Catalina Boleyn

November 15th 1534

I could not believe what mama was saying it seemed like some sort of dream "what?" I questioned again just to make sure I heard correctly.

"Your betrothal with France is null and void, instead Lord Beaucourt shall marry Princess Margaret, Their Majesties are on there way to Hever as we speak" I nodded and hugged her tightly.

"I cannot help feeling so happy!" I laughed and papa slammed his fist against the wooden desk.

"You foolish girl!" He snapped and I drew back from mama with wide frightened eyes, I was in shock at what he has said. "This is a disgrace upon our family, you were publicly tossed aside! By a bastard no less! Who can I find to marry you now!" He snapped and I stared down at my feet the weight of his words heavy upon me.

"I am sorry papa" I whispered in shame.

"Thomas you need naught be so hard on her, she in only 14 after all" mama said in my defense.

"Christ! I shall have to ask Lord Devonshire if he has any acquaintances that are searching for a wife, I doubt I can get her a young husband like her sisters" tears filled my eyes.

"I do not wish to be married to an old man" I cried out in fear.

"Catalina hush" mama ordered quickly but it was too late.

"You do not have a God dam choice!…..wait, I believe I have an idea" he said his eyes brightening, "Catalina go back to your chambers" he ordered and my bottom lip trembled and Lady Middleton escorted me back. I did not wish to be married to a man far older then me, now I wish I could still marry Lord Beaucourt.

Thomas Boleyn, Prince of Spain, Duke of Wiltshire

"Thomas what you said was cruel" Katherine snapped once our daughter left the room but I was too busy grabbing parchment "are you even listening to me? Whom are you writing to?" She demanded angrily.

"Lord Oxford to propose a marriage between him and Catalina he is still not married or betrothed and this will surely patch things up from what happened between him and Cordelia" I knew she did not like the idea but I would not hear differently. Once I was done writing I called for a servant "bring this to Lord Oxford at once, tis urgent" I ordered and he nodded quickly leaving for Court.

"I do not like this Thomas" I told him and he pet my cheek.

"I knew you would not but that matters little now, I must do what is best for her" her eyes darted away "Catalina and I are postponing our trip to Blinking till after the King and Queen leave and I hear back from Lord Oxford" she nodded and left to tell our daughter. I sat back in my chair rubbing my head, this was the best course of action Catalina needed to be secure and finding her a new husband as soon as possible was just what needed to happen.

Gregory Cromwell, Earl of Oxford

I was at the Palace visiting with my father for a few weeks to talk about marriage he believed I should find a new wife as soon as possible to make up for the insult the slut did. How dare she marry a nobody over me? I was the Earl of Oxford and once my father died the Earl of Essex. "My Lords, a letter from the Duke of Wiltshire" surprisingly the letter was placed into my hands and I opened with my fathers prying eyes watching.

Lord Oxford,

My stepdaughters insult onto you bothers me greatly and I wish to make amends for her wrongdoings. My youngest daughter Lady Catalina Boleyn has been freed of her engagement to the Duke of Beaucourt and I offer her as a perfect match for Your Grace. She is but 14 now but I promise that she will make it to the alter.

Thomas Boleyn, Prince of Spain, Duke of Wiltshire

The letter was quick and to the point and I handed it to my father "what do you think?" I asked after a few moments.

"I believe His Grace is trying to hide the embarrassment of a bastard refusing his youngest" he said placing the letter down, "but that is no reason to disregard it, Lord Wiltshire is very powerful and his wife from Royalty and has wonderful connections" I let out a breath knowing what he wanted. "I have not seen Lady Catalina in sometime, when she is at Court her mother guards her from any male contact, I suggest you visit Hever Castle and look at the merchandise before you purchase it, her dowry is very nice indeed" I could not help but laugh.

"I believe you are right, saddle a horse for me, the best time is always the present" father nodded and I left to Hever to see just what exactly Lady Catalina looked like. I never paid much mind to the Duchess of Wiltshire's other children since it was only Cordelia I was to marry, but now it seemed plans have changed.

November 16th 1534

I had stopped for the night but made it to Hever by morning and was shown in as their family had breakfast "Lord Oxford, I am glad to came" His Grace said and everyone including the Duchess looked surprised. My eyes scanned the table curiously till I found two young blonde woman, I could easily tell which one was Lady Catalina she resembled much of the Boleyn side.

"Lord Wiltshire I was eager to learn more when I received your letter" I looked over the young woman with a hard gaze. She was petite her blonde hair down her shoulders with while milky skin. Her eyes were a clear blue like the Duchesses, her body was developing nicely and I could tell at once the size of her chest could easily fit comfortably in my palm. I knew her body would fill out more once she comes of age and has her first child, though she still looks like a young girl she had an exotic beauty about her. My father spoke to me of her mother, Lady Katherine, and when she was much younger her beauty was transfixing and made most men yearn with want. I could tell her daughter would be the same.

