Her voice rises in anger.
"I know it's someone you trust! Don't lie! Listen, Logan! One of your friends –one of my friends- is trying to kill my husband and I don't like it! They blame him for Tora's death!"
And Logan's voice, dead with grief.
"And?"
There's the sound of a slap. Tan's mad.
"And I've already lost him once! You man up for once and face what happened! Yes, she's dead! Yes, I miss her too. But I've managed to move on. You think she'd want you to spend the rest of your life grieving for her! No, she said 'remember me'! Remember me as I was, remember me fondly, remember all the good times but don't refuse to move on!"
And Logan is silent. Etana curses at him then there's more silence.
"You feel that! Feel it! That's my child and I speak for Tora when I say that she wouldn't want another child to grow up with only one parent because of a senseless feud! You snap out of this, else I will personally drag you to the Afterlife and let Tora slap some sense into you!"
"You could do that?!"
"Yes, but I won't."
"Tan…"
"Listen, Logan. She's content. She is dead and she accepts that. Maybe you should too."
"It's alright for you! You can go and see her any time you please!"
"No, Logan, I can't."
"But…"
"The Malach Hamavet can. And we're two entirely separate entities. Think the Ghost Rider. I can't control it. It can't control me. All I can do is access the memories of what it does. To be able to properly meet Tora, I'll have to die. And I don't plan on dying anytime soon."
Logan suddenly screams in anger.
"YOU THINK THIS IS EASY FOR ME! I CAN'T COPE, TAN! NOT WITHOUT HER!"
And then Tan's voice, icy-cold.
"I raised you to be better than this, Logan. And in case you don't remember, I had to carry a child and give birth, alone but for Tora and believing my husband dead. You're not the only one who's lost a loved one. So. Grow. Some. Backbone. And. Pay. Attention. To. Your. Kids!"
She storms out, looking thunderous. Great, she's going to be in a bad mood all night and Logan won't be very friendly either. I walk in and freeze. He's in his chair, his face streaked with tears, head in his hands.
"Logan…?"
He looks up in horror then sighs.
"Sit down. Hell, everything's going wrong. I need Tora more than ever and then Tan comes in and accuses one of my friends of trying to kill you."
"Logan, are you alright?"
He laughs bitterly.
"My wife was murdered and I can't even hunt down her killers. How do you think I am?"
And I can't answer that.
