You read the news.

"Gigapause."

The Megapause had been bad enough- it had lasted for nearly two months, and was possibly the second most famous hiatus in Homestuck's history. The Cascade hiatus, the most famous, had been for the EOA5 animation to be created, the Megapause for work on the game. The Gigapause? The Gigapause is Homestuck's death sentence.

It occurs to you, as you read Andrew's news, the Gigapause will last until he completes Homestuck and puts it online. Then Homestuck will be over.

Forever.

You had known the end was coming- everybody did, and 2013 had been the year that he had said it would end in. But as the months turned by, and October rolled around, and the Gigapause, it occured to you: Two and a half months at most. Two and a half months before the webcomic that dominates your subconscious will end.

Forever.

With the Megapause, you just wanted it to be over.

With the Gigapause? You never want it to end.

You shut the laptop, Andrew's words repeating over and over in your head. "Hiatus. Complete. Mass update. Over."

Your laptop continues to run for a moment, then, it goes silent. Just as Homestuck will one day be like- a mass of information, then after it's ended, a slowly disappearing fandom, until there's nothing left.

The October crickets chirp outside your window. The night is dark.

And Homestuck is ending.
