BGM: [HD Audio] Ailee - I Will Go To You Like The First Snow (Goblin Ost Part 9) 도깨비 OST
It was quiet, the only sounds being the melancholic ticking of the clock. The atmosphere felt heavy and cold, almost as if time had frozen in its tracks right in that room. Sitting propped up upon a bed was the mage, her lilac hair casting down over her shoulders. She looked weaker than ever, her amethyst eyes dimmed and solemn as she crossed her hands. Sitting beside her within a chair was Elsword, who was hunched over, eyes gazing downwards. He ran a hand through his hair, a soft sigh escaping his lips.
"How are you feeling sunshine?"
"...Better than before I guess," She responded gently.
He knew it was a lie.
"But how long are you going to keep looking at the ground, Elsword?" At her words, he slowly raised his head, forcing a half-hearted smile.
"You're just too bright that I can't look at you directly,"
A lie for a lie.
"...I'm right here," Aisha murmured, closing her eyes, "Don't look anywhere else or I might just disappear before you know it,"
"...I'd hope you'd be lying, you're game of hide-and-seek is quite hard to play," The swordsman laughed, shaking his head as he reached a hand forward, grasping her tiny fingers within his own.
Her skin was cold against his warm touch. It was frightening. Elsword felt his heart tighten, standing up from his spot to sit next to her on the bed. His eyes glazed over her figure, taking in her pale lips and softened characteristics. Soon enough, his scarlet orbs traveled down to her arm, where he lifted up her sleeve, revealing an intricate flower marking imbedded in her skin that pulsed with a light lavender color. Ewolm's marking.
…
"...Have you been running this whole time…?"
"Running, huh...? I guess you could say that. But I wasn't always running to escape, I was running to hunt, to kill, to murder... I've lost count of how many lives I've taken," The maiden smiled weakly, opening her eyes to gaze into his burning scarlet ones, "I wanted revenge so bad, so bad that it lead me to this pathetic state."
Why did every word she said felt so distant?
"What pathetic state? You still look as beautiful as ever," Elsword whispered, leaning forward to press his forehead against hers.
Aisha laughed quietly, "Only to you,"
"Don't say that Aisha…"
"...I wish I could've met you when I was in my prime… I would've kicked your ass in our first fight with no problem."
"I know you could've, and I know you still can," The swordsman couldn't help but realize how the hue within her eyes kept dimming slowly with every sentence she said.
How much time did she have left? He cursed himself. Why couldn't he have met her earlier? Why couldn't he have met her when she was vibrant, confident, powerful and fun? Why wasn't he there when she slowly broke herself over the years? Why... wasn't he there…?
"Stop blaming yourself," Aisha leaned closer, taking in his sorrowful eyes, "I can already tell from the look in your face. There wasn't anything you could've done."
Now she was comforting him. But it should've been him comforting her. Why was she like this? Why did she make his life so much harder? Without thinking, he wrapped his arms around her, resting his face in the crook of her neck. She was so small, so weak, so vulnerable, he didn't want to let her go. But no matter how close her held her, she just seemed to keep fading away from his touch.
Please… don't leave me…
"Elsword…" Aisha whispered brokenly, weakly raising her arms to hug his body, "I'm fine… I'm not scared…."
"But I am… Don't leave to where I can't follow you… Please…" The swordsman shook his head, pulling her closer, desperately trying to cling to whatever was left of her soul.
"...I don't think I can.."
Just tell me lies. I don't want to hear the truth anymore...
"Elsword… I never got to say thank you did I?" The mage's voice came out much softer than he had wished, her grip loosening around him.
"Don't say it…" He didn't want to hear it.
"Thanks... for saving me from Randall and his group…"
Stop… No more…
"Thanks... for being such a cute and stupid flirt…"
Please...
"Thanks... for being such a determined and hopeless idiot, I'm really happy that you kept chasing after me…"
Enough…
The female's voice was becoming quieter and quieter with every passing sentence. Her body was becoming colder and colder with every passing second.
"Thank you for everything. I guess… this is our goodbye…"
"No, it's not goodbye, you're going to be fine and when you wake up tomorrow, I'm going to be right there waiting…!"
...
"...I'm not going to wake up. You should know that better than anyone…" By now, her voice was barely audible.
It was almost like petals falling off a flower when Aisha's arms let go of Elsword's body, her body slackening completely. With wide and shaking eyes, the male quickly pulled her closer, frantically trying to warm her cold skin as he caressed her hair. The reality was too much for him to bear. Over and over, he kept brushing her hair with his fingers, listening to her slow breaths and tired sighs. Until suddenly, everything was silent once more, except for the ticking of the clock.

Thank you for following this story as I wrote it qwq
I hope I didn't rush the ending, I was really trying to
build that mood for this story x.x And hopefully the
OST added more to your sorrows (unless you didn't listen
then that's perfectly fine lol) This chapter was also
very short since I wanted this ending to be short and sweet!
I love sad stories, there isn't many sad endings out there!

Answer to Reviews~
SpiritedLun: hello! yes the epic kiss was one of my favorite parts while writing that chapter xD aisha's past is definitely sad qwq thanks for reading and reviewing, you give me motivation to write as an author!
Guest: ahh thank you! I try for a lightly detailed and well-written format so it doesn't ruin the pacing of the story xD i find it hard to keep reading when there's too many descriptions within one sentence lol thanks for reading and i hope you enjoyed this sad ending :)
