No need for an excuse - 4
A/N: Please forgive me some invented things.
Not expecting Akise to do that, Yukiteru stared at the portal as if it were something he never saw before. Why did Akise do that? And how would he get Akise to return to the human world? It wasn't like every human could see the God, not to speak about using the portals God made. Deciding to prevent others to follow the silver-haired male's example, Yukiteru went through the portal and closed it afterwards. Now there was one task: to search for his friend and to get him out of here.
"Akise-kun? This is no place you should stay in...come out, please. Let's say our goodbyes and-"
He was interrupted by two arms that wrapped themselves around Yukiteru's waist and a pair of lips lingering near his ear.
"No saying goodbyes. I was created by Deus and since he passed on, I'll stay with you.", Akise whispered into the brunette's ear.
"But you-"
"No, I'm not human, Yukiteru-kun. Not fully anyway."
"W...What?", Yukiteru asked, confused.
After explaining the decomposing process and telling Yukiteru what Deus had told him...well, except for the accusation that Deus had made about his feelings not being true, Akise smiled and asked the brunette: "Do you understand why I wanna stay with you? My life is basically in your hands the whole time. And I want it to be in your hands."
Yukiteru played with his short brown hair, sitting down onto the floor. "But you changed the future. Shouldn't you be free? You acted against Deus' will. I know that because with the power I have earned his memories. He wanted Yuno to win.", he said, shaking his head. "And that would lead to a new world, where Deus would live, gaining an eternal life this way.", he explained.
"But it's easy for him to get an eternal life, right? I mean, all he has to do is not to start the game, then he would live forever, right?"
"But the problem is that the game has already started when the world has been 'reset'. Deus of the 3rd or 4th world wouldn't know that he would regret his decision. Yet, he would see the future and he would see that Yuno wins. That is what he thought until recently as well.", he said.
Akise laughed. The first part made perfect sense, however the second one...Akise knew better than that.
"Yukiteru-kun...I'm sorry, but you're wrong. He made a bet with Murmur that you would be the one to win.", he said, grinning as he awaited a reaction from the shorter male.
"Deus believed in me l-like that?", the shorter male stuttered.
"Why do you think he wanted to destroy me? If I had told you that you can't bring people you killed back to life, you'd quit and then he'd lose the bet-"
The silver-haired male was interrupted by the brunette.
"What do you mean by that?!"
The voice of the brunette was high-pitched and defying. It didn't sound right to him that he, as the new God, couldn't do that.
"I though you knew by now.."
"No! That can't be true! Then my parents will be dead forever just like all the people that were killed during the survival game?! I refuse to believe! No!"
Yukiteru was in panic and shock, he sunk to the ground and hugged his knees. He was scared, he was scared of the realization that all the people who died in this stupid game would stay dead. He was scared of thinking that everything was his fault. As if reading the brunette's mind, Akise sighed.
"Yukiteru-kun, listen..."
A soft sob escaped the other's lips.
"Yukiteru..?", Akise sighed, then cupped the other's cheeks and lifted his face. Yukiteru was crying. "That's not your fault. You were dragged into that game, you were basically forced to kill. Or would you rather have died?", he asked.
"No...I...I want to live.", he stuttered, sobbing "But...it hurts me to know that all the people that were close to me are gone..."
"That's not true...I'm here.", Akise said with a soothing smile. "And I always will be there for you...", he said, kissing the other.
"Thank you, Akise...and sorry for that...I'll never repeat Deus' mistake...I won't start a survival game because of boredom...", he whispered, cuddling up to Akise and quietly crying on his shoulder.
"Yukiteru-kun...I love you. And believe me, you didn't do anything wrong..", the red-eyed teen replied, soothingly stroking the brown hair of his beloved one "So, since you didn't do anything wrong, there is no need for an excuse. I'm glad we won this game together. I won't let you get bored enough to start such nonsence, I promise", he said with a smirk.