"Catalina come here" she stood up and cautiously walked over dipping into a low curtsy.

"My Lord" the Duchess stood up and went to her daughters side and I bowed my head in respect.

"Catalina, wife, you remember Gregory Cromwell Earl of Oxford?" Wiltshire asked and I could hear his other children and Their Royal Highnesses whispering.

"Yes I remember" Lady Wiltshire said.

"I remember papa" I could already tell she would be a docile wife, a sweet tempered thing. Just the type of wife I needed.

"Let us speak more in my study" Lord Wiltshire announced and Lady Catalina curtsied as we left and once she thought I could no longer see turned to her mother whispering quickly with nervous eyes.

"You seek a betrothalment" I announced on our way to his study.

"Yes, Lord Oxford I do" he did not seem to like have cordial talk and got straight to the point, I respected him for that.

"Her dowry is tempting but Lady Cordelia's was as well and we all know how that turned out" his lips pressed together in a thin line.

"I can assure you Catalina is not like her sister, she knows her place and would not disrespect her family in such a manner. I promise you when the day comes she will be at the alter willingly" I nodded and took a deep breath.

"Then I can agree to such a match" he nodded and had the papers drawn up.

Katherine Boleyn, Princess of Spain, Duchess of Wiltshire

"Mama what is taking so long?" Catalina begged nervously as we waited for Thomas and Lord Oxford to leave the study.

"I do not know! Now go play with your siblings I shall call upon you when I know something" she reluctantly left and I paced anxiously outside Thomas's door till it finally opened and Lord Oxford walked out along with Thomas.

"Your Grace" he said upon seeing me and bowed.

"Lord Oxford, I was wondering what was taking you so long in there" I asked glancing to Thomas, he would not make a decision like this without first consulting me.

"I was speaking with your husband about important matters My Lady" he obviously did not think much of woman.

"Will you stay? I shall have chambers made ready for you" Thomas asked him and he nodded.

"I shall, twas a long journey and I am tired I believe I shall rest now" he left and I quickly had one of my ladies bring him to a room far from my daughters.

"Thomas what have you done?" I demanded as he would not meet my eye.

"I have formally betrothed Catalina to him it is in writing and everything is worked out, upon her 16th birthday they shall marry and she will leave for Wolfhall" I could not believe what I was hearing.

"You…you sold off our daughter" I gasped in disbelief "she is unbetrothed for a day and you sell her to the first man with a title that strides in!" I snapped in rage.

"I did not sell her! Lord Oxford has great influence in the court and is well respected!" I could not believe any of this and tears started to swell in my eyes.

"She is my daughter as well! You cannot make decisions like that without letting me know! You only think of improving this families standing in Court" I sneered the ending and he grabbed my arms tightly as I tried to walk away.

"You will not disrespect me in front of everyone in the God dam castle" he hissed and I glanced around to look at all the servants looking at us wide-eyed. He pulled me so I was again looking at him "I did what is best though you shall not see it that way, they are my daughters as well and this would have ruined! He may be a bastard Katherine but the Duke of Beaucourt is the brother of King Henri" his voice rang with anger.

"She would never have been happy there anyway Thomas, you know that!" He studied me for a few moments before his eyes sparked with anger.

"I would not doubt you laid on you back and found a way to convince the King to find a way to break the betrothal" I gasped in disbelief at his words.

"I did nothing of the sort" I whimpered wrenching myself free from him, I felt so self conscious suddenly and wrapped my arms around myself.

"It makes no sense for him to break it!" I looked around and the servants dropped their gaze immediately.

"I do not know why he did Thomas" I wanted to walk back to our chambers but he grabbed my arms stopping me. "No love wait, I was out of line I am sorry" I bowed my face so I would not have to see him but he gently tipped my face back "forgive me Ma Cherie?" He asked petting my cheek adoringly.

"What you said was cruel" I whispered laying my cheek against his chest.

"Papa!" I heard Catalina cry from down the hall and we pulled away from each other "papa is it true! The servants are saying I am to marry Lord Oxford?" I took another step from Thomas as Catalina came to stand in front of us.

"Yes it is true" he said standing up a bit straighter.

"Why…he was to marry Cordelia…I do not-" he cut her off by grabbing her shoulder and shaking her a bit.

"Is nothing and no one good enough for you girl?" He snarled before stomping away she trembled in her spot and I quickly pulled her to me.

"Speak no more of your displeasure Catalina it will only anger him" I whispered petting the back of her head.

"What if I do not wished to be married at all?" She whimpered her words muffled for her face was buried in my neck.

