Mercedes sat at her desk, staring at the small velvet box on her desk. She had no idea how her life decided to repeat itself; her mind wandered back to the last thing Sam had said to her a week ago.

"My old Alma mater back home, they want me to come on as Headmaster. It's great money and a dream job. But it's in Nashville. I am willing to give it up, but only if I know we have a future. So tell me right now, do we have a future, Mercedes?"

"Yes, Sam! Yes, we have a future, but-"

"No buts Mercedes. You either want this, or you don't."

"Sam, I want this; I really want this more than anything." She said, moving towards him. "Sam, you have my heart."

"Just not your life, right?"

Mercedes pulled Sam close to her. "Sam, you told me that you were all in. You knew what this was the moment we started this."

"I didn't think I would spend my whole life waiting for you."

Mercedes turned his head towards hers as she stared up at him. "You won't."

Sam leaned down and kissed her, pulling her closer to him. "If you mean that, then move in with me."

"You can't just ask me to change my life and expect an answer right now." She defended.

"Mercedes, all I am asking is that you choose me. I see a future with you; I want to marry you. I want to have a family with you."

Mercedes stared at him, leaning in and placing her forehead against his. "Sam…I-" She stopped as her phone rang. Hitting ignore, she looked back at Sam. But it rang again.

"Don't answer it; please, just let's finish this."

"It's Jesse, Sam. I have to answer." She said, answering the phone. Sam rolled his eyes, moving away from her. As she hung up, he ran his hands through his hair.

"I have to go to work." She said, walking to his room.

"Of course you do." Sam said bitterly.

"Sam, don't be like that!" She said, walking closer to him.

"No? What am I supposed to be like? Every time we try to talk, every time I bring up our relationship, you either distract me with sex or you leave."

Mercedes closed her eyes as she finished getting dressed. "You act like I don't want to be with you, Sam. I have a job; I have responsibilities."

Sam nodded. "And I am not a priority on that list, Mercedes!"

"Sam…"

"Either stay and talk to me, or don't bother calling me again."

"I have to go to work, Sam! It's my job."

Sam nodded. "Then go."

"Sam…please don't walk out on me."

He shook his head, walking over to her. He placed his forehead against hers and closed his eyes. "I could have loved you forever." He said, grabbing her hand, placing a small box in it, then closing her fingers around it. He moved to kiss her forehead before pulling away. "Goodbye, Mercedes."

Mercedes watched as Sam walked out the door, slamming it, the scene reminding her of what happened with Anthony, but this felt ten times worse. Looking down at the small box in her hand, she couldn't bring herself to open it. She wanted to wait for him, but she did have to go to work. After arriving at the office, she tried calling him, but he didn't answer. He didn't answer any of her calls or texts.

Mercedes sighed, rubbing her temples; she hadn't heard from Sam since. She tried to reach him, but he wasn't talking to her. Someone knocked on her door, and Mercedes looked up to see Sebastian standing there.

"Hey, Bas? What are you doing here?"

He shrugged. "Figured you could use a pick me up. You've been pretty down since you came home from Sam's."

She looked away from him. "I am fine."

"No, you aren't. You've been avoiding me and everyone who asks you what happened. Could you talk to me, Merce? Please."

Mercedes sighed. "What do you want me to say, Bas? Sam asked something of me, and I couldn't answer him, and now he's probably getting ready to go to Nashville and forget all about me."

"Okay, you need to start at the beginning." Sebastian said, sitting in front of her.

Mercedes put her hand down on the table before going to the desk and pulling out the small box.

"Merce?" Sebastian questioned. "Is that a ring?"

She sighed as she looked over at him with tears in her eyes. "I don't know…maybe…I haven't been able to open it."

Sebastian shook his head. "What? Why?"

She looked up to him. "He asked me to move in with him, and I just..."

Sebastian sighed, "Ah yeah… I've had the fight with Blaine a few times…if I am being honest, we had this fight this weekend…he asked me if I ever saw marrying him…I just wish he could understand."

She shook his head, "But should they have to understand Bas? We love them; we want a future with them…so why can't we say the thing we both should be saying?"

"Is that what you want? To get…to"

She looked at him. "Do you want to marry Blaine?"

Sebastian sighed. "I want to marry Blaine but still live with you and the kids. I don't want to change my life because I am in love with him. I love my kids, and I love being home with them. But I know you do too. But it's not fair to ask Blaine to do this."

