"You're not going anywhere."

"Gran, I don't have a choice. If I don't go Kol will kill me. Literally." that was Dana's argument. She figured it was good enough to get out of the house and to the Council meeting.

"Well you should know better than to get mixed up with the damned Original family," Stacey argued back, rolling her eyes at her granddaughter.

Dana pursed her lips, crossing her arms and staring at her grandmother crossly. "I'm going to be surrounded by other vampires, five of who are Originals, and a witch. I think I'll be safe."

"Safe is just a pretense in this town."

"I'm going whether you like it or not."

Stacey eyed her granddaughter at this. She was so much like her grandfather had been. More stubborn than was good for her. Perhaps that was what made it so hard for Stacey to allow the only grandchild she held contact with. The only one who had ever made it known that she needed help from Stacey in the first place.

"Fine, go. But be careful, and make sure to-"

"Carry a weapon just in case. I know Gran. I ran with hunters for nearly nineteen years of my life." Still, Dana couldn't help the smile that graced her lips almost immediately at her grandmother's words. It was the first time Stacey wasn't proving to make things more complicated than they should be, and Dana was really appreciating it.

Later that day Dana slipped in a teal dress that barely grazed her knees and hugged her upper body, soft to the touch when it brushed against her bare skin of her legs. After curling her hair and pinning strands of it back, and clasping a silver necklace around her throat, she was ready to go.

Before she left the house she grabbed a dagger, one she always kept with her out of habit. She strapped it to her thigh, pulling the strap that held it in place tight so there was little chance of it slipping. Then she was ready to go, rushing downstairs only to find her grandmother waiting by the door.

"I expect you to behave tonight," Stacey said as soon as Dana reached her.

"I will Gran," Dana laid a hand on the old woman's shoulder, giving her a smile. Her heartbeat was soft and steady, but sounding as if it were almost…worn out. Like it had taken too much.

Stacey nodded, right as the doorbell rang. Dana pulled it open only to find Kol standing there, looking as bored as ever, and dressed in an expensive looking tux with his hair styled back. A smile spread across his face at the sight of the older woman standing by Dana's side, one that Dana could tell was more of sly smile than a friendly one.

"Ms. Quinby I assume? It's a pleasure to meet you."

Stacey glared at Kol, "Can't say the same for you. Just get my granddaughter back in one piece."

At that Stacey turned on her heels and hobbled away, leaving Kol and Dana by themselves. Dana raised an eyebrow at Kol. She assumed he had been hoping her grandmother would have invited him inside, but there was no way Stacey would ever speak the words he needed.

She stepped outside, casting her eyes around the yard almost warily. "You look nice," she complimented Kol casually, heading towards the car he drove without hesitation.

"I'm quite aware," he retorted, speeding over to hold the door open for her, "You clean up rather nicely yourself."

She could have sworn he added something about it being better than what she normally wore. Instead of commenting or smarting off she kept her lips shut as she swung into the passenger side, flitting over to the driver's side in just a few seconds.

"Why do I have to come to this thing again?" Dana asked when they pulled away from her grandmother's home.

"Well darling, your family will be there. Don't you suppose they'll be positively fuming to see their daughter hanging with a bunch of vampire?" Kol seemed rather smug. She could tell by the way he smirked, and the way that look of arrogance danced in his eyes.

"Maybe so. But won't that give them more reason to kill me? And the rest of you?"

Kol shrugged his shoulders, obviously not wanting to answer her question. "It's not like they can kill me anyway."

Dana didn't mention that they could kill her. That was something they all knew already. Any vampire, witch, doppleganger, or werewolf there would die if the Chasseur's were to pull anything. That's what bothered Dana the most about them attending the council meeting.
With the way Kol drove it didn't take them long to reach his home. On the way there Kol mentioned he'd only recently learned how to drive after his brother endangered him, and Dana was sure if he hadn't been a vampire this would have terrified her. Of course, even with him being an Original it was a pretty scary thought that he'd only just learned how to drive.

Dana climbed out of the car. She walked around to Kol's side, following him into the house. There were already council members here, standing around and chatting about things Dana could care less about. There were a few people bothering to dance along to the music playing in the background, but Dana was still paying little attention to such small things.

