Chapter 5: Welcome to Bayville Part 1
Sunday 1:30 am
It was a thunderous night in North Brook, Illinois, where a teenager slept in her bed, as the thunder boomed and lighting zigzagged across the night sky. There she lay undisturbed for the moment as the wind swept through her room flipping pages, though an open book as well as taking the sheet that covered her off her slim body.
She began tossing in turning, in her sleep as she dreamt a dream like none other, she continued to toss and turn, muttering some words as she slept and finally she screamed, it was a moment later that she woken up in tears staining her face.
She sat up, looking at her surrounds, how she got to the basement if she was in her room nearly for the whole night? Suddenly the light casts away the dark as footsteps were coming down to where she was, her parents confused and baffled to see their daughter there came rushing to her side.
"Katherine, what happen were you sleep walking?" her father asked
More tears were shed as her mother and father embraced her, she sobbed within the bosom of her mother. She stroked her back gently soothing her daughters with her words; her father on the other hand, looked up at the ceiling of the basement, he was beyond shocked.
"My gosh…" Both women looked up at the ceiling in horror as they saw bed sheets hanging from the ceiling.
Katherine found her voice, "M-m-m-m-mom…what's happening to me?"
Her mother held her daughter tighter placing a hand on her head, brining her closer to her brook of her neck as she was still struck in awe as she saw the ceiling, "I don't know honey, I just don't know…"
Thunder sound and lighting illuminated the basement in a flash.
Bayville, New York
Cerebro came alive flashing red as Charles Xavier sat in front of it, trying to detect where the mutant signature was coming within the 50 states of America.
"Discovery…Mutant Signature…"
The computer soon pulled a map of the fifty states honing in on one of it, "The second dictation in this facility…"
It flashed again this time showing a young teenage girl head on side of the screen and her full body height with brown hair and hazel eyes about 5'6" foot tall as the computer said, "Extrapolation complete…Identity confirmed…name; Katherine "Kitty" Anne Pryde…residents: North Brook, Illinois…Age: 15… "
Professor X took off his helmet of Cerebro placing it back in it containment.
Somewhere in New York City
The Hellfire Club counts among its members the most famous, wealthy and influential members of society. Membership is passed on to descendants, and can be earned through wealth or influences. While many accept the invitation simply for the pleasures that the Club offers, others seek wealth and influence. In fact, the purpose of the Hellfire Club is to obtain and exert power through politics and economic influence instead of outward conquest and domination. Since its foundation, the Hellfire Club has been involved in wars and assassinations to further the agendas of the Club's most powerful members.
The Club has branches in New York City, London, Hong Kong, and Paris; the various branches are all overseen by the Lord Imperial, but unbeknownst to most members is the Club's Inner Circle. Originally known as the Council of the Chosen, this secret group has a record of intrigue; backstabbing, blackmailing and politicking that plague the Hellfire Club that have resulted in many changes of the Inner Circle, as new players seek out membership in order to obtain influence, power, and wealth. The following lists the membership of each incarnation of the Inner Circle and the title they held; in descending order of rank are Kings and Queens, followed by Bishops and Rooks, each member assuming the titles of the major chess pieces.
However, before their computer monitor two hooded figures received an alert about the mutant signature. The image of a young girl with brown hair and hazel eyes about 5'6" appeared, the statistic came into paper and one of the members looked at the other.
"Inform the White Queen about Katherine Pryde, we must get to her first before Xavier."
Forest Hills, Queens, New York Sunday Morning 9:00am
Peter could not believe that the day has finally arrived, he was leaving New York, and he was not coming back, well he was coming back if he was invited by any of the three friends that he was going miss.
'They are not that important…'
'Not important?!' Red flags shown everywhere when that thought came up, 'Listen, wise guy, they have been around longer than anyone else so keeps that thought out of your head…'
Silence
He sure made a lot of good memories and some bad memories and the embarrassing memories. The thing Peter was going to miss the most was the friends that he made during his time here, well almost everyone.
'Jameson! We hate Jameson!' the voice snarled
'Tell me about it…' he thought, 'The guy can be a prick when he wants too...'
Peter awoken early that day around 6:00 am to hand in his resignation letter to the Daily Bugle, he gave it to Jameson, he wasn't too happy about it, not that he cared anyway, Joseph Robertson and Betty Brant he would definitely miss the most, since they were the more encouraging people out the three of them.
Now that he was moving on to a new life he will have to find new work and a new school to finish his senior year in high school, luckily before he went to bed that night, he fired up the computer finding a school by the name of Bayville after. His phone rang when he checked it was Dr. Connors.
Peter put the last box from his room in the car trunk; the men that had arrived at 7:00am were from U-Haul they nearly had all the boxes in the van furniture was already loaded, all the photos had been loaded with other fragility, their kitchen supply has been put in. All that was left was the clothes, which was in 30 different boxes.
