"What are you doing here?"

Those were the first words to leave Dana's mouth when she opened the door the next afternoon. The beginning of her day had been spent lazing around her room and having a tense discussion with her grandmother about the hunters who had arrived in Mystic Falls. What she hadn't expected was to find Kol at her doorstep.

"You're coming with me," he said simply.

Dana's brows scrunched together. "Seriously? Why?"

"Because I said so," Kol snarled, reaching out as if to grab her, but encountering the barrier that separated the two vampires from each other.

Dana nearly smirked. Without her grandmother's invitation there was no way he was getting into this house. Still, she could tell he obviously was not in the best of moods by the way he was acting. It was even in the way he was standing, rigid and tense, and the way his eyes darted around almost like he was looking for something to kill.

"Fine, let me grab my shoes," She murmured before disappearing upstairs for a few brief seconds.

Once she returned she was wearing a pair of tan riding boots over the skinny jeans she'd been lounging about in. She exited the house, strolling right by the agitated Kol. The first thing she noticed was that he hadn't drove his car, meaning he'd ran to her house.

"Well, lead the way Mr. Mikaelson."

And so he did.

It was constantly amazing Dana how much faster the Original vampire moved. Granted, he had nearly a thousand years on her. Dana had to push herself just to keep up with him as they moved through the woods, flitting around trees until they reached their destination.
Which just so happened to be the Mikaelson manor.

Dana didn't necessarily have a problem with this. Other than the fact that there was the probability of his siblings being home this time, and she wasn't sure how well she'd do meeting the rest of his family. Especially if they were anything like Kol.

She had sort of met Rebekah, but that had been a very brief interaction. She'd heard some things about the blonde Original from Matt, but not enough to get by on what the girl could possibly be like.

Dana slowed when they came to the front door of the house. She trailed after Kol through the front door, briefly pausing to pull the door shut. Then she continued after the Original, gazing around as she had last time to admire the grandeur of the mansion.

Just as she was about to ask what she was doing here she heard voices coming from another room.

"I am not quite understanding what this clan of hunters as to do with us," a voice said quietly, one Dana obviously didn't recognize.

"Nothing really, but our dearest Elijah pulled quite the trick on them two years ago," another voice mused, this one more accented than the former.

That was when the owner's of the voices came into view. The first person she spotted was the gorgeous blonde man who had an almost aristocratic look about him. There was a sly smile playing on his lips as he stared across at the room at an older looking man. Both their heads turned when Kol and Dana entered the room, and the blonde man's smile only widened at the sight of them.

"Well would you look here, it seems our little brother brought his newest fixation along with him."

Dana pinned a deadly glare on the blonde man. However, it didn't seem to phase him. Instead he laughed at her. Laughed as if her annoyance was something to be found amusing.

"Oh please Nik, if you want to talk about fixations why don't we talk about that pretty, blonde vampire of yours," Kol returned, smirking when the amused look was wiped clean from 'Nik's' face.

He looked as if he were about to respond to the younger Original, but before he could the other man interrupted him. "You will have to excuse them. They're constantly finding something to quarrel about. I am Finn, it's a pleasure to meet you Dana."

Dana turned her attention to the man who had spoken, Finn. She was sure he didn't actually find it a pleasure to meet her, but she gave him points for trying. The Original could care less about her. Still she returned the pleasantries.

"It's nothing, really. I grew up with two brothers, so I know how it goes." That wasn't too far from the truth. She'd grown up with Daniel and Zack, both of who had often had their own arguments over petty things. She didn't think their arguments would go as far as Kol's did with his brother, but that was beyond the point.

Then she turned to the blonde vampire and said, "You must be Klaus. I've heard quite a bit about you."

"I can only assume it's been nothing but good things." Klaus smiled charmingly, which earned himself a low growl from his younger brother who seemed displeased with the entire situation in the first place.

"Can we just get this over with?"

"Patience brother," Klaus mused with a smirk, "we're still waiting for Elijah and Rebekah to arrive."

That was how Dana found herself sitting on a comfortable and particularly expensive looking couch next to an irate Kol. She occasionally glanced over at him. He was bent over, his elbows resting on his knees while his hands were twined together. He looked so young when compared to his elder brothers, but she knew he couldn't have been but twenty or twenty one when he'd become a vampire.

She cast her gaze around the room, eying Klaus who was tipping back a glass of what smelled suspiciously like brandy. Finn was toying with a cell phone, uncertainly clearly etched in the features of his older face. The scene was just all she needed to wonder what she was doing here.

Moments later two other vampires walked into the room. Rebekah she easily recognized, decked out in a red blazer with a black and white striped shirt underneath, accompanied by a pair of jet black skinny jeans. Not the mention the incredibly high heels she had donned on her feet.

However, it was the other vampire who caught her attention. He was easily the oldest and he was dressed to the nines in the expensive suit he wore. Dana straightened up at the sight of him, eyes widening. The resemblance between this elder sibling and Kol was incredible. The man was what Dana could see Kol looking like if he were a few older than his current age.

"Elijah, Bekah. How wonderful of you to finally join us," Klaus commented, not relinquishing the glass of brandy he held in his long, artists fingers.

"What is this about?" Elijah asked.

Rebekah collapsed on the loveseat opposite of Kol and Dana, her eyes sliding past Dana as if she didn't even see the younger vampire there. Elijah caught sight of the girl though, and his eyes narrowed significantly.

"Well brother, Kol here has brought it to our attention that the Chasseur clan has arrived in Mystic Falls," Klaus explained, a smug smile slowly curling his lips.

That explained why Dana was here.

Almost.