Instead, she was too busy seeking out her family.

First she spotted Damon and Stefan. Then there was Caroline and Bonnie. Followed by an incredibly chipper Klaus shamelessly flirting with the blonde vampire youth who looked far beyond unimpressed. Rebekah was standing around with Elijah, looking positively bored as he chatted with a council member who was looking a bit nervous (actually his heart was beating rather rapidly, something Elijah seemed to notice by the amused smile on his lips).

Far off in a corner by himself, she spotted her cousin Galen. Then she found Zach and her parents who were speaking to Mayor Lockwood. Her Aunt Kyra and Uncle Seth were sipping on champagne (that they'd probably spiked with vervain). Not matter how much vervain that family digested, it never stopped them from taking extra precautions. Finally as her eyes roamed around the room, she spotted Daniel.

He was leaning against the wall, arms folded across his chest and dressed in a tux she knew he probably hated. Standing beside him was a much smaller girl, only fifteen years of age, dressed in a pink sundress that clashed with her fiery red hair. Her vibrant green eyes were roaming the room, curious if more than anything. Then again, their younger sister had always been the curious one.
Not in the way that Dana had been curious, just…curious.

But what really struck Dana was the girl also by Daniel's side. She was shorter than Dana, but taller than Valerie, with flowing brunette hair and gray eyes.

Kol followed Dana's gaze, catching sight of the trio standing together. His eyes narrowed for a moment at them, especially eyeing the brunette girl that Dana clearly didn't recognize.

Then he had a hand tightly placed on Dana's hip, his free hand capturing hers. He yanked her forward into a waltz that she really didn't know how to dance, but followed along the best she could. Dana narrowed her eyes at Kol, eyes that he noticed were more a blue than a gray.

"What's with them?" Kol questioned as he spun Dana around.

"Twin brother who hates me, the red head is my little sister, and I have no idea who the other girl is," Dana explained, a small frown decorating her lips as they continued to dance around the room.

That was when Daniel saw them.

The look that registered on his face was enough to tell Dana that he had caught sight of the two vampires. Something torn between loathing and disgust. But before she knew it his face was a complete mask of no emotion. He didn't even have to nudge Valerie for her to catch sight of Dana, and when she did, curiosity flashed across her face.

Dana had decided long ago that Val was the gentle soul of the Chasseur family. Despite being notorious hunters, Val had never really taken part in it. While it was tradition for every Chasseur to kill their first supernatural, Val had taken to raising vegetation that would suit the hunters in their hunts. For example, vervain.

Kol muttered something under his breath before releasing Dana, promptly leaving the younger vampire all by herself. She felt vaguely annoyed by this, but instead moved on to find someone to talk to. She headed for Elijah, taking him as the most civilized (granted she didn't really know many other people) of the supernaturals walking about.

He raised an eyebrow when she approached, and the council member he'd been talking to scattered when the Originals attention had been averted elsewhere.

"I really don't want to be here," She murmured, standing firmly by Elijah's side while surveying the room.

"Then why, may I ask, are you here?"

"Kol. Insisted I come. And he's been annoyed here lately, which isn't a good combination. Especially if I want to survive," Dana mused, a small smile playing on her lips.

Why on earth the girl was smiling about the prospect of Kol killing her, Elijah had no idea. He wondered for a moment just what sort of vampire he'd created when he had turned Dana into a vampire. From what Kol told him, which wasn't much, the girl had no problem killing. But even know as he watched her eying a trio of humans, two he clearly recognized as her siblings, he knew there was no way she could kill them.

Perhaps that was why she was okay with Kol killing them.

Kol would obviously feel no guilt massacring the Chasseur clan. Long ago they had taken an entire coven of witches out he'd been running with at the time. He'd been less than pleased with their deaths, feeling the need to end the hunters who had murdered them. Even if they were just descendants of those who had originally committed the act.

"You must be Elijah."

Dana tensed at the new voice.

Lauren Chasseur was a truly beautiful woman. She had long, shiny blonde hair that had a delicate wave to it and eyes a startling blue. She was tall and willowy, graceful and lethal if given a weapon. She was giving the Original vampire a pearly white smile, a glass of champagne in one hand.