"Do not speak like that, now come along" I wrapped an arm around her shoulders and lead her down the hallway, I was going to bring her back to my chambers when we were stopped.

"Lady Wiltshire, Lady Catalina" Lord Oxford said bowing before us.

"I thought you were going to rest Lord Oxford" he smiled standing back up.

"I could not close my eyes My Lady and instead decided to look at what beauty Hever Castle has to offer" he glanced to Catalina who hid behind my shyly.

"The gardens are lovely and my sons are outside I am sure they shall entertain you" Catalina took my hand.

"I was hoping to find Your Grace would go outside so we could speak more" I hesitated glancing towards my daughter.

"We shall be down shortly Lord Oxford we just need to fetch our cloaks" I knew Thomas would be mad if I refused his offer.

"My Lady" he bowed once more and left down to the gardens.

"Mama I do not wish to!" Catalina cried once he was out of earshot.

"Do it to appease your father love, he is in a bad enough mood as if and I know it will improve if you make some effort to get to know the Earl" she nodded but did not seem at all pleased about it. "Thank you mi amor" she nodded slumping her shoulders in annoyance, "Catalina you may be upset but you will behave accordingly! Stand straight and walk with dignity, you from a very noble and Royal line, never forget that" she nodded and we retrieved out cloaks going outside.

Once outside I found Thomas was there as well talking with the Earl as the boys played swords, I wished not for them to be outside seeing how they just got over their colds but Thomas believed it to be alright. "Is she really to marry him?" Isabella asked walking to after Catalina scurried off to join the game of tag her sisters and the Princesses were playing.

"Yes, your father has already betrothed her, children! Your lessons shall start soon do not get dirty" they all groaned in annoyance. Michelle ran forward and jumped into my arms in excitement "calm down little one" I laughed as she hugged around my neck tightly.

"Bella says that Tom is on his way home!" She said with a bright cheery smile.

"He is, but the King and Queen are arriving here as well" she frowned a bit.

"Does that mean they will have to leave?" She asked referring to the Royal children.

"Unfortunately sweetheart, but they are going to be with their mama and papa so do not be so upset" I would miss them as well but the worry of their constant safety did take its toll. My own children were hard enough to handle and though I loved them Edward, James, Cecily and Margaret added more stress to it.

"Well…I guess it is okay, will papa go back to Court?" She questioned and I pushed her hair out of her face.

"I do not know tis whatever papa decides" she nodded and wiggled free of my arms.

"Bella will you come play with us?" She asked, Isabella hardly took part in their games anymore and I understood she was a wife and mother and had no time for childish games.

"I could not possibly Michelle I am sorry, Sofia and Peter shall be waking now and I must go" Michelle was a little upset but got over it quickly returning to her game and I went to my husbands side. I was still very upset at him but would not show it in front of Lord Oxford I did not wish to anger him anymore.

"Love, where is Catalina?" Thomas asked as I appeared by his side.

"She is playing with the other girls" they both glanced over to the group of giggling squealing girls who had found a way to make the boys participate in their game.

"Tis no worry Lord Wiltshire, I heard you say their studies start soon and I do not wish to ruin her free time with her siblings and Their Highnesses" Lord Oxford said bowing his head.

"Tis of no trouble" Thomas said, Lady Middleton was gathering the children to bring them inside for their lesson when he stopped them, "Catalina come here twill only be a moment" she nodded and walked slowly over to us and curtsied.

"My Lord" she whispered standing back up straight by my side.

"Catalina as you know you have been formally betrothed to Lord Oxford" Thomas said watching for her reaction.

She took a deep breath and glanced to me "yes, I know papa" I was glad she said it in a small sweet voice but she did not meet her fathers eye as she spoke.

"Lady Catalina, tis is pleasure to speak with you but I would hate to cut into you lessons anymore then I have, shall we speak later?" He asked and she looked to her father who nodded.

"Yes, we may"

"Of course with a chaperon" Thomas added after seeing my look, Catalina looked a bit curious and confused she still did not understand the ways of men and women and Thomas wanted to keep it that way. I believed he wanted to keep out daughters as innocent as possible, he did not want them to be constantly thinking about their wedding night.

"Of course I would expect nothing less, if it makes Lady Wiltshire feel more comfortable she can be present" I knew he was trying to act as nice and respectful as possible to win me over, but it would take far more then that.

"Agreed" Thomas said and Catalina was sent back with Lady Middleton.

"I know the betrothal happened very quickly without Your Grace's knowledge but I want you to know it was not done in disrespect" I pursed my lips looking to Thomas.

"Tis quite alright, my husband did as he saw best" I knew that statement would make Thomas happy.

"Yes My Lady, but she is still your daughter after all" he bowed and left back to his rooms, I felt Thomas grab around my waist.

