For Kurt, it felt like Blaine was on the phone for hours when actually he was only gone for a few minutes. Kurt began pacing the small back and forth between the chairs in the living room, flicking through various different issues of vogue he had laid in a neat pile on the coffee table and looking through all the music channels and making a disgusted face whenever he found a music video or song he didn't like.
"Enjoying yourself?" Kurt turned around and saw Blaine standing in the doorway, his back pressed against the door frame and a large, cocky smirk on his face.
"How long have you been there?" Kurt tilted his head to the side and asked curiously. All Blaine could see in Kurt at this point was innocence, pure innocence and this made Blaine smile.
"Long enough to see you practically throw up over Miley Cyrus… But I agree, who would dress like that? And she should really shove that tongue of hers back into her mouth" Blaine agreed as he strolled over to Kurt and sat next to him on the sofa, his arm draped over the other boy's shoulders.
"I know right!" Kurt sighed and unintentionally rested his head on Blaine's shoulder. For a few seconds everything seemed perfect until Kurt realized what he had done, his head shot up quickly and both boys felt something missing, like a large part of each other had disappeared. The next few minutes between the boys were silent, but not uncomfortable silence; they watched TV, both boys in a little world of their own.
"Kurt…" Blaine whispered, his head facing Kurt's "…I have one more question." The other boy nodded, giving Blaine permission to ask. "You've been a vampire for 10 years, what are you still doing in school?"
"None of us graduated after we transformed, it's only now that we realize we need some form of work so we don't become too bored and start violently attacking people… and yes, that has happened before" Kurt smiled softly at the other boy and wrapped his fingers slowly around the other boys right hand, stroking the back with his thumb "But I'll save that story for another day, so what did your mum want?"
"Just to check up on me, she heard about the attack near your house and was worrying a bit, only a bit though 'cause she knows I'm capable of looking after myself…" Blaine smiled and raised his hand to his lips, bringing Kurt's hand with it and tenderly placed his lips on the back, kissing him gently and meaningful.
"I really admire you Blaine… I couldn't have come to school three weeks after my transition… How have you managed it?" Kurt's thoughts began to travel back ten years ago, when Kurt Hummel- newly transformed vampire had the horrible quest of fitting in with humans again…
It was a month after the car crash, and Kurt had finally decided to return to school after that tragic event. About 90% of the school had heard about the crash and Kurt knew about the risks. He was bound to get the odd looks in the corridors, the whispers behind his back, he was used to those anyway after being bullied for so long, what he wasn't ready for however- was the questions he was bound to receive about the crash. How it felt to be in a car crash, he began questioning his answer, what does he say? That he died in the crash? That he felt his heart stop and his life end for a few minutes before he awoke again in hospital, gasping for air and craving blood before biting the neck of the next nurse who had been paid to essentially be his living blood bag?
Finally, it came up to the horrible moment. Kurt felt like Moses as he walked down that corridor, the large see of people parted as he made his way down towards his class. It was a lot different to how Kurt imagined it to be- all of a sudden he felt overwhelmed with his new found power. People had no idea that he was even a vampire but yet, they were treating him like he was a king…
"To be honest with you Kurt, I don't know…" Kurt was brought back into the present by Blaine's wonderful and calm voice, Kurt loved to reminisce about his vampire days but Blaine was new and exciting to him, he didn't mind missing out on reliving the old times when Blaine was there with him. "Oh I forgot to mention, I have to go- my dad wants me home." A small element of sadness appeared on Kurt's face as those beautifully pronounced words flowed from the equally beautiful boy in front of him, but Kurt understood completely why Blaine had to go. Being a new vampire, Blaine was still not used to his new abilities and life- he was more vulnerable than anyone.
"Okay…" Kurt took a step forward and looped his arms around Blaine's neck and as if on cue, Blaine's hands slid up and found their way onto his waist. "…What does this make us? I really enjoyed our date…"
"Well, I don't know... I enjoyed our date too, and I really like you Kurt. How about- we have another date and see if that goes well? And if it does… well you kind of know the rest…" He winked at Kurt and began drawing small patterns on his waist, earning a small sigh from Kurt before he slid his hands away and began to walk towards the door. "I'll see on Monday then, good bye…" He grinned and winked at Kurt again for a final time as he closed the front door behind himself.
Even though it had only been a few seconds since he had last seen Blaine, he still missed him terribly. He fell back onto the sofa and closed his eyes, deciding to dive back into the memories from his first day back to school as a vampire.
The final bell went off throughout the school telling the entire school that classes for the day were finally over, the bell was immediately followed by a loud, echoing collection of sighs from both teachers and students. Kurt however wanted to go to the rest room to freshen up before he went back home. As he stepped into the rest room he smelt a familiar scent that was probably the most dangerous thing right now to him- blood. The sweet scent of blood travelled up his nostrils and his eyes began to develop black veins underneath. He should have left the room straight away without any questions asked, but instead he let the animal inside him control his legs. A small boy who Kurt knew was in his year was stood in front of the sinks and mirrors with a small paper cut on his index finger, only a small droplet emerged from the fresh cut before Kurt's mouth was covering the boy's skin and his teeth and bitten in, blood began pouring from the kid's neck into Kurt's mouth and for a moment- Kurt felt like the monster had finally over taken him. His mouth pulled away from the kid's skin and Kurt covered his mouth as he watched the kid in front of him. Earlier that day, his dad had forced him to carry a first aid kit with him, he began covering the wounds up with the bandages, ignoring every temptation to carry on feeding from him until the wound was covered up completely. He bit into his wrist and forced the boy in front of him to drink until Kurt was satisfied that he was strong again.
"Hey" Kurt whispered when the boy in front of him was finally awake. "I want you to forget all about me, if anyone asks- a girl pulled you into the boy's restroom and began to get freaky… okay?" The boy in front of him nodded, his face was completely blank "Thank you, oh and one last thing before I go- what's your name?"
"Cooper, Cooper Anderson"
The realization hit Kurt hard after that, he was now falling head over heels for the Cooper Anderson's little brother… it should have bothered him more… but it didn't really bother him at all.
