. . . *Takes a deep breath, opens mouth to speak*
. . . . . *Shakes head and walks away.*
Hey—it's October! WOO-HOOOOO! Psych-Out will be posted soon, it's been ready since I started this story. XP
"You—seriously brought trashcan lids?!"
"What if the spell doesn't work?" Shawn banged them together. "Doesn't it bring back those special memories of meeting my wonderful face for the first time?"
"Why do you two smell like those perfume sellers in the mall?" Dean finally came out of the room, shutting the door immediately after. "The window's open," He grabbed Sam's shoulders. "Do NOT open that door! For anything!"
"We'll be gone anyway. Hold on, you need to be enchanted too," He grabbed the bowl. "For protection, I mean. She won't be able to cast anything on you, it'll be reflected back by the energy from the herbs and oil. And there's one more part of the spell you need to be a part of."
Tabitha went outside, and looked up into the sky. "Almost sundown. Another few hours or so…they'll be here." She nodded to herself, going back inside. "They'll be here."
Gus was now sitting in a chair, still in the cavern, a Reader's Digest in his hands. He was silently nodding, a concentrated look on his face. "Mm-hm. Mm-hm . . . Oh-h-h-h!"
Just another half hour. Shawn was in the back seat (having lost a rock-paper-scissors-contest with Dean), playing Space Cows on his phone. He looked out the window every once a while, telling them to hurry up.
She knew they would take a while. It took a full day for them to come out the long way, but a few hours to come by the short route they found the last time.
Soon.
The car door slammed shut, and the three men all grabbed weapons and flashlights.
They nodded to each other, heading into the woods in a cool, slow motion-like walk. Three hours till' sundown.
"I have to pee, hold on," Shawn walked behind some trees.
"Well, now's the time to do it," Dean shrugged, going to a different area.
"Alright, but then no more breaks!"
Tabitha grinned wickedly. The sun was setting, and they were deep in the forest.
She could feel it, know that this game just started. And, smirking, she told Gus so.
He made a face behind her back.
Lassiter took a bite out of his Subway sub, wiping a piece of lettuce off of the corner of his mouth. He looked up, unsure what made him do so.
Then, shrugging, he took another bite.
In one hour, they had reached the crime scene. In two, they had re-traced their path that Shawn and Dean had taken while being chased by possessed people.
And now, they arrived at the entrance to the cave. Yes, sunset.
A shadow hovered at the turn into the caverns, and then flittered away. Sharing glances, they followed it down the corridor it went into, saw it flutter into another one, and got the memo. The shadow led them through the caverns (Shawn leaving a few scraps of cloth at each turn), and finally went through the door that held Gus and Tabitha.
Dean poked it with his shovel. "That was too easy. Why'd she lead us here?"
"She knew we were here," Sam said, "Witch seemed pretty cocky before."
"Yeah," Shawn opened it, "but dude. She led us here."
"Correct." Tabitha stood with her hands on hips. "Took you long enough."
"Where's my best friend?"
"In a quiet place."
"I'll repeat for your old lady hearing aide: where's my best friend?"
"Guys!" Gus cried out from behind several rocks, "She's got pizza!"
"Ooh, what kind?"
"Dude," Dean gave him a look, then stepped up. "What do you want?"
She smiled, taking a few steps around them. "Well, first off I want outta here—as if you can help with that—second, I want entertainment. Frankly, you humans annoy the hell outta me," she crossed her arms, "especially drunk-boy over here."
"You got him drunk?!" Shawn took a menacing step forward, but was stopped by Sam. "Nobody gets Gus drunk but me and any other cheap dates he can find!"
"Please, he has no resistance whatsoever to magic."
"What do you want in return for him?" Sam asked.
She wisped across the room to his face, "I. Want. Out."
"Bet ya' do, bitch witch," Dean snapped, "but not without us."
She stood back now, inspecting their eyes. Was this another part of their game? No. No, their thoughts and eyes weren't lying - they actually did find a way out. "Wha-what?"
"We have a way to get you out of here," Shawn said, "in return for Gus, that is."
Tabitha whisked them to the entrance of the forest, and with Gus. With her head held high, she demanded to be released of her curse.
Sam was the one who took out the bottle of the oils and herbs they had prepared before coming here from his backpack, a deep blue colored glass that was the size of your hand. In silence, they all watched as he sprinkled it in a five-foot line across the clearing between trees and the parking lot.
When he finished, he stood back and motioned her forward. "You are free to go."
"That is it?" She eyed him for any hints of deception, finding none. "I will be freed?"
"In return for our friend, yes ma'am. You will not be limited to this forest any longer."
She turned back to the oil line, and took a step forward. "If you are lying to me…"
Sam slapped a hand over Dean's opened mouth, "Go ahead."
She took a deep breath—it had been several centuries since living in the real world—and took the step onto the pavement. She turned around and grinned at them, and turned back to the new world.
And then it kicked in.
She groaned, and doubled over. "Wha—?" She cried out, throwing up a black substance. Tabitha then slowly, and painfully, got up and began to stumble towards the three men. "You."
That was when Shawn took out the trashcan lids.
. . . . She fell to the ground.
.f.
Yeah, after a year and a half you would get lazy on the ending too. Stay with me, and look up 'I've Heard it Both Ways' from the December Psych: The Musical episode! They FINALLY got it! 8D WOO-HOO!
On a technicality, they didn't lie to Tabitha - she died, and therefore was no longer limited to the forest anymore. Everybody who has helped me pull this story along will be mentioned in the Psych-Out, soon to be posted! 8D