"Very good Ma Cherie" I pushed his arms away.

"I am still mad at you Thomas, leave me be for now" I walked back into the Castle and worked on some embroidery before saying afternoon prayers with the doors locked. It felt good to pray without be scared that Thomas will find me. After my prayers were finished I decided to check on the children during their studies to make sure they were paying attention.

"My Lady" Master Grindal said upon my entering the room, all the children sat up immediately as I swept passed their desks.

"What are they learning today?" I inquired taking a look down at James's paper.

"Latin Your Grace, though they are having a bit of trouble paying attention" I looked sternly down upon them and they could not meet my eyes.

"If you have any problems see me at once" he nodded and I went to the next room where Michelle was learning to write sentences, she was still so young and just started her studies last year with learning her letters and spelling, now she was working on grammar.

"Lady Wiltshire" Lady Middleton said standing up to curtsy but I waved my hand.

"How is she doing?" I asked softly.

"Much better today" Michelle had trouble concentrating so it made it much harder for her to learn.

"That is very good" I left not wanting to cause any unneeded distraction and instead decided to walk Triste. My little dog was a bundle of energy and barked at all the little birds before calming down to walk by my side.

November 17th 1534

Early in the morning we received news that the King and Queen were to arrive soon, I had all the rooms prepared and had the children woken and dressed in their best. Thomas sent a messenger to Lord Oxford's room to alert him and in less then an hour the Royal routine came into view. "Mama! Papa!" Margaret said upon seeing her parents and ran forward hugging them tightly.

"My angel I have missed you so much!" Queen Kathryn said hugging her daughter tightly and James ran forward to greet his mother as well. Edward and Cecily were more formal about it though I could tell they were happy to see them as well.

"Your Majesty" we said curtsying as they walked forward.

"None of that, how have my children been?" He asked glancing to Their Highnesses.

"They are quite well Your Majesty, though they have been neglecting their studies" Thomas told him as we walked into the Castle.

"We shall not stay long only tonight and tomorrow, I wish to return London as soon as possible" we took them into our parlor where Isabella was with Sofia and Peter. "Lady Isabella, your children look quite well" she curtsied lowly.

"Thank you, Your Majesty" she looked behind him and I knew she was searching for Lord Devonshire.

"Your husband and brother shall be here shortly, they were held up a few miles back when one of their horses broke its leg" I grew worried knowing many thieves roamed those roads and did not want them to get hurt. "Kathryn spend sometime with the children I must speak with Their Graces" the Queen nodded and lead them all out and Isabella went back to her rooms. "It was never my intention to break the betrothal between your daughter and the Duke of Beaucourt, I needed a new connection in France and King Henri brought it up a while back and I could ignore it no longer" I felt my heart constrict and tears swell in my eyes.

He needed a new connection in France because Mary was dead "tis of no problem Your Majesty, I have betrothed Catalina to Lord Oxford" he nodded and looked around.

"Very good, is Cordelia well?" He asked finally realizing she was not hear.

"She returned to Nunnington to have her things packed so she could be ready to leave to Spain, I hear you are allowing her to leave earlier then planned" my voice as ice cold and he glanced towards me for only a moment.

"Yes, it would do her some good Katherine, she is leaving next week I believe" I knew that, she wrote me a few days ago and I agreed that Thomas and I would be there to wish her farewell on her journey, the children were to go with Isabella to Chatsworth while Thomas and I decided to attend Court.

"Apparently, I would not know for sure since you change your mind so often without consideration for others" I hissed in annoyance.

"Katherine" Thomas snapped quietly.

"Tis alright I knew she would be hostile when it came to this subject" he took a step towards me and I held my ground not backing down. "I am King, not you or your husband! I can do as ever I please and will not be talked down to! She is my daughter as well and I said she could go, I wish to hear nothing more of it" Henry growled in growing annoyance.

"She may be your daughter but she is mine as well!" I cried passionately.

"And she is a grown woman! Not a child so I suggest you start treating her like one" he left the room slamming the door loudly as he went.

Tears formed in my eyes as I looked at the ground humiliated at the way Henry spoke to me, I knew Cordelia was a grown woman but she was still my daughter. "Katherine, enough arguing with the King" I nodded and he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

November, 21st 1534

I hated leaving my children but made it worse was today Cordelia was leaving for Spain "never fear mama I am going to be well" she promised hugging me tightly.

"Write often and give Elizabeth our love" she nodded and hugged me again.

"I am coming back mama, I swear upon it! And who knows, maybe when I come back I shall have a baby as well" I bit my lip trying to hold back tears, it was hard to hearing that my babies were growing up. "Oh please do not cry mama" she fussed hugging me again.

"Katherine, they need to go" Thomas said placing a hand on my shoulder, Cordelia and her husband had said goodbye to Henry and Kathryn already and we were the only ones at the port with them.

