The Girl in the Blizzard ~ Chapter Two ~ Trust

'Would she be any safer with me?' the Doctor thought to himself, unsure if he should ask the young and scared teen before him to be his companion. He wasn't even sure if she would trust him enough to answer. At this point; she was barely even looking up at him, let alone saying anything. Jade obviously was no Rose, but just about the opposite. She was shy, even fragile. While Rose on the other hand, had been strong, at times the Doctor would think that Rose had been unbreakable. She had been so strong, powerful, yet caring all the same. The Doctor couldn't tell what Jade would be like, all he knew right now, was that she was a shy, hurt young teen, unsure whether or not to trust the man she had just met.

Finally, the Doctor made his decision, he walked over and took his place next to Jade, he hid his nervous feelings with his slight grin, which seemed to comfort Jade a bit. "Jade, I've got something to ask you, if you don't mind," he said, and the girl looked up, almost in a questioning sort of way. The Doctor took a deep breath, and continued. "Jade, would you like to come with me, and be my companion?" he asked, and Jade slightly cast her eyes down, and turned her head away a bit, as if nervously unsure about whether to accept the offer, or deny it. "It will be dangerous… but, I will do anything in my power to keep you safe from that man," he added, knowing that Jade knew he was talking about her father.

Jade thought for a moment, remembering what her father had done to her over the years, and then nodded. "Alright," she stated, softly and simply, barely looking up at the Doctor. "Thank you, Doctor," Jade added, looking over at the Doctor, a very slight smile on her face.

"Your welcome, Jade," the Doctor replied, smiling.

The Doctor led Jade to the room she would be staying in later on that night. "Well, here's your room, make yourself comfortable, and just give a shout if you need me," he said kindly, and noticed that Jade seemed a bit nervous in the room, though she nodded, seemingly putting on a brave face. "Is there something bothering you, Jade?"

Jade slightly nodded, "It's just the worry of my father possibly finding us… I can't go back with him, I wouldn't survive," she said, her voice shaking slightly as she spoke.

The Doctor gave a reassuring look to Jade, knowing she would have said something like this at some point, or would have been thinking it. "This is a special place, Jade. No one can step through those doors unless I let them in. You're safe here, I promise," he told her, soothingly. Jade simply nodded, a small smile on her face. The Doctor left the room, and jade settled herself in, feeling a sense of security that she had never truly felt before.