Mercedes nodded. "I know. I want to be with him; I want to marry him. But I don't want things to change either. What is wrong with me?"

"You mean us? What is wrong with us?"

"Sam said we use each other as a crutch." She wiped her eyes. "Maybe I should let him go…."

"Or maybe we should let each other go?" Sebastian said.

Mercedes sighed. "I don't want to do either. I don't want to ruin the life we have created for our kids, but I also don't want to lose Sam; he's my world."

Sebastian sat back in the chair. "Merce, we were there for each other since we were kids. It's been you and me against the world. We chose duty to family and over love. We did the duty part. Now maybe we choose to love."

"He walked out of the house, slamming the door like Anthony did. And I…it was more devastating, crushing…it was heartbreaking because watching him walk away…." She couldn't even finish.

Sebastian nodded, standing as he pulled her into a hug. "I am sorry, but the difference now is we have a chance to change things."

She leaned against him. "How? He hates me."

"No, he doesn't. He loves you. Now what we are going to do is get them back."

Mercedes stood tall and grabbed a tissue. "I really hope we haven't lost them."

"We haven't…and we won't lose each other; we have the land, we have the money, we can expand where we each get our space, but we still have our own lives."

"So we build another house on our land? Do you think they would agree to that?"

Sebastian shrugged. "Only one way to find out." He got down on one knee. "Mercedes Jones-Smythe. I love you; you are my best friend and someone I can't live without. Will you do me the honor of divorcing me so we can marry our boyfriends?"

Mercedes laughed, shaking her head. "Yes, a million times yes." She hugged him. "You sure you are okay?"

He nodded. "I am. We can file today to be divorced by the end of the week."

"You would really marry Blaine?"

Sebastian nodded. "I would. You would marry Sam?"

"I would. I love him. I don't want to lose him."

"So, let's do something about it. Let's get our men back."

Sam sat at his desk as a knock sounded. He looked up to see Sebastian walking into his classroom.

"What are you doing here?"

Sebastian held up a letter and offered him a soft smile. "Special delivery."

Sam looked away from him. "If she was going to break up with me, then she could have at least done it to my face."

"Sam.." Sebastian moved to sit in front of him. "Mercedes has spent her entire life doing what was best for everyone but herself. She had her heart broken because she chose duty over love. Mercedes will forever try to be someone everyone wants her to be instead of who she wants to be."

"Why are you telling me this?" Sam asked.

Sebastian sighed heavily as he placed the letter on the table. "Read it." He said before he stood up and walked out of the classroom. Sam looked after him and frowned as he looked down at the letter.

As the kids walked into the room, he sighed; he would worry about what it said later. But as the day went on, his eyes drifted over to it, and by the time the class exited, he had grabbed it, about ready to rip it open.

"I see you got a letter too." came from behind him.

He turned behind him and frowned, seeing Blaine. "What brings you by?"

Blaine held up the letter. "When Mercedes stopped by my office and handed me this, I was pretty sure that if she was coming to me, then Bas was coming to you."

Sam ran his hand through his hair. "Did you read it?"

He shook his head. "No. I don't know if I want to. But I miss him, and if this is an olive branch and I don't open it…."

"Then you miss out?" He finished. "I know. I miss her so much."

Sam twirled the letter. "Fuck it." ripping it open, he frowned.

"What is it?"

Sam held it up. "It's an invitation. You are cordially invited to divorce proceedings of Mercedes and Sebastian Smythe."

"Holy shit." Blaine said, ripping his open. "They want us there by eight. Is this for real?"

Sam sat back in his chair, staring at the invitation. "I don't…I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up. Is this a divorce that we still have to wait two years for? Is this just a way to get us to talk to them?"

"Do you want a future with Mercedes?"

Sam shrugged. "I know I love her. But…dammit, she keeps…I just…ugh! Why does she have this power over me?"

Blaine laughed. "I ask the same thing about Bas."

Sam eyed the invitation as he continued to read. "It's tonight, they want us to meet them at this address, but I am not sure where it is."

Blaine used his phone to look up the address. "Looks like it's an airfield. What are they planning?"

"Well, we can show up and see, or we can stand them up and let whatever they have planned just fall to the wayside."

Blaine nodded. "I guess we have a decision to make."

Mercedes paced the airfield as the workers finished setting everything up. She and Sebastian had decided that they wanted to make sure Blaine and Sam knew how much they cared and how much they wanted to make it work.

"You okay, mom?" Josh asked, taking her hand.