"Tis alright Lady Wiltshire, I promise to take care of her" I nodded to Charles and caressed my daughters cheek.

"I love you so much!" I kissed her once more and I felt my heart break as she kissed Thomas goodbye and got on the ship, it felt like I was sending Mary away again, her reassurance that I would see her again in a few months did nothing to help. She waved happily from the boat as it sailed away and I waved back forcing a happy smile till she left and Thomas pulled me into the carriage.

"You do not have to hide yourself from me" Thomas whispered as I tried my best not to cry, he pulled me close to him and I burst into tears "hush Ma Cherie" he kissed the top of my head as I turned into him .

Thomas Boleyn, Prince of Spain, Duke of Wiltshire

I hated seeing her like this, I had always dreaded the day our children would get older and start moving away, Isabella did not go far and I knew all our daughters would stay close. They were reliant of their mother for advice and guidance, but there were times like now they would leave. The boys would tend to their own lives and estates like Tom was doing but would live their own lives.

"I d-do not want to lose her!" Katherine sobbed and I hugged her tighter.

"You are not going to lose her love, she is just going to Spain for a few months, she needs this and you know it her marriage has been much stressed lately" their had been whispers around the Hever Castle staff that they fought often about everything and anything. Katherine did not respond just whimpered softly into my chest, it was not easy for me either, I had raised the girl like she were my own and it hurt to see her leaving off to Spain.

It took a few hours to reach the Palace and I helped a silent Katherine to our chambers and she changed her gown before we went out to speak with the other courtiers, Lord Oxford was at Court as well and was trying to earn Katherine's approval, I respected him for that. He was already betrothed to my daughter and did not need her mothers approval and yet he still sought after it.

"Mama!" Tom unexpectedly hugged Katherine and she jumped.

"Tom! You had us worried sick!" She snapped after looking him over to see if he was well.

"I am sorry mama I was sidetracked, did Cordelia get on the boat well?" She nodded sadly and he hugged her again.

"How was the procession?" I asked and he smiled.

"It was great! Though riding all the time got a bit boring after a while" he admitted and looked to mama, "where are the others?" He questioned speaking of his siblings.

"Chatsworth with Isabella, I did not want to bring them to Court" he glanced over to Lord Oxford.

"Is it true Catalina is now betrothed to Lord Oxford?" I raised my head a little higher.

"Yes, tis true" he nodded not giving away his opinion on the matter for Lord Oxford walked up and bowed.

"Lord Lincoln, Lord Wiltshire, Lady Wiltshire" he greeted.

"Lord Oxford tis a pleasure to see you again" Katherine said with a stiff cordial voice, she did not like anyone who was to take her children from her.

"The same, My Lady" he answered pleasantly ignoring her coldness.

"Excuse me but I wish to speak with the Queen" Katherine said quickly leaving, Tom glanced to me then his mother.

"Do not take it to offense Lord Oxford, in her eyes you are taking her daughter from her she was the same way with Lord Devonshire" he nodded curtly.

"I understand My Lord, tis her daughter after all" I knew I would have to speak to Katherine later, Lord Oxford may understand but her attitude is unacceptable and disrespectful, she may be of higher rank then him but he is to be her daughters husband.

Thomas Boleyn, Viscount of Lincoln

Lady Elizabeth was at court serving our Queen she was pretty to look at but nothing extraordinary she had dark black hair her eyes a dark brown. "My Lord" She said walking to my side, I took a deep breath and turned to her.

"Lady Elizabeth" I greeted kissing her hand.

"I hear you have given up your title as Duke of Pembroke" I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.

"Yes, instead I am to become Duke of Wiltshire after my father, I shall inherit Hever, Blinking and Dover Castle" she nodded twisting her fingers in her dress.

"I…my father says we are to be married at Hever Castle" she then stated trying to make conversation.

"We are, have no fear everything is to be arranged by my mother if you wish to be apart of those decisions you may speak with her, she is talking with the Queen right now" obviously dejected she nodded not knowing what else to do.

"I shall speak with her when I have time then…where are we to go after we are married?" I knew she wished to stay at Court to be closer to her family but that was not the way things worked.

"Wilton House, I believe you shall like it very much, if it pleases you I shall ask if my sisters wish to come as well so you may have company" she nodded eagerly..

"I shall like that very much My Lord, I am sorry I must go" she went back to the Queen's ladies standing quietly waiting for her orders.

"Papa" I said walking back to my father.

"Yes?" He asked, Lord Oxford has probably gone to speak with his father by now.

"I was wondering of my sisters and brothers would like to join Lady Elizabeth and I at Wilton House after our wedding?" He seemed a bit apprehensive.

