Please enjoy.
200 words on the nose.
He has no idea how long he has lain there.
Time has ceased to have meaning for him. He now measures the passing of the long days in inflicted pain, endured cold and unrelenting misery.
There is no light save the brief chink that blinds his watering eyes when the beast enters his cell.
There is no heat either. His body, where there is no burn of injury or fever, is numb and insensate.
Nor is there noise apart from the drip-drip-drip where the rusted pipe that crosses the cracked ceiling, leaks to the dirt floor.
The cadence is incessant and near drives him crazy but it at least ensures him a water source. It tastes brackish and bitter but it slakes the intense thirst that screaming has torn into his throat.
Yet still he fights.
Each time the foul, stinking creature enters he grasps the human bone he has dragged from the skeletal remnants that litter the floor and stands to greet it, fury plain in his fear-bright eyes.
He is brutally magnificent. His broken body pulled tall and strong, defiance written in his wavering stance.
He is not diminished.
He remains unbowed.
He is Winchester.
