B.J. had expected to sleep in, wake up slowly, and then cuddle with his lovely wife for a little bit before she had to get ready for work. Instead, he woke up to the sound of violent retching.

He opened his eyes and looked at the clock near the bed, which read 5:45. He turned over in bed to ask Peg if she knew what was going on, and saw that she was not in bed. B.J. then immediately got out of bed, threw on his blue robe, and ran into the bathroom to make sure Peg was ok.

As soon as he stepped in there, he saw that Peg was bent down over the toilet throwing up. He rushed to her side and kneeled down on the floor next to her.

"Peg, are you ok?" he asked as he pulled back her silky blonde hair to hold it out of her way.

She stopped vomiting, took a couple of deep breaths, and looked at him. "Yeah, I'm –" she was cut off when she suddenly starting gagging again. She quickly turned her head to the toilet and continued to throw up. She kept vomiting for the next couple of minutes while B.J. stayed beside her, holding her hair and rubbing her back. Finally, after what felt like forever, she stopped throwing up. She sat down while leaning on the wall next to her and took a few deep breaths.

"Are you sure you're alright?" B.J. asked, clearly concerned about Peg.

"I'm fine." Peg said, feeling well enough to stand up. "Thank you." Peg still didn't feel great, but the attention from B.J. was a wonderful distraction.

"What are you doing up so early?" B.J. asked her.

"I have to work an early shift at the café today. My boss wants me in by 6:30 to get ready for the morning rush." As she spoke, Peg started putting up her hair for work. B.J. noticed that she was already dressed in her waitress uniform.

"Well there's no way you can go into work like this." B.J. said. "You need to rest, Peg. You've obviously caught some sort of flu virus or something."

"B.J., I'm fine." Peg said as she continued to get ready. "It's not like I have anything contagious. This isn't the first time I've been sick. Besides, since I was gone for so long I can't miss any more hours at work. I have to go in, but I'll be alright."

"How do you know that whatever you have isn't contagious? C'mon, you're sitting here throwing up in the toilet first thing in the morning. Don't try and tell me that's normal. I'm a doctor, you know" As soon as the words came out of his mouth, he stopped. He suddenly remembered that this wasn't the first time Peg had been sick. During the last couple of months, she had mentioned feeling nauseous several times. He hadn't really thought anything of it since he'd been so focused on his own problems. But now that he thought about it, something wasn't right. Why was she feeling sick so often?

Then he remembered what Erin had said the night before.

"No way." he thought to himself. "There's no way." After all, he and Peg hadn't been trying to have a baby. On the other hand, they hadn't been trying not to have one either. Peg's first pregnancy had resulted from a year of them trying to conceive. With Erin, they had both been in tune to the signs that Peg was pregnant. Was it possible that Peg was pregnant and that he could have missed all of the typical signs the past few months?

As B.J. thought about all this, he looked closely at his wife as she got ready for work. He had seen her wear that waitress outfit many times, but this time he noticed how it fit her differently. A few of her feminine curves had started to disappear, and she filled out the outfit a bit more. Her body was changing: just like it had when she had been in the early stages of her first pregnancy.

"B.J., are you ok?" Peg asked as she continued putting on her makeup. "You're being awfully quiet."

"You know, Erin said something really crazy last night." B.J. said slowly, looking as if he was in a daze.

"She's two. She says crazy things all the time." Peg said, going back to focusing on her makeup. "What did she say this time?"

"She said that you were having a baby." B.J. replied quietly. As he spoke, he watched Peg's face in the mirror. He was looking for her to smile and laugh, or to talk about how ridiculous Erin's statement was. But instead, her eyes grew big. She sighed and turned to face B.J.

"Erin said I was pregnant?" Peg asked with a scared expression.

"Well, not in those words. She said it more along the lines of 'mommy have baby.'" B.J. was confused by Peg's reaction. After all, there was no reason for her to be frightened by what Erin had said. Not unless… "I mean, you're not pregnant, are you?"

Peg stared at him for a moment, unsure of how to respond. She needed to have this conversation with him, but right before she left for work wasn't the best time. Finally, she spoke.

"Yes, B.J. I am."

"See, I knew Erin was –" B.J. suddenly stopped, understanding what she had just said. "Wait. You're pregnant?"

