...it has literally been a year and this is a short chapter and I am deeply, deeply sorry. I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but if you are, I'm here to continue it, and I do intend to complete this story. Thank you for your continued support, and for your patience. You guys are my favorites.
disclaimer: I don't own shit.
When I wake up I find that Jon is already gone on his morning run. There's a soft melody coming from downstairs, and I follow it to the kitchen.
"Hey, babe. What's up?" Jordan asks. He places a plate in front of me. "I made your favorite."
My stomach rumbles at the sight of blueberry waffles. "Jordan, have I ever mentioned that you are the perfect human being?"
He winks at me. "And you, honey, are my equal."
I grin at him, and use the edge of my fork to cut out a little triangle from the waffles. "These are great," I tell him.
"I'm glad," Jordan says. "Jon should be back soon. I've got to get going." Jordan kisses my forehead and leaves.
The blade of my machette shines. With Jon out for a run, I finally had the time to clean and sharpen my prized possession.
Jon walks past my door and does a double take. "Wait, Clary, you actually keep a machette under your bed? I thought you were kidding when you said that!"
I cock my head to the side. "Why would I joke about that?"
He shakes his head as he walks away, muttering: "This girl...she's going to kill someone."
I grin, though he can't even see me anymore. Of course I am going to kill someone.
I'm about to continue making my machette shine when my phone buzzes.
Jace: Are we still on for today, Bo-Bina?
Clary: You betcha, Baby Girl!
Jace: I'm not a girl...
Clary: And I am not a Bo-Bina. Whatever that is.
Jace: You're a Bo-Bina for sure.
Clary: Then you are my Baby Girl.
Jace: Come to Baby Girl's house.
Clary: Bo-Bina out.
I slide my phone into my pocket and head over to the Lightwood's house. As usual, I enter without knocking on the door, and find Alec sitting on the couch watching Ellen. Of course.
"Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo!" I call out as I pass by him, headed up the stairs.
"Hello, Clary!" Alec yells after me.
Jace is still in his pajamas. At 2 PM. He is my spirit animal 73% of the time.
"Good morning," he says.
"Good afternoon," I retort.
He smiles. "That too." Then we lapse into silence for several awkward moments. "Are we going to talk about this?"
I look down at my feet. "Do we need to?"
Jace nods. "It still feels unresolved, doesn't it?"
"What's unresolved about this?" I ask. "You told me you were in love with me, and I slept with Jonathan."
I regret the words instantly. I swear that I can hear his heart breaking, and it is all my fault. I am the scum of the Earth
"You slept with Jonathan?"
I nod, guilt eating me away from the inside out. "I shouldn't have told you that."
Jace pushes his golden hair back, looking all kinds of distressed. "No, it's fine."
"Jace—"
"I just have one request for you."
My heart sinks when I hear the desperation and sadness in his voice. "Anything," I reply.
"I'll let you out of the bet," he tells me. "On one condition."
Our eyes lock, and my heart leaps up into my throat. "What do you want me to do?"
"Kiss me, Clary."
I am the actual scum of the Earth for ending the chapter here, but I promise not to take another year to update...
