I am alive! I swear! How long did this chapter take? I don't know, but like, I tried. Erwin screws around with fire and talks to herself.
Erwin really didn't get why she had to take whatever was in those syringes, but she found it happened on a regular schedule.
At least she did once she learned that she could summon fire. That was actually fun as she was now able to burn the cursed banners hanging in her room. That was totally worth seeing everyone's face when they walked in on that fiasco. Needless to say, Erwin was proud of herself for causing a little chaos.
The next few weeks consisted of her figuring out how to control the little balls of fire she could summon and playing with them. Currently, she was seeing how big she could make the little white and green orbs of fire. She was laying on the floor while doing so; as she had learned last time, she could very easily burn a hole in her bed if she made one mistake. And she was sure the Major had had enough of her incinerating her own beds. Even she didn't want to annoy him to the point where having her was more a detriment than an advantage.
"I like living, thank you very much!" Erwin joked to herself. Schrödinger hadn't really been hanging around with her that much lately, but she was fine with that…Mostly. "It's like they don't even realize I have no impulse control." The blond girl sighed, rolling onto her stomach. "Well, then again, not even Caesar knows I stuck a fork in the toaster while she was at Anzio." Erwin hummed, glancing around her room as she thought of the memory.
Caesar had just left for Anzio to do something, Erwin hadn't even asked she was so excited. It meant she had at least a day or two to do whatever she wanted and fix any problems that arose. Even Oryou and Saemonza were out and wouldn't have been home for another hour. So, Erwin first tried to sit on the ceiling in her room. Naturally, this caused her to knock over a bookshelf and crash to the ground with a rather loud cacophony of noise. Since no one was home, a string of curses what added to the sound of collapsing metal bookshelves.
After that, she started making toast and got curious what would happen. She always heard it was a bad idea but no one ever told her why or what would happen if she stuck a fork in the toaster. So she did…Unfortunately, Saemonza and Oryou happened to walk in on her screeching curses like a banshee as the toaster basically exploded. Fortunately, they decided to keep it a secret for Caesar. And help her replace the toaster.
The toaster fiasco thankfully killed any curiosity she had about what would happen if she put a fork in the microwave and let it run.
"Okay, how in the hell did I make it to- no wait, never mind, someone always had an eye on me so I couldn't do stupid shit as a child." Erwin muttered, her tail lazily swishing back and forth as she spoke to herself. Her parents always told her it was a miracle she ever made it to five; she was the type of child to run across the street without looking after all.
"Maybe you could burn down this whole building!"
Erwin looked to the little puppet girl she had managed to make. It shifted between the greatly disfigure form, Caesar, and Guderian at random, and popped up whenever it felt like it.
"I only show up when you're bored~." The mutilated child whined, tilting her head in place of pouting.
"Everyone always tells me to ignore people who encourage my bad thoughts, so I'm going to ignore you." Erwin muttered, going back to summoning small balls of white and green fire.
"Haven't you ever wondered what it's like to kill someone?"
Erwin looked to the imaginary girl, remaining quiet. The blond suddenly stood and walked towards her door, pulling it open forcefully. "Okay! That's enough alone time for me, I need a walk." Erwin began her brisk walk away from her room to try and clear her mind of whatever violent thoughts were lurking in the back.
Of course, these people gave me power. Who says I can't use it to help myself? Erwin shook her head. Bad thought. Very bad thought. Very, Very, VERY bad thought. Responsibility and power and all that. She had friends who cared about her, and who she cared about. They would not be happy with her thoughts, if they could hear them. Erwin only stopped when someone grabbed her arm roughly, nearly making her fall as she was spun around.
It was one of the soldiers. "Hey there little lady! Where are you off to?"
Oh boy. "I'm just wondering. I like to do that when I need air and a way to hear my own thoughts." Erwin hissed, glaring at the soldier. She was not in the mood to be flirted with, especially by someone who was probably three times her age.
"Well, you won't mind if I walk with you, will you?"
"Actually I will mind." Erwin huffed, trying to pull her arm away. Key word being trying; her arm did not come free however, instead the soldier's grip tightened.