"Tom you are going to be married, do you not want time alone with your wife?" HE questioned.

"Of course, but I shall go out during the days to hunt and other things she will need someone to accompany her during the day and it would be boring to go hunting by myself" he did not say anything for a bit obviously thinking it over. "I am going to have a child papa, I doubt my sisters shall inhibit that" he smiled and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Fine then, but you must ask them when they arrive for Christmastide" I agreed and mama came back over seeing that Lord Oxford was gone.

"What are you talking about?" She questioned.

"Tom has decided to bring the children to Wilton House with him after he marries, he wishes Lady Elizabeth have companions" I knew the moment papa said that she disagreed.

"What? No they are not going" she complained with wide angry eyes.

"Katherine, go back to our chambers at once!" Papa ordered in an angry voice.

"I-" she started.

"I said go!" He snapped again and she stood still for a moment glancing to me, she hated it when papa ordered her around it made her feel like a servant. Slowly she left back to her rooms and I kept my head bowed not wanting to get involved in their fight.

"I did not mean to cause a fight" I told him once she was gone.

"Tis not your fault son, your mother would have found some reason to be angry with me she is still upset over Catalina's betrothal to Lord Oxford" I still felt bad for what happened, I hated it when mama and papa fought.

Katherine Boleyn, Princess of Spain, Duchess of Wiltshire

I wanted to slap him for sending me off like that in front of our son! I sat alone in our chambers after an hour he came in his eyes immediately finding me but I refused to be the first one to speak. "Michelle shall stay in your care, the older ones shall go with Tom to Wilton" I still glared at him, I would not be able to see them till January for Tom's wedding, after but now he was sending them all to Wilton! "You and Michelle will go to Scotney, I am going with the King to Scotland to speak about the betrothalment of Princess Cecily" I swallowed hard, I did not want him to leave England.

"How long shall you be gone?" I asked in a small voice.

"A little over a month, you and Michelle will stay there and of course the other children may join you" I got up from my seat and hugged him tightly.

"I thought you retired from all this" I lay my cheek against his chest holding his jacket tightly as he wrapped his arms around me comfortingly.

"I did not retire Ma Cherie, the King just took away my title as Lord Privy Seal" he said his hand resting on the small of my back.

"I wish you would, I hate it when you leave" he tipped my face back and kissed me.

"I know that love and I bet other wives hate it when their husbands go but there is nothing we can go about it, it is not like the children are very little" I scowled at his words.

"Michelle is still very little! And she loves you very much!" He let out a laugh caressing my cheek.

"It is not like I am leaving forever Katherine and this is nothing like when the North broke out in rebellion, tis perfectly safe" he promised and I looked up into his eyes wanting to believe him.

"Cordelia just left, why must you leave me as well?" I asked and he pet my cheek lightly.

"We are not leaving till after January so do not worry about it" he kissed me again this time a little more aggressively I whimpered softly as he gently pushed me back towards our bed.

"Thomas it is the middle of the day" I whispered as he tripped me back on the bed.

"That has never stopped us before" he laughed climbing over me, I let out a soft gasp as he kissed my neck his hands slipping under my back and unlacing my gown.

"Why must you be so persistent?" I moaned as he pulled my brocade off removing my corset with it.

"Tis the only way I know to get what I want, and right now I want you" I was only in my chemise now and I pulled his jacket off and shirt up.

"Why must you always be so sure you will get what you want?" I asked kissing his bare muscular chest.

"Shall you say no?" He questioned with a smile sliding my chemise up my body then threw it to the ground.

"I have been thinking about it" I panted as he kissed the side of my ribcage slowly lowering them.

"Really? Maybe I should stop then" He said looking up from between my legs.

"No! Please do not" I begged closing my back and arching my body to him, I bit my lip as he teased me his strong hands holding my hips so they could not twitch as I wished them too. "Thomas" I groaned and he moved his kisses up my stomach, I whined softly as he undid his linen shorts quickly throwing them away.

"Hush my love" he whispered into my ear.

I wrapped my arms around his neck as he pushed inside me he groaned as my nails dug into his skin after a moment he kissed me passionately moving his hips into mine, it was not often we got alone time like this and I made sure to not let him rush to the end.

Isabella Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire

Lord Devonshire arrived back late last night and was spending the morning with my siblings and the twins, I sat holding Peter in my lap as Sofia was in her fathers arm giggling happily. "Why does mama and papa have to go?" Michelle asked and I looked over to her by the window, she was very sulky since they left and nothing could cheer her up.

"Because they are the Prince and Princess of Spain and the Duke and Duchess of Wiltshire they must spend sometime at Court" I told her for the 10th time that day but as always she never listened.

"Why could we not go with them?" She cried out in frustration.

