Italian asked with an edge of worry as he noticed that his boss was out of breath.
"H-Have you seen Kyoko or Haru?" the brunet asked between his pants as he did not bothered to catch his breath.
The older of the two placed a hand on his chin as he recalled through what had happed in the morning before he answer his boss's question. "If I'm not wrong, the stupid woman told me that she is going to go for shopping with Kyoko-san this morning."
"But that was two hours ago! A-And Kyoko didn't answer my calls or reply my messages!" Tsuna said in panic as several horrible thought came across his mind.
There is always a high possibility for Kyoko and Haru to get kidnapped and killed due to their connection with the Vongola family. He had always been protective towards the girls, especially his fiancée who is always becoming the main target of the enemy families' out there
Tsuna would never forgive himself if anything happened to his beloved fiancée and friend. The brunet didn't even notice that he had been mumbling nonsense to himself the whole time as various scenes were played in his mind. The worst thing that could possibly happened to the two girls kept flashing in his mind and it scared him.
"Please calm down, Tenth!" Gokudera exclaimed as he grasped his boss by his shoulders and shook him, trying his best to calm the panicking brunet down. Tsuna looked straight into his right-hand man's emerald hues before he finally managed to stop those horrible scenes from continuing flashing in his mind, which is a good thing since he could have start hyperventilating soon if no one is stopping him.
"I'm sure they would be fine! Although the girls doesn't have their own flames like us, but they had learnt a lot with Lal Mirch during all these years. Remember, Tenth?"
It took time for the Mafioso to calm down. Tsuna took a deep breath before he looked up at his friend. "Maybe you're right, Gokudera-kun. B-But my intuition-"
The brunet's words were cut off when the other's phone suddenly rang. Gokudera pulled his phone out from his breast pocket and noticed the screen indicating that the caller was Haru. He looked at his boss with a smile as he held his phone up, showing the phone screen to his boss who let out a sigh of relief when he notice who is the caller.
"What is it, stupid woman?" Gokudera picked up the call and tried to sound as annoyed as he could. Although, in truth, he was relieved to know the girls are alright.
"… Hand over the phone to the Vongola Decimo." The silver haired Italian raised his brow at the unfamiliar rough voice of a man. He pulled the phone away from his ear before handling it over to his boss, who looked at him in question before bringing the phone up to his ear.
"Hello?"
"We have the two ladies of Vongola." The man from the other side of the phone said in Italian, and Tsuna's eyes widened as he let the words to slowly sink into his mind.
"If you wanted the two ladies to be back safe and sound, you are going to listen to my command. And I'll be giving you twenty minutes to decide if you would like to accept this term that I had offered to you. Do anything suspicious and we won't guarantee these two pretty ladies' safety…" the kidnapper let out a loud cackle before ending the call. Tsuna lowered his head, his bangs covering his eyes as he lowered the phone down.
"T-Tenth? Is there something wrong-?"
Tsuna clenched the phone in his hand so hard that it broke into two pieces with a loud crack. He slowly tilted his head up to look at his right-hand man. His bright orang hues were glowing and a flame flickering in its highest purity appeared on his forehead.
"How dare they…" the brunet murmured lowly under his breath as his ambers reflected pure anger. Tsuna clenched his teeth tightly as he turned his sight back to his storm guardian.
"Gokudera-kun, please contact all the guardians and tell them to prepare their weapons immediately. This is an order."
It was rare for Tsuna to use his serious tone and Gokudera understand how serious their current situation might be. Although he didn't know what had happened to the girls, but seeing Tsuna's rage expression answered all his questions.
The girls are in danger now.
"As you wish, Tenth." The half-Italian man bowed his head slightly before he rushed off to contact the other guardians. Tsuna frowned when he managed to catch a glimpse of worried written on his friend's face.
"The moment they laid their hands on them…" the brunet murmured lowly under his breath as he slowly loosen his grip around the damaged phone, letting them broken pieces to slowly fall out from his palms. "… Is the moment they should regret for doing so…"
Purple hues gazed out boringly at the fluffy clouds that covered the calm blue sky. Chrome had her right hand cupping her cheek as her left hand play with a few strands of her loose purple locks. Once in a while, she will glance at the seat on the other end of the Vongola private airplane to look at the other mist guardian who had his arms folded together across his chest. The man is sleeping ever so peacefully and his breathing is deep and relaxed.
Minutes passed and Chrome couldn't pull her attention away from the sleeping illusionist as she noticed how his broad shoulders shivered at the coldness of the air condition. The purple haired illusionist let a sigh to slip out from her lips as she couldn't stop herself from being worry over the man she hates with all her guts.
She stood up from her seat and started to look around her surrounding in search for the plane's cabinet. There was one at the far corner and she opened it before taking out the blanket, bringing it along with her as she walked towards the sleeping man. She gently covered his shivering cold body with the warm blanket as her violet hues trailed down to gaze at his features.
She hated him and the feelings had never faded away once before in these ten years. However, as she looked at his sleeping figure, she just couldn't help but let a warm smile to form at the thin edge of her lips.
'I guess… I just enjoy staring at his peaceful sleeping face. When was the last time I ever saw him sleeping so peacefully?' the purple haired girl thought to herself as she pulled a few strands of his loose blue hair away from his face and tugged them behind his ear.