"Hello…"
"Hey Spidey, Dr. Connors here."
"Hey doc, give me a sec, I can't hear you well." He said
"Sure thing…"
Peter turned his head, making sure no-one were listening to the conversation, but just to be on the safe side, he went to a secluded part of his home, the backyard into the garage locking himself in there just be sure.
"Talk to me, what did you find doc?"
"That suit you are wearing, it like some type of symbiote a living being, meaning that it needs to bond with the host to survive." Dr. Connor said, "These this thing in nature when they bond with a host it becomes very hard to unbind with it."
'A symbiote…that's what I have on me?' Peter thought about it, 'No wonder I've been hearing voices in my head…'
'Yes…that would me…'
Now that Peter now knows what the thing he has, he wanted to know more about it, "What else can you tell me?"
Connor sighed over the phone, apparently the discovery, he has made shocked and left him amazed.
"It was quite a specimen you left Spidey, I've never seen anything like this. Its chemistry is unique it amplifies the characteristics of its host especially aggression…"
Peter clicked his tongue, 'Aggression noted…'
"This thing is kind of dangerous to have around Spidey, my recommendation is get rid of that suit as soon as possible because once it bonds to you, you'll be in for the ride of your life trying to get rid of it."
Peter was silent for a moment, and then he thanked Dr. Connors and hung up.
Dr. Curt Connors looked through his microscope; he leaned back into his chair, looking at a bigger screen that showed the symbiote bonding with a subject sample that he placed.
He saw the symbiote as a threat and he had to find a way to separate or at nullify it; he then reached for the phone and made a call to someone. A few rings later, someone picked up.
"Baxter Building, Reed Richards speaks how can I help you?"
"Reed it's Curt."
"Curt long time old friend! How are you doing?" he asked
"I'm doing fine, but I have something here that I want you to take a look at, a friend of mine has it on I'm sure you are familiar with Spider-Man?"
"Symbiote you say?" The man over the phone footsteps were heard, "Spider-Man has it you say?"
"Yes…"
"Send all that you have done over Curt. When I look at it, I will see what I can do about."
"Great, I'll be sending over the research I've done for the symbiote parasite, right now. Thanks again Reed."
"Anytime friend."
Once the call ended, Connors brought his digital research and sent it via email to the Baxter building. He just hope once Reed Richards gets all the data that they will be able to brainstorm on ideas to separate the parasite from Spider-Man before it was too late.
North Brook, Illinois
"I don't what you are talking about and how do you know Kitty?" Asked her mother
"Please, if we may come in for a moment, we'll answer all your questions, anything you need." Jean was completely at a lost here, Kitty's parents were being very unreasonable denying the fact that nothing has happened to their daughter.
"Excuse me miss, anything that can say, can be said out here." Her father was not amused by these people.
"Very well then…" Charles spoke, leaning forward in his wheelchair, "I think you about Kitty's unique transition, and we simply want to help her through it. Why don't you tell about last night?"
The shock was invented in their faces; however, they did not notice a red corvette with heavily tinted window pull up in across the street from them. Inside the corvette sat a woman around her early 30's; she had blue eyes, and blonde hair. Her sunglasses covered her eyes as she saw what was transpiring, she smirked as she saw a familiar man in a wheelchair.
'Charles, Charles, Charles that is no way to approach people.' She let a small chuckle loose
"Last night is none of your business." Mr. Pryde stuck his finger accusingly at Professor X, "Please just leave us alone."
They went back inside and closed the door.
"Well, that went well." Jean said, turning to her mentor, "Why not just call them and get hung then."
Professor X crossed his arms resting them on the armchair, "You'll have to get close to Kitty personally at her school."
They walked from the house when he stopped halfway in the yard, he looked at the red Corvette across the street, and he sensed a familiar presence within it. Jean looked at him curiously.
"Professor?"
"It's nothing Jean come, let's go."
Once out of sight and out of mind the woman stepped out of her car and walked to the Pryde house and she knocked. It was a moment and Mrs. Pryde answered the door, "Can I help you?"
"Mrs. Pryde, Emma Frost… I'm the chairman of the Massachusetts Academy, and your daughter has caught my interest with her grades, may I come to discuss more with you and your husband?"
Mrs. Pryde opened the door and let Emma in, she closed it as one word came into the woman's mind, 'Success…'
It was worth the wait Peter finally saw his new home there it stood by a fence around the yard, he got a good size up of the house there was a mini balcony next to the steps, it was two stories high, white on the main boarding, and blue on the outskirt of the window.
There was a giant window, Peter guessed that was a bedroom, now he had two heavy luggage in his hand and the movers told him that they were able to carry that for him but he snapped at them much to their annoyance.
His aunt came up to him smiling, "Welcome to our new home Peter…"
Now he sighed a relief; 'This is it… a new life here I come…'