"Papa does not wish you spending too much time at Court there are too many distractions and you all are already behind on your studies" I cast a glance around the room, they were studying all but Michelle that is.

"He used to let us go" that he did, but after what happened with Cordelia he has begun to keep them away from the influences of Court life. Cordelia ran off with Charles right under their noses and papa would not let that ever happen again especially now that Catalina is betrothed to Lord Oxford.

"Times change now study your letters or I shall write mama that you are misbehaving!" Her eyes went wide and she quickly did as she was told.

"Let me see Peter" Lord Devonshire finally said and I easily switched babies holding my little girl close. I knew the elder Duchesses all gossiped on how I have yet to have another child yet, my twins were only 4 months old did people expect me to have a child every 9 months?

Lord Devonshire was away from Chatsworth and when he was here the twins were constantly with us "can we please do something else now?" Catalina begged after moments of relative silence.

"Yes please!" William cried out dropping his book to the ground, Rose and Annette giggled closing their book as well.

"Yes, you may" Lord Devonshire answered, "you all may go outside and play for an hour or two but then you must come back in and study" they all nodded eagerly and Lady Middleton followed them out as they stampeded from the room.

"They need to catch up on their studies!" I snapped after they had left.

"Isabella they are just children, remember that" he said in a severe tone and shifted Peter in his arms.

"They be children but that does not give them the right to slack off! Michelle is just learning to write!" I fussed getting up to watch them run from the house and towards the river Lady Middleton following closely behind them.

"Tomorrow they shall go back to their regular schedule but today they are sad, Cordelia left to Spain and their parents to Court let them rest" I nodded reluctantly.

"Fine but only today" I wanted them all to be as smart as Tom and I were, I wanted them especially William and Anthony to have better opportunities I know for girls it is harder to get respect. "But you shall not get away that easily when you are older" I cooed to my little boy who smiled up to me.

Cordelia Clancey

At first I was excited and though I hated saying goodbye to my mother I knew I would see her again. Now I longed to be in my mama's arms and have her promise it would be alright, I hated sailing it always made me sick and unhappy and now that I was thinking about it I hated to be in this ship till January. "Tis not so bad" Charles said looking out the window of our room, I was laying in bed wanting to be home.

"Speak for yourself" I whimpered and he came over and laid next to me.

"Cordelia we shall only be gone for a few months it is not that bad" he sighed wrapping an arm around me.

"I cannot help but miss my family" I whispered sadly and he was quiet for a few moments.

"I forget that you were rarely separated from them for more then a few times, but I promise it will be alright love, it is not like you shall fall apart without them" he laughed a little bit but his laughter did nothing to improve my mood.

"I am going to miss mama's birthday I completely forgot" tears filled my eyes and he hugged me against him.

"It is alright we are going back" I nodded and we stayed in bed the rest of the day getting used to the sway of the sea.

December 16th 1534

Katherine Boleyn, Princess of Spain, Duchess of Wiltshire

I wished my children could be here for my birthday "Katherine" I heard and turned to see Thomas entering the room "happy birthday Ma Cherie" I scowled angrily at him.

"I have turned 50 Thomas there is nothing happy about that" I snapped and he could not help but smiled as he walked towards me.

"I have a surprise for you" he said kneeling in front of me and I perked up just a little.

"And what is it?" I asked curiously.

"As you know we are leaving for Hever Castle for Tom's marriage" I nodded and he took my hands and kissed them as the door burst open and my children ran through.

"Happy birthday mama!" Rose, Annette, Michelle and Catalina all cried out at once and I jumped up hugging them close.

"Happy birthday" William and Anthony said hugging me tightly.

"I am so happy to see you all! Oh Thomas thank you!" I hugged him tightly as Isabella and her husband walked in.

"Happy birthday mama" she said hugging me tightly.

"Thank you mi amor, did you bring Sofia and Peter with you?" I asked curiously.

"No, but they shall be at Hever Castle for the wedding" Lord Devonshire said and I nodded in understanding.

"Mama did we surprise you?" Rose begged taking my hand and my attention.

"Yes you did and I am very happy" she hugged tightly around my waist.

"It is snowing out too mama!" Annette said pulling the curtains back from the window so I could see outside.

"It is Harri's birthday too" Catalina whispered mournfully and I pulled her into my arms.

"It is alright love" I whispered before her tears could start, I knew if Catalina started to cry it would not be long till my own tears started. "Are you alright?" She nodded and I kissed her cheek pulling away.

"Mama? Are you sad?" Anthony asked cautiously.

"No" I answered quickly looking towards him, "I am not sad at all, I am happy" I said with a smile, "have you all been good for your sister?" I asked and they nodded with mischievous smiles.

"They did everything possible to stray from their studies" she answered and Thomas lifted Michelle up unexpectedly so she shrieked happily.