Delicate fingers stopped all in sudden when the female illusionist herself realize that she was staring and touching the peaceful sleeping face of the man she sworn to hate for her eternal life. Chrome felt warm creeping up on her cheeks as she pulled her fingers away and rested her thumb and index finger on the bridge of her nose.
There is something wrong with her, right?
She shook her head as she stood up and walked back to her seat.
She hates him, really.
Yet, she still couldn't stop herself from turning her head around to stare at the other's peacefully sleeping face.
And she didn't know sleepiness could be so contagious.
Her eyelids suddenly felt heavy as she made herself comfortable on her seat. Once she found the perfect comfy place, she let her eyes to flutter close and she drifted into a deep sleep in another second.
Chrome stared down at the white bed sheet that covered her pale skinny self blankly. The smell of antiseptics and medicine filled the room as she lay quietly on her hospital bed, feeling numbed and lifeless just like she always is ever since the day she was being abandoned.
No one could ever make her feels better, not even her friends who came to visit her every day and tried to cheer her up. Days passed and the female illusionist did not even utter a single word to anyone, nor did she ever want to touch and have a bite on the glorious food the girls had prepared for her. All she wanted was to see him again… to ask him why he left without telling her, why he abandoned her…
'Why…? What did I do wrong…?'
The purple haired girl thought to herself sadly as tears brimmed in her violet eyes. Those tears slowly flowed out and dripped down on her hands that were clenching the silky blanket as she gently bites on her dried lips.
The door was suddenly being slammed open and Chrome snapped her head up to look at her visitor. Her teary eyes widened in surprise when she saw the least person she would expected to come and visit her.
Hibari Kyoya.
"H-Hibari-san…?" Chrome managed to call out as she quickly wiped her tears away with the long sleeves of her shirt. The skylark stared at her wordlessly for a few seconds before he walked towards the side of her bed and held up a plastic bag which fell gently on her blanket covered lap. The younger girl looked at the bag curiously before she brought it closer towards herself and her eyes peeked into the content.
It was a clear box filled with porridge inside and a bottle of mineral water.
She slowly looked up at the cloud guardian in question as the man sat on the seat beside her bed. He simply crossed his legs and arms together as he scanned the female illusionist from her messy purple locks to her pale skin.
"Eat, herbivore." The skylark ordered plainly. "Get better soon so that you can chase after the pineapple herbivore when he came back."
Chrome was silent for a moment and soon, her lips quivered as she sniffed. More droplets of tears streamed down her face as she murmured 'thank you' between her soft cries. The other kept his eyes close although deep inside, he is glad that his visit had made her felt better.
"I'm here now. Stop crying."
The purple haired girl nodded her head at the other's words as she took a deep breath to calm her sobs. She rubbed her tears away once again before she slowly opened the small container.
"… I-Itadakimasu…" Chrome whispered before she dipped her spoon into the porridge. A soft smile was tugged on her lips and she felt alive for once ever since she was being abandoned all these time.
"Thank you… Hibari-san."
Mix-matched hues slowly fluttered open when the blue haired illusionist heard soft whimpers and sobs. Mukuro straightened himself up from his seat and he glanced around the private flight before his eyes finally land on Chrome whose eyes were clamped close and her brows were furrowed together. Soft, trembling whimpers were escaping through her lips between quick pants and Mukuro knew what this meant.
She is having a nightmare.
A frown tugged on the older illusionist's lips. She always tried to look strong in front of him, but perhaps… behind the strong mask she held on her face, she is still the fragile girl he knew all along.
He stood up from his seat and calmly made his way towards the sleeping girl. He took his seat beside her and without any hesitation, he pulled his hand out and grabbed hers, desperately hoping that he could chase away the nightmare that was haunting her.
"… I'm here now. Stop crying." He whispered quietly as he pulled his other hand out and ruffled her purple locks gently. To his surprise, the other seemed to feel his warmth and she leaned forward towards his touch. Her breath slowly steadied back and her trembling mumbles had stopped.
Mukuro gave out a sigh of relief and he was about to pull his hand away from her hair when a weight suddenly dropped on top of his shoulder, making him nearly losing his balance. The older illusionist's eyes widened in surprise as he watched the younger illusionist snuggled against the crook of his neck.
A faint blush painted on Mukuro's face as he was very much aware of how close they were with the sleeping girl breathing against his neck. He felt his heart skipped a beat and the odd feeling of heart fluttering was messing with his mind.
She gently intertwined their fingers together in her sleep and he would have smiled in pure happiness for seeing how close she is to him if it was not the taboo word, or more likely, name that slipped off through her lips that managed to crash his good mood.
"… Kyoya."
The single name that slipped off from her lips is all it takes for the male illusionist to snap. Thousands of questions were flashing through the blue haired illusionist's mind as he wondered what kind of relationship had been developed by his sweet innocent Chrome with the blood-thirsty skylark all these years where he is not here with her.
'Unforgivable… this is totally unforgivable…! When we met… I swear I'm going to kill this damned skylark for staining my Chrome's innocence…!'
A figure sneezed as the man tried to make himself comfortable on the Japanese cushion under him. Onyx orbs glared sharply at the innocent cup of green tea in his hands as the man wondered which herbivore dared to speak ill about him.
Well, there were already millions of assassins out there who knew his name. So, the infamous cloud guardian of Vongola family; Hibari Kyoya decided to continue sipping on his tea with only a simple thought being made in his mind.
He will just bite every single herbivore he came across to.
To be continued.
Ending Note: Thanks for everyone who still read this story although it's a piece of mess!