Elijah's eyes never left Dana, something that unnerved her to no end. She didn't like the way he was looking at her, not at all. Klaus's earlier words from before her and Kol had walked in were suddenly making sense now.

"What does this have to do with us though? Do you not think we can't take care of a few pesky hunters?" Rebekah asked irately, a scowl decorating her pretty face.

"I never said that," Kol snapped, "I can deal with them on my own."

Dana saw the look that flashed through Elijah's eyes, one that told her he thought otherwise. "Um…" Dana finally spoke, "Why am I here?"

Kol immediately pinned a look on her. She almost shied away from him, knowing that he was already in an annoyed mood. "Because, you're a Chasseur, or have you forgotten?"

Dana winced. "No. I haven't, but I-"

"Because you know them better than any of us," Elijah offered, "who's better to provide us with the intel we'll need if they prove to be a problem."
Dana sank back into the couch, hating the way that Elijah so easily came up with a solution as to why exactly she was here. It wasn't fair that he made sense. Then again, according to Zack, things had changed since she'd last seen her family.

There was a question Dana was wanting to ask the eldest sibling. Something that had bothered her from the moment he had walked into the room. But she knew now wasn't the time. Not yet.

"Okay, what do you want to know?"

"Lets start with how many there are."

"Nine total, unless they've added since I left," Dana said quickly before naming off the names of her siblings, parents, cousins, and aunt and uncle that had traveled together for as long as she could remember. Once that was over with she went on to explain the basics of how the Chasseur family worked.

When hunting down a supernatural they went out in pairs. She could name off the most likely pairs. Her parents, her aunt and uncle, Zack and Valerie, Galen and Nikki. As for Daniel, she couldn't imagine who he would be with now. They were to kill without hesitation unless they had direct orders from her parents, James and Lauren, to bring a certain target in.

The only time they did that was when they were planning to torture the supernatural, or they were trying to get information out of them that they needed. Dana could recall particular methods they'd used when she had still been human, and she could hardly imagine what it would be like being put through such torture.

"So we basically have a bunch of psychotic hunters who think they're high and mighty on our hands?" Rebekah retorted, obviously not impressed with anything Dana had said. "Nothing we should even bother ourselves with, if you ask me."

"Kol has a few bones to pick with the Chasseur family," Klaus supplied with a wicked smile, "And let's not forget what our dearest 'Lijah did to piss them off."

Elijah slid his hands into the pockets of his slacks. "At the time they had taken something of mine."

Realization dawned on Dana as soon as the words left her mouth. She lifted her head to stare at Elijah as the pieces all clicked together. She had obviously recognized him, but she was receiving an answer to the question she'd secretly been wanting to ask.

"So what better way to get back at them than to change one of their own into something they loathed?" Kol's head snapped sideways to stare at the vampire girl, followed by Klaus who was also looking at the girl with a bemused expression.

"Precisely, at the time it seemed the best solution. You were so eager." Elijah's gaze landed on Dana, an apologetic look hiding within his eyes, "I owe you my deepest apologies, for it appears you ended up in the one place you weren't meant to be."

Which was with the Original family. Elijah had never expected to see the young vampire girl ever again. He had assumed she would go off and either be hunted down by her family, or survive and flourish as the vampire she had so desperately wanted to be. As it turned out she had gone against his expectations unknowingly and ended up tangled in the mess that was the Mikaelson family.

Elijah found it a surprise that the girl had lasted as long as she had.

Then again, it was only her first time meeting the rest of his siblings asides from Kol and Rebekah. If she were get off on the wrong foot with Klaus there was no telling what would happen. Or Rebekah for that matter.

"Don't apologize," Dana finally said, "I wouldn't change a single thing."

It nearly amazed Elijah that Dana was so confident in her vampirism, how easily she accepted it. She was fitted to the life of the vampire, a hunter by nature just because of the way she was raised. So perhaps her confidence was only natural.

"I should go," the youngest vampire said abruptly.

Dana fled the room before any of the Originals could even blink. She ran through the woods the way she had originally come with Kol. Her feet easily avoided roots and any stray object that could have easily tripped her if she had been human.

Her mind was racing. Never would she have imagined it would have been an Original that would have turned her. At the time she had known he had been older, she could tell by the way he spoke. But she never would have guessed. She hadn't even known anything about the Originals, not until she'd arrived in Mystic Falls.

A/N ~ So yes, Dana was changed out of spite. Her willingness to become a vampire (as shown by her begging said vampire to change her) gave Elijah the perfect opportunity to get back at the Chasseur's for taking something (someone...) of his. Not because he 'liked her' or 'felt bad for her' but because he wanted to piss some people off and get revenge. *ahem* And I feel like he would be sorry for changing her only to find out that she landed herself right in the middle of the Mikaelson family xD

Plus. C'mon. I feel like Dana is torn between wanting to revel in the life of a vampire like Kol (or maybe more accurately, Damon) does, and wanting to stick to what her grandmother/parents taught her growing up. Let me know how well I'm doing showing that. Because I'm not too sure right now.

As for the Originals, how did I do? xD

With the whole mother-wanting-to-kill-them thing...I may just skip over that. *Ahem* Anyway.

Also, not sure how updates will be. I'm back at college (granted my classes for today were cancelled due to weather) and soon I'm going to be rushing for a sorority (whoop! Sigma Phi Lambda just for anyone who may possibly care xD) so I figure I'm going to have a fairly tight schedule this semester. I also need a job. Oh. The joys of being a broke college student. Plus I'm aiming for straight A's this semester!

P.S. I will also start replying to reviews via PM. It'll be much easier!