"I paid attention papa I know how to spell things now!" Michelle announced from her fathers arms.

"I am very proud of you, now what about your brothers and sisters?" He asked looking to the older children.

"Sorry papa" they all whispered sadly none of them could lie to Thomas, they might twist the truth with me but none dared try that on their father.

"You will focus on your studies or you will get no playtime at all, understand?" He said in a severe voice.

"We understand papa" Anthony answered for all of them.

"Twas no so bad having them at Chatsworth, they provide constant entertainment" Lord Devonshire said and I could not help but laugh.

"Yes they have a way of doing that" I laughed and kissed the top of Annette's head.

"Go help your servants unpack your belongings Tom is at Court as well"

George Boleyn, Duke of Rochford

Mary's death hit me hard. I did not know what to do after all the only reason I stayed in France was for Mary. Upon my arrival with Jane I found Renee has been made Charlotte's governance and I was extremely grateful, the King has replaced me as ambassador and instead I took over as controller of my nephew's household and report directly to the King.

Today was his birthday and my mothers as well, I made sure to send her a letter a while ago so it would arrive around her birthday, Charlotte for a while had been very confused and constantly in tears screaming for her mama. "George, I do not wish for you to get the wrong impression of me I am sure by now your family has since I broke the betrothal of Charles to Catalina" he started off as I stood in his office. "My counselors are encouraging me to take a new wife" I had to bite my own tongue, "I loved you sister very much I want you to remember that and any new wife I get is only political but this country needs a Queen" I nodded in understanding.

"Whom where you thinking about?" I questioned stiffly.

"Her name is Catherine de' Medici" I nodded remembering the name from somewhere, "I am going to agree to marry her in March" I was a little surprised.

"March? Are you not going to wait till the year of mourning is over?" I asked in shock.

"My counselors advice against it I am young but my son is as well they want to make sure I have more heirs as soon as possible, please this is nothing against your family of England, this is a decision is for France and that is all" it took me a few minutes to collect my thoughts.

"Tis your decision Your Majesty, my approval means nothing and tis biased" he nodded but still looked weary.

"My children need a mother my intention is not to replace Mary but to give them someone to look up to as a maternal figure" he explained as best he could.

"I understand Your Majesty" he let me leave after a few more minutes of talking and I went back to my chambers scooping Jane into my arms.

"Papa!" She giggled happily.

"My little girl" I said kissing her cheek.

"You have a letter from England" a maid said, Renee was with Charlotte.

"Thank you" Jane looked to the parchment excitedly.

"Nana!" I knew she missed them all dearly but this was our home now.

Dear George,

I write hoping everything is well in France and your mother sends her love to you and your family. I am writing to tell you about decisions that have been made concerning this family. First of all Isabella gave birth to twins, Peter and Sofia and they are absolutely healthy and Isabella is well. Cordelia has married a man called Charles Clancey and is leaving to Spain to spend sometime with Elizabeth.

Your younger sisters are in perfect health and William and Anthony are causing their own brand of trouble as usual. I have decided in the interests of this family to make Tom my heir to the Wiltshire title, he has given up the title Duke of Pembroke and became Viscount Lincoln. Since he plans to live in England it would only seem natural to leave it to him, god forbid your mother or I die the care of the younger children shall go to him and he will inherit Hever, Blinking and Dover. If I die your mother shall go to live with him and his wife as well.

I did not make this decision lightly I did it in the interest of our family, the head of our family should be in England. This does not mean you are valued any less for we still love you very much.

High Highness,

Thomas Boleyn, Prince of Spain, Duke of Wiltshire

I crumpled the paper in my hand angrily "Nana?" Jane asked again and I set her on the ground.

"She says she loves you very much" she smiled and clapped her hands while I had her governance take her away. Once she was gone I grabbed a vase and threw it at the wall. HOW DARE HE! I was his first son! I was his rightful heir! He has replaced my true mother in everyway possible!

I ripped the letter up and threw it into the fireplace watching it turn to ash, he has replaced our entire family my true sister Mary was dead as was Anne, I was all that was left and he threw me out to make way for HER son.

"George? Are you alright?" Renee asked in shock rushing into the room.

"I am not going to inherit the title Duke of Wiltshire, he has given it to my brother Thomas" she looked bewildered for a moment.

"Do not be this upset my love we live in France you are the Duke of Rochford….tis not like I could give you a son to pass the title too" she whispered the ending sadly and I kissed her.

"That means nothing to me, I love you Renee" I whispered cradling her face.

"You do not get it do you? I means a lot to me George! Did you ever stop to think maybe I wanted to have children not just to give you heirs but to have my very own children?" She cried angrily before leaving the room in tears. I felt so flustered and confused! Why could not everything be so simple?