Mercedes smiled, taking a breath. "I am fine; I just want all this to go well."

"It will, Mom. Sam loves you, and Blaine loves Dad."

Mercedes ran her hands over his head, kissing it. "When did you get so grown and smart?"

"I mean, I may look like Dad, but I am your son."

Mercedes laughed. She and Sebastian sat the kids down last week and explained everything to them; she was surprised at how they reacted. However, she shouldn't have been. They were understanding. Both of them loved Sam and Blaine and said they would love it if Sam and Blaine became their stepfathers.

They asked if they would all live in the same house. Since they sat on six acres of land, there would be no issue with them building another house on the land. They had already planned on adding a basketball court for Josh and two treehouses for summer.

Mercedes was happy the kids understood and liked both men; it meant that they could be one happy family.

"Mom, you know what would be cool? If you build a tunnel underground so that in winter, we could go back and forth and not be cold." Josh said, taking her out of her thoughts.

"Oh, will that be cool?"

He nodded. "It would! We can even build like a laser tag game under it."

Mercedes laughed. "No, we don't want kids getting lost underground. So we will think about the tunnel, which I agree is cool, and then we will take some of the land and make a game zone for you and your friends. Maybe a maze; you can do water guns or the laster tags."

Josh grew excited. "Yes! Thank you, Mom." He hugged her.

"Don't get too excited; we have to figure out something for your sister too."

"I know, I know."

Josh ran off to help his dad as she moved toward Zola. "Hey Zo, you okay?"

She nodded. "Are they going to come, Mom?"

Mercedes nodded. "I hope so." She said. But this place looks really great, doesn't it?"

They both looked around; there was a red carpet leading up to the plane; the length of the aircraft had a banner on it. Mercedes and Zola wore red dresses. Zola's was puffed short sleeves and falling just below her calves with a sheer shirt, kind of like a tutu. While Mercedes's red dress was a spaghetti-strapped sweetheart neckline. Her dress also fell to her ankles, with two slips up to her thighs.

Both Sebastian and Josh wore black slacks with a red shirt and black tie. Mercedes wore her hair in curls that fell over her shoulders, and Zola wore curls with a bow.

Sebastian walked over to them and exhaled deeply. "Okay, so Mason has the flight plan, the hotel suite is set up, and now we wait. We asked them to get here around eight, and its quarter til."

Mercedes nodded as the minutes ticked away. She tried her best not to feel nervous, but as time ticked, she was scared they wouldn't show.

Once quarter past eight hits, she felt her heart drop. They missed out on Sam and Blaine, and it was no one's fault but hers and Sebastian's. She looked down at the kids and sighed.

"Hey, how about you go grab the signs inside."

They nod and run inside. Sebastian walked over to her. "It's okay; we knew they may not come."

"I know I just. I wanted to tell him I was sorry and that he is my one."

"You are mine too." Sam said.

Mercedes and Sebastian turned to see Sam and Blaine walking in with Zola holding both of their hands.

"Sam…you came?" She rushed towards him and wrapped her arms around him.

Sebastian pulled Blaine to him, hugging him close. "I'm so sorry."

"I know." Blaine replied.

"Look at the banner!" Zola said as she and Josh pulled Sam and Blaine from their parents and to the plane.

Two sets of eyes widened as they looked over to the banner that said, "Will you marry us" and then back to Mercedes and Sebastian.

"Is this for real?" Sam asked.

Mercedes exhaled and turned to Sam. "I heard you, and if I have to choose you or my marriage, well…." She turned to Sebastian, who gave her a piece of paper. She handed it to Sam, whose eyes widened.

"You're divorced?"

"Yeah." She nodded.

"How it's only been four weeks?" Sam said looking at her.

"We had good lawyers, and we both come from money. We have no issues. Everything was already separated. We just needed to make it official."

Sebasiant looked at Mercedes and smiled with a nod. They both got down on one knee.

"Blaine, you are the love of my life. And I know I hurt you. But it wasn't intentional."

"Sam…you are my heart, my life, and I can't spend the rest of my life without you. I love you soo."

They both pulled out small boxes. Blaine's eyes widened as his hands went to his mouth.

Sam fell to his knee and took the box from Mercedes. "Did you open this?"

She shook her head. "I didn't want to without you."

Sam opened it, revealing a princess-cut three-carat diamond engagement ring. "It was my grandmother."

The kids looked at them and smiled widely. "Does this mean you will marry us?" Zola asked.