"I am."

"I'm Lauren Chasseur, it's an absolute pleasure to meet you Mr. Mikaelson." Lauren tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, showing off a pair of diamond earring studs she wore.

"I'm quite aware of who you are Mrs. Chasseur, as I'm sure you're aware of who I am." Elijah stared the woman in the eye, as she was only an inch or so shorter than him.

The utter fakeness of Lauren's expression completely washed from her face at his words. She was no longer the bubbly, doting wife of James Chasseur, a role she often played when in public, but a deadly hunter with a loathing of anything supernatural.
Including her daughter.

"Why yes, I am very aware." Lauren's eyes slid over to Dana who was standing by Elijah's side still, watching the older woman warily, "It appears my daughter is fraternizing with the Originals now. How pathetic of you my dear. If you had any sort of honor you would have ended your life the very moment you were changed."

Dana's eyes narrowed. Her hands tightened into fists. Her mother was obviously trying to rile the young vampire up, possibly assuming that she had little control over herself. What Lauren was obviously forgetting though was that Dana had been raised to have control over herself, no matter what the situation.

Instead of responding Dana said not a word. She was secretly resisting the urge to grab a human and bury her fangs in their throat, right in front of Lauren, but knew better than to do that here.

Not now at least.

"Well, well, well. Look what managed to drag herself out." That was Damon's voice as he walked right up to the interesting trio. Two vampires, one an Original, and a hunter. Now joining by a vampire Lauren clearly recognized from those two or three years ago.

"Damon Salvatore," Lauren nearly purred, a wicked smile curling her lips upwards.

"Ah, Lauren! Long time no see! Granted, there wouldn't be much seeing if your lovely daughter here wouldn't have helped me escape those years ago," Damon bragged, smirking as he slung his arm over Dana's shoulders.

Lauren cut her eyes at Dana, the expression on her face hardening. "Why am I not surprised?"

Fortunately before Dana could respond, the Council decided to call members to a separate room for their meeting. That left Dana alone with few people left to linger about. There was Caroline and Bonnie, along with Daniel, Val, and the brunette girl she didn't know. Kol, Rebekah, and Klaus had been disappeared into the room with the rest of the Council.

Which was how Dana found herself walking towards Bonnie and Caroline.

"What are you two doing here?"

"Stefan figured it would be better to have a little vampire-witch reinforcement around in case anything went wrong," Caroline explained with a bright smile.

Dana had met Caroline once, she had been chatting with Matt one evening when Dana had come around for her daily visit. She had decided then that vampirism obviously suited the girl and she had a fine handle over herself.

"And apparently they weren't the only ones," Bonnie commented, her gaze traveling across the room.

Dana followed the direction Bonnie was looking, only to spot the brunette girl from earlier. "Wait, what do you mean?"

"She's a witch," Bonnie explained.

That made sense in a way. Dana had no reason to doubt Bonnie. She was, after all, a witch herself, and witches could sense others of their kind. What Dana was questioning was why on earth a witch would be traveling with her family. They hated witches, almost as much as they hated vampires. Those were the two supernaturals they despised more than any.

Yet here they were, one traveling around with them.

Ta-da! Chapter 13. Whoo! XD I would have had this up sooner, but I've been fairly busy. My classes are all great though (minus my writing class because my professor has us writing a 3000-3500 word paper over something we're an 'expert' on). French is awesome. Elementary French mind you. Comment allez vous? (Points to whoever can guess that AND respond in French without a translator xD) Oral comm is cool but I'm dreading speaking in front of peeps. My bio professor is convinced he's Batman. And psych is pretty cool too. How's everyone else's schooling going? :D

Fun Fact: Dana's family (the Chasseur's) originate from France. And 'Chasseur' is 'hunter' in French.

I also want to develop a relationship between Elijah and Dana. Like. I feel almost like Dana would try and...please Elijah? Act differently around him, maybe? Idk yo xD

Btw. Let us take a moment and hope that I see the adorable boy I met on campus Wednesday again. I really hope I do. ;D

Anyway. I'm going to do my best updating and writing. I can't make any promises it'll be quick, BUT I'm gonna do it. Anything you guys would like to see/see more of?
