Hello peoples! It is I, Ratchet's Apprentice 88, back with another chapter. I hope you like it! :-)
Disclaimer: I do not own the Transformers. I only own Novenium
This day was just like all the others had been for the last week or so. Nova worked all day and then went straight back to her quarters. She still wasn't speaking to Ratchet and only a little bit to Bluestreak, who was rapidly deteriorating. He was unconscious ninety five percent of the time and the other five where he was awake, he spent staring at the ceiling. His and Nova's conversations had been shortened to just a few words, then again, that pretty much all he could manage. The antivirus had been found and given to him, but it didn't seem to do anything, which only proved that it was too late. She would come in and put a full ration of energon in his IV, his half and half of hers, say hello, maybe a "How are you?" would be asked, but that was about it. The entire atmosphere of the med bay changed too. Nova's cheerfulness had always made it a little brighter, but now, since she was out all day, you could feel the depression in the air. Nova still smiled and acted happy, but everyone could tell it was fake. Simply put, it was miserable. It's not that she was avoiding Bluestreak or was angry with him, no, that was Ratchet. It was just that when she was near Bluestreak, she had to think about her feelings and she did not want to do that. By staying away from Bluestreak, she didn't have to deal with the drama. Okay, maybe she was avoiding him, but it was for a good reason! Even Ironhide had noticed the tension, you had to be a complete moron not to, and had the sense not to talk to her about Blue. Nova had been rather successful in her avoiding of certain bots, but then Ratchet had to call her to meet him in the med bay.
Nova walked down the halls to the med bay, on guard for Ironhide. And then it happened again but this time it wasn't Ironhide, it was Sideswipe. He pulled her into the closet and shut the door. Like she did with the weapons specialist, she kneed Sideswipe in his 'down under' and he fell to the ground. "Huh, deja ve." Nova thought.
"Primus, Ironhide was right. What is wrong with you femme?!" Sideswipe exclaimed.
"You pulled me into a closet and you're asking what's wrong with me?!" She yelled at him. "What is with these mechs and closets?!" She thought to herself.
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm not like that. I don't go after femme's just for a quick frag. I don't walk out on them, they walk out on me most of the time. But I also wanted to tell you that Ironhide was right." he said.
"What, about me being a psychotic femme?"
"That, and about you and Blue. You two are meant for each other and you know it."
"You are insane! And stay out of my love life!" She screamed, opening the door.
"You know I'm right!" he called to her as she walked away.
The rest of the trip was rather uneventful. No other mechs had tried to pull her into anymore closets and finally she made it to the med bay.
"Ratchet?" asked Nova. She kept her voice completely professional and void of emotion.
He was sitting on one of the vacant berths across the room from Bluestreak's. "I wanted to apologize about what happened a week ago. I had been stressed and was not in the right mindset to work. You were right, but even though a lot has changed, I hope I haven't too much and I especially don't want to see you change. I hope you can forgive me."
Nova was defiantly not expecting this. She had come fully prepared to scream at him a bit more like she did during their initial argument. Ratchet was never this openly emotional. Her mouth was open slightly and she gaped at him in shock for a moment before rushing into his arms. "Of course I forgive you Ratch, you're like a creator to me. Hell, you practically are my creator . I think of you as one, I have ever since you became my guardian after the Autobots found me."
He gladly returned the hug, again surprising her. "I'm glad, I've always thought of you as my own."
And the two of them just stayed there like that, friend and friend, medic and apprentice, father and daughter. Still hugging, Ratchet sighed and said, "I love you Nova."
"I love you too,…..Sire." Nova muttered as she snuggled deeper into her surrogate father's embrace.
Neither of them moved until Nova decided that it was time for bed. They bid each other goodnight and set off to their respective rooms.
It was about two thirty in the morning when Nova's medical alert pager pinged her com link system. She wasted no time in getting to the med bay because Ratchet never used the medical alert system unless it was really serious. When she got to the doorframe of the med bay, she was horrified at what she saw. Ratchet and First Aid were bent over Bluestreak's unconscious frame, working frantically. The monitors he was connected to were going berserk, screeching and flashing red. After getting over the shock, she too ran over and helped stabilize the mech. I took a while, but after a few close calls, Bluestreak was safe, sort of. He was fading into unconsciousness again but this time was different, he could feel it. The other medics had backed away to give him and Nova a bit of time alone.
"N-Nova" he gasped.
"Blue?" she asked, concern and worry think in her words. She grabbed his hand and held on as though it were a life line. If she didn't let go, neither would he.
"I-I, I need to t-tell y-you some-something." came the weak reply. "It's now or never." he thought.
"What?"
"I-I n-need you to kn-know, I-I,…." Then he faded out. He wasn't dead, just unconscious. "Blue? Bluesteak?! Bluestreak!" Nova screamed. This was it. The coma. They all knew it was coming, she knew, it just hurt much more than she thought it would. Ratchet came up behind his adopted daughter and placed a servo on her shoulder. She immediately turned and for the second time in that twenty four hour period, she melted in his arms.
"Shhhh," he soothed. "Remember, he still has a chance.
It was true, Bluestreak did still have a chance. A small chance, but a chance none the less. He would have to fight, but like Nova had said, he was a strong mech. He would fight to live, if not for him, then for her. Ratchet had seen them in med bay. He knew they loved each other, just by the way they acted, anyone could tell. Bluestreak just didn't want to admit it and Nova hadn't realized it yet. He had taken notice, but unlike Ironhide, he was smart enough to let them come together on their own. Primus knows it was bound to happen sometime. But maybe the old weapons specialist had done good, Bluestreak was about to tell her, but she had been robbed from the truth she had needed to hear by the slagging coma.
They stayed like that for the rest of the night. Nova crying in Ratchet's arms, Bluestreak lying on the berth in a coma, and First Aid wondering whether he should leave or stay while standing awkwardly in the corner of the med bay.
I know it was kind of fluffy but there had to be some kind of father-daughter thing between Nova and Ratchet. Sideswipe! The Autobots have an issue with closets! It finally happened! Blue's in the coma (T_T), and poor First Aid! Hope you all liked it. Reviews are pure awesomeness!
