Chapter 66 Cliff Hanger

Sesshoumaru snapped his head around and briefly glimpsed radiant blue eyes looking into his before shimmering blue light enveloped him. All awareness of the world ceased instantly and Sesshoumaru froze motionless within a prison of cerulean light.

The surface of Sesshoumaru's iridescent prism rippled slightly as the foreigner reached into it to take hold of Tensaiga.

"The power of resurrection is the province of Gods and you are not one. I relieve you of something you were never meant to have."

A towering lupine form appeared on the foreigner's right, and posed a question about the Shining Hate.

A smile appeared on the foreigner's face as he considered his undead friend. "Oh, I believe I will keep it as a memento of my time with Wei. Besides, it is too dangerous to just leave lying around. "

The lupine companion posed another question.

"Kouga will be fine," the foreigner assured his companion as space twisted around them. Instantly they were no longer in Nanking and instead were in the center of the crater containing Kagome, who was cradled in the arms of another lupine form. "Alright, time to get moving. The Earth has been suffering long enough."

Author's Note: The chapter's title is "cliff hanger" for a reason. There is one final story to write and then I put down my fanfiction pen so to speak. I won't really focus on it until I am through with my MBA program though. At minimum that is a year away. There is one more section after this that deals more with Wei's origin. I couldn't include it as it interrupted narrative flow. I suppose it is appropriate to dedicate this story to the victims of Nanking. May you rest in peace.