"Now, now, I insist." Erwin didn't actually have a choice in this matter it seemed. With a huff, the blond girl let the soldier walk around with her, though anytime he tried to talk she gave the minimal required effort to respond. She had wanted to think by herself and not have to deal with external - or questionably sourced - input. Even then, he had nothing to say that would interest her or amuse her in the slightest.
As they arrived back at her room, she turned to him. "Well, that was an interesting walk, but I am feeling a little tired, so if you don't mind, I'd like to take a nap." Erwin spun back around sharply and opened her door, walking inside and slamming it shut.
Except it didn't slam.
Erwin turned back around to see the soldier had grabbed her door and was walking into her room. "What the actual fuck?!" She screeched, her ears falling flat against her head as her tail lashed angrily. "Get the ever loving FUCK out of my room!" she spat, pointing to her door as she bared her teeth. She probably did not look intimidating at all considering how much shorter she was, but by god was she going to try!
The soldier smirked and walked further into her room, closing the door behind him. Erwin heard him lock it as they both locked eyes.
Oh HELL no. Erwin growled, both to herself and at the soldier. The soldier just walked closer, opening his arms. He was still smiling. Erwin suddenly let out a deafening scream and swiped a hand at the soldier, trying to scratch him or something before darting away. She didn't know for sure what she was doing at all, but the one thing she did know was that she was not going to stop screaming. The soldier rolled his eyes at her antics, deciding that being nice was overrated he lowered his arms and began storming over to her.
Only to be stopped by a blur of brown hair and claws. The soldier's own cries joined Erwin's incessant screaming as she watched the creature she had created tear him to shreds; or rather tried to watch. They both were moving too fast for the blond to actually see what they were doing. It was only when a gun went off that Erwin stopped screaming and looked at her leg.
Fuck. The bastard shot her. It took Erwin a minute to register the pain and then register that gravity was a thing and she had been shot. Her puppet disappeared as she collapsed on the floor, fear and pain being the only two thoughts to enter her mind. The soldier smiled as he saw her laying on the floor, holding her leg and whistling quietly with her ears folded back, staring up at him with fear. He knew he would get in trouble for shooting her, but she looked so pretty, and he just wanted to have some fun. He began walking towards her again, only to freeze as he continued to stare at her.
Her pupils were a pale blue.
He took out his gun and prepared to fire again. Erwin covered her ears and closed her eyes as she prepared to be shot again.
"Fräulein!"
Erwin looked up as her shoulders were grabbed and she was pulled off the floor. Schrödinger was here. Never before was she so happy to see the cat boy. Erwin immediately hugged Schrödinger, not even registering the other people who were in the room. At least not until a medical kit was dropped in front of her by the Captain. The Major was standing by a scorch mark on the floor along with the Doctor and Zorin, but Rip was nowhere to be seen.
"Fräulein, why were you crying?"
Erwin looked back to Schrödinger. She hadn't been crying. The blond girl rubbed her eyes and jumped as her hand came away damp. She had been crying. Why? Erwin shook her head. "I…don't know."
"Either way. How did this burn mark get on your floor, and who shot you?" The Doctor demanded, crossing his arms and looking like he was about to unleash hell on the world. He probably was, but Erwin found herself too dazed to care.
She looked at the spot more closely. That had been where…
Erwin looked up to the Doctor. "It was a soldier."
The speckled man rolled his eyes. "Well obviously, now where is he? Did you get his name? His rank? Anything?!"
Erwin pointed to the scorch mark. "It was him."
The Doctor looked at the burned metal. Everyone did. Realization dawned on their faces as it sank it exactly what Erwin was implying. Schrödinger looked back at her, almost looking scared. "How did you-"
"I don't know." Erwin interrupted. She had no idea how she turned a fully-grown vampire soldier into a small scorch mark, but she did. Somehow. It actually scared her. She knew kitsune were tricksters, and some could control fire, but this was beyond anything she had ever read about or heard of. She had no way to research what was going on with her, but she was sure it wasn't good.
Somebody help this poor fox girl. She has poor impulse control, makes poor choices, and now she has fire powers and is being influenced by cosmic energies. Dark cosmic energies no less. Sorry not much happened in this chapter, but I kind of wanted to show that Erwin is struggling with her powers and only thinks she has total control.