"Yes." Peg answered timidly. "I would have told you sooner, but I just found out. And Erin wasn't supposed to know, but –"

"You're pregnant." B.J. said slowly. "We're having another baby." He paused for a moment. Fear was etched over his face as he stared off in the distance at nothing.

"B.J.? Are you ok?" Peg asked slowly. Since B.J. was so unpredictable lately, she had no idea how he was going to handle the news. Watching him react like this was like torture for her. "Honey, talk to me please."

"A baby. A baby…" B.J. muttered, clearly off in his own little world. "Excuse me for a minute." As he said it, he suddenly left their bedroom and stepped out on the back porch, slamming the doors as he went. Peg stepped into the living room, tears silently rolling down her cheeks as she did so. A minute or two later, Hawkeye came trudging down the stairs. His hair was messy and his maroon bathrobe was wrinkled, indicating that he had just woken up.

"I heard doors slamming." Hawkeye muttered in a voice that clearly showed he was still half asleep. "What's going on?"

"I'm sorry we woke you up." Peg said as she turned to him, biting her upper lip. She tried to hide the fact that she was crying, but he noticed right away.

"Peg, what's wrong." Hawkeye asked as he approached her.

"B.J, knows." Peg said sadly as she looked towards the backdoor. She could see B.J. pacing around outside, agitated and stressed.

"Knows what?" Hawkeye asked, still not catching on since he was so tired.

"He knows about the baby." Peg said somberly, looking at Hawkeye. "Apparently last night Erin told him that I was pregant. I don't know what I'm going to do. I mean, he's clearly upset. Look at him. He just muttered a few words and stormed outside. But I have to go into work, and I was supposed to leave already. I don't know if I can miss any more days of work without losing my job, but I need to be home with my husband." Her speech continued to get faster and more hysterical, showing she was about to break down and cry.

"Ok, slow down Peg." Hawkeye said as he grabbed her shoulders, pausing for a moment before continuing. "Look. You go to work. I'll stay here and talk to B.J."

"Oh, no." Peg said sympathetically. "You don't have to do that."

"Well, I don't know what else we can do." Hawkeye answered. "I mean, you have to go to work, and I should probably talk to B.J. anyway. I didn't travel across the country because I wanted to look at his mustache, you know. Besides, having this conversation with him will only be horrendously awkward."

Peg paused for a moment. "Are you sure? That's an awful lot to put on you."

"Positive." Hawkeye answered. "I've had many an awkward conversation with him before. Most of them about surprise pregnancies on his part." Peg laughed at Hawkeye's sarcasm, and he continued. "Seriously, Peg. Just go to work. I'll handle this."

"Thank you, Hawkeye." Peg got her purse and started to head upstairs to get Erin. "I'll take Erin to Norma Jean's so that you and B.J. can talk alone. Tell B.J. that I'm sorry I couldn't talk more, but I promise that we'll talk when I get home. I should get off work around 3 or so."

"I will. Now get Erin and go, before you stay around here too long and have that baby now!" Hawkeye added with a grin, trying to keep Peg calm. She smiled back and headed upstairs. As she did so, Hawkeye's smile quickly disappeared as he looked out into the backyard. Sure, he had sounded confident in front of Peg. He didn't want her to worry about B.J. But as he headed outside to talk to his friend, one thought consumed his mind.

How the hell was he supposed to have this conversation with B.J.?

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Well, I didn't post another chapter before Christmas (oops). It's been a crazy semester, so unfortunately I haven't really had time to work on the story. But it's Spring Break, so I'm posting now! Anyway, below are the references to previous episodes.

Welcome to Korea (S4, E1): In the chapter, Peg mentions that Erin's sitter is named Norma Jean. This is the same sitter that B.J. mentions to Hawkeye while at the officers club in Kimpo.

Although not a direct reference to any particular episodes, the robes Hawkeye and B.J. wear in the chapter are the same ones we continually see them wear throughout the show.

This chapter gives you a bit of a cliffhanger, so hopefully I'll have the next part posted soon. As always, reviews are greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much for being loyal readers and being patient with the fact that I can only post occasionally.

One other thing I want to mention is the death of William Christopher. For those of you who don't know, William Christopher (who played Father Mulcahy) passed away on December 31st. Although he has not been mentioned in this story, Father Mulcahy was one of my favorite characters. From what I've heard from others, William Christopher was as awesome of a person as the character he played. May he rest in peace.
