Enjoy. I do not own these characters, I just like to play with them.
Then five months after Yana had first arrived, Eric called out from the ops room and everything changed.
"Guys, you need to get up here, now!" Eric's voice was on the verge of hysteria. They raced up the stairs, two at a time. When they entered, they saw a man walking along the street on the main screen "This was just sent to us anonymously. I've had no luck tracing it. Facial recognition says that he is," He paused, looking square at Callen and hoping like hell the man wouldn't shoot him for what he was about to say "Vasille Comscue."
"What?!" The word burst from Callen's lips at the same time as the other's. "Eric, is this live?" he asked as Comscue pulled out his phone and dialled as he went around a corner and out of view of the camera.
"Yes it is." The voice was Yana's as she pulled her phone from her pocket and answered it several moments after Vasille dialled. The team stood shocked as she spoke rapid Romani. Hetty had been teaching Callen the language, but he could not keep up with what she was saying. She hung up and asked "How much of that did you understand, Agent Callen?" Her voice dull, yet filled with fear, not looking at the team.
Before he could answer, Hetty spoke up from beside her "Everything."
The team was stunned as she pulled a gun from her back and levelled at Hetty. She knelt down next to the woman and never taking her eyes off the people in front of her, spoke quietly in Romani to her. Callen couldn't hear anything. Yana stopped speaking and finally looked at her. Hetty made a small nod and Yana ran from the room and the building.
"Hetty what was that about? I heard her call Vasille cousin." Callen asked. He didn't get an answer as the ops phone rang and Eric hit it without thinking.
"G, it's Sam." Several gun shots drowned out part of his next sentence "…swering your phone? I've just spotted a Comscue on Supulveda and …" More gunfire. "I need back up now!"
"Sam!" Callen called out as the line went dead. "Eric, track him now. Any way to find Talbot?" His voice was nothing more than a growl.
"Sorry, Callen, she steered clear of the cameras after leaving the mission, she's gone." Nell said.
"Shit." He raced out to his car, calling out "Find Sam." as he tore down the stairs.
Just as Deeks and Kensi were about to head out after Callen, Hetty called out to them. "Mr Deeks, Miss Blye, stop. This is something that Callen must do alone."
"But Sam's in trouble!"
"Mr Hannah is quite alright. Mr Callen needs to handle this on his own. Mr Beale, please locate Sam and relay his position to Mr Callen." Hetty clasped her hands in front of herself and sighed.
"Hetty, what did she say to you?" Kensi asked.
"What she has desperately wanted to tell someone for months. The truth."
Callen received the address that Sam was at and asked Kensi where they were. After being told that they had gotten caught up in an accident and that they were several minutes behind him, he raced into to house, hearing more shots. "Sam!" He called out as he came in the front door. He cleared left and right and saw his best friend crouched behind a couch. He fired off a couple of shots and pushed back the person shooting at Sam long enough for the big man to join Callen behind the doorframe.
"G, it's good to see you." Sam said as he lent back against the wall.
"You too, partner, what are you doing here, I thought you were in Connecticut?"
"We got bac…" He never finished his sentence.
Callen watched as his best friend, his brother fall with two bullets to the chest. He heard himself cry out his name. "SAM!" He turned in a heartbeat to face the person who had shot him to shoot them, to find it was Yana. His gun was grabbed and the wrist holding it punched hard enough to make him let go. The woman stepped back, holding both his and her own weapon.
"Move." She motioned with the gun to the back door of the house he and Sam had been lured to. Her British accent dripping with venom. He looked down at Sam one last time before heading out. He could hear the rest of the team over the earwig, crying out in disbelief. He went out the door into an alley behind the house. She made him keep walking until he was next to a van that was parked on the far side. "Stop." She said as the door opened and a man stepped out.
"Well done, cousin. Took you long enough." The man said as he gave the woman a one armed hug around the waist.
"He doesn't trust easily."
"No he does not. Time to finish him."
"Wait, who are you? I have a right to know who is killing me." Callen tried to buy just a little more time for the rest of his team. He was pretty sure it was pointless but he had to try.
"I am Vasille Comescu the last of the Comescu's, and this is my cousin, Yana Comscue." The man raised a weapon to Callen's head but was stopped by the woman.
"Please let me. I'm the one who has to put up with him for the past five months." At Vasille's nod, Yana raised her gun. "The last of the Callen's. Do you have any idea how hard it's been not to shoot you over the past few months."
"Why now?" Callen had trusted this women, they all had and look where it had gotten them.
"The timing was never right. Vasille was never in the country at the right moment, and there have been plenty of them over the last few weeks. But enough talk. Goodbye, G. Callen."
The team in ops watched from a traffic cam in horror as the woman they had trusted pulled the trigger. They stared at the screen as Callen fell backwards with a bullet to the head.
"Well done Yana. At last it is over. You are sure that he does not have any children?" Vasille turned to his cousin as she stepped clear of him, her gun raised at him. "Yana, what are you doing?"
"You honestly think I brought him here so you could finish this?" As she stepped back further, she heard the cries of horror from Callen's team turn to confusion over the earwig she had taken and knew what was happening. "I brought you here so he could." She tipped her head towards where Callen was suddenly standing, a gun pointed at Vasille.
Callen had felt the impact to his head and fell dazed. He lay still for a moment and as his eyes focused, he saw that he was looking at the front tyre of the van. And next to it was a gun. He heard Yana talking and realised that she had loaded fake rounds into her gun.
He grabbed the gun and stood, just as Yana nodded at him. As Vasille turned to him and raised his gun, Callen pulled the trigger.
As the last of the Comscue family fell he rounded on Yana. "What the hell is going on? Is Sam dead?"
"Put the gun down, G." Sam's voice from behind him as Yana pointed in the same direction.
Callen spun round to see for himself as his best friend came over to him. "Sam!" his face changed from happiness to confusion as he looked around, asking where Kensi and Deeks were.
"They are here in ops. Just before she left earlier, Miss Talbot asked that I keep them here." Hetty's voice suddenly came over the earwig.
"What is going on?" Callen asked Yana. She was talking on her phone in Romani. She closed it and looked at him. He could see the tears in her eyes.
"Not here. The boat shed. This time I will explain everything. I promise."
"Who are you?" Callen asked her.
"I'm your cousin."
Ok, so I can't count at the moment. There is another two after this one. All will be answered in the next chapter.
