Chosen 1.4

Walking around the boardwalk is Taylor with the wind hitting her face and causing her face to scrunch up a bit but she didn't mind it. She felt free for the first time in what felt like centuries. Blackwall put up a fight about it but after Danny threatened him with legal actually, he was willing to let Taylor leave the school thinking that she was just making up the allegations or that she was secretly becoming a gang member or something.

If Taylor didn't dislike Blackwall before she certain hated the man now for how easily he was dismissing everything and the fact that he had the nerve to imply that the locker incident was an accident and that she somehow locked herself in it.

"Hard to believe that all of this is actually happening." Taylor said to herself since a bit of time had passed since being released from her former school as she walked the boardwalk with no real destination in mind and was simply having a light but still fast paced walk. She had looked up multiple home exercise routines and thanks to her unique powers she managed to gain some extra muscle since she can push herself harder than normal by simply resting and waiting for her Fatigue debuff to wear off.

"Maybe I could actually try taking on a dungeon pretty soon." Taylor said to herself with a small smirk on her face. The fact that she was exercising and getting an education without negative social interactions has helped Taylor gain a bit more confidence. "Nah. I'd better not overestimate myself or anything." Taylor said to herself while she kept walking and saw that the boardwalk was still being repaired from the damage that she had a hand in which made her feel a bit responsible for the workers sour attitudes before she noticed something strange by an abandoned store.

"This is not a good idea." Taylor said to herself while she walked towards the strange site and soon saw that she was alone behind an abandoned store and after grabbing the open back door she opened it and saw what looked like a black swirling vortex.

You are about to enter the [Lair of the Captain] Dungeon! Recommended level 10-15!

Would you like to enter? Y/N?

"So, this is what the entrance to a dungeon actually looks like." Taylor said to herself, and the dungeon had a strange name that might be a hint of what to expect. Her father's words rang in her head but considering the low-level requirements Taylor thought that she could take the initiative and get stronger and prove that she knows what she is doing even if she is just improvising.

So, after making sure that nobody was looking in her direction, she equipped her copper armor and boar helmet along with a short sword sheathed to her side as she entered the dungeon and not only saw the door close behind her, but she also saw that she was no longer in the abandoned store or boardwalk.

Instead, Taylor found herself in what looked like a stone cabin with nothing but a bonfire in the center of it as new words appeared in front of her face.

You have entered the [Lair of the Captain] Dungeon!

You must slay the boss to escape!

"Well alright than." Taylor said as she readied her short sword in her right hand before walking out of the door of the cabin and saw that she is in what looks like a village with a massive pirate ship in the distance and the ground is soaked in inch high water.

"I'm guessing this place has a pirate theme or something." Taylor said to herself before she started carefully walking past a few of the cabins made from stone before spotting her first enemy appear. The enemy came from behind the corner of a building and was dressed in an old school pirate outfit from stories and movies but his skin is decayed and he is sporting a cutlass blade and a flintlock with both of them attached to his hip.

Taylor didn't hesitate before rushing the zombie and thrusting her sword into its brain which killed it and allowed her to absorb the soul energy as well as gain some loot.

1x Cutlass

1x Flintlock

13x Black Powder

11x 54. Caliber Smoothbore

"Neat." Taylor said as the items rested in her Inventory and sure enough a few more pirates showed up and Taylor didn't have time to rest as she started fighting the pirates who luckily weren't good shots and missed hitting her as she zoomed past them and killed them with her sword which got her more weapons, ammo, black powder and miscellaneous items.

"What am I going to do with this?" Taylor asked herself after slaying another pirate. The loot she got looked to be some kind of charm or something involving voodoo. The item is a white and red fish made from cloth and straw with a leather band sewed into the tail of the fish so it can either be held by the strap or worm around a person's neck and when Taylor put it in her Inventory, she saw that it wasn't a normal item.

Item

Name: Fisherman's Catalyst

Rank: Uncommon

Description: This is a Faith based Catalyst created by fisherman who wished to be blessed by the god of the sea and received small miracles as a result.

Requirements: 12 Faith

Effects: Used to cast Miracles/Boost Miracle effects near or in areas of water.

Durability: 45/45

End

"I guess I'll be keeping this but what is a Miracle some type of spell?" Taylor wondered before she thought about her faith stat and wondered if there really and truly was a all-powerful god watching her before another thought came to mind. The item description said that a god of the sea would bless fishermen so does that mean that multiple gods exist?

"Whoa." Taylor said before narrowly evading a jet of water from hitting her as she looked to the north and saw what basically looks like a humanoid fishman. Its standing on two legs with two arms and hands but it is covered in yellow scales with the head of a fish and is wielding a staff that looks like it is made out of bones with the tip of the staff being a fish skull.

Taylor saw the fishman mumble something as water appeared and swirled around the staff tip before it fired five jets of condensed water at Taylor who ducked under and rushed the fishman who was surprisingly fragile but sadly it didn't drop any loot. However, it did give her enough souls to level up.

You have levelled up! Level: 6-7!

All of your HP, SP and MP has been fully restored!

"Finally." Taylor said before looking down at her short sword and how it was slick with blood which made her a bit confused. Not because she didn't expect blood, but she was confused because of how unresponsive she was to it. She didn't like killing and she wouldn't want to willing kill a person, but these monsters aren't people but even with that said. Taylor was wondering if something was wrong with her for not feeling something more. She didn't feel regret or sorrow and instead she just didn't think about these monsters in any kind of light other than monsters who need to be put down.

"Am I fucked up?" Taylor asked herself before she looked around and saw that she had been moving decently fast and was getting closer to the massive ship. "Before I move, I should do what dad said. In a dungeon you shouldn't always go for the objective right away and instead you should take your time and look around for bonuses, treasure or NPC's." Taylor said to herself before she did just that and started searching the nearby houses and sure enough, she ended up finding a treasure chest in one of the houses.

"I guess I know why some pirates dropped keys." Taylor said as to herself since the pirates dropped a few random and identical keys which Taylor was confused by but now that she unlocked a treasure chest, she was happy and took her reward.

Item

Name: Axe Mastery Skill Book!

Rank: Common

Description: This skill book is used to learn how to fight with any kind of axe.

End

"I guess this gives me the excuse to use my Gargoyle Axe now instead of letting it gather dust in my Inventory." Taylor said as she immediately used the skill book before replacing her short sword with her axe which was too heavy and tricky to use single handedly, but she made it work with two hands.

"I guess I've got to exercise more to meet the stat requirements for this thing." Taylor said before storing the weapon away. She would use it but not right now. In any case Taylor equipped a short sword in her right hand and her laser pistol in the left so that she can start taking this dungeon seriously and thankfully Taylor had remembered to keep the pistol charged and now it can do some serious damage.

"To the boss fight." Taylor said before she left and headed towards the giant ship while having to kill a few more pirates and fishman before seeing some kind of pully system on the side of the ship when she approached it.

One canoe was tied with rope to the ship and next to it was a similar canoe, but it was elevated to the rail of the ship's main deck.

"Let's go." Taylor said before she stepped on the downed canoe and felt it shake before it started rising thanks to the ropes attached to it as Taylor saw the other canoe descend and sure enough the canoe came at a stop at the deck where she saw the main boss of this place waiting for her.

The boss looked like a pirate captain from a movie. He is wearing an overly dramatic pirate themed outfit with a wide triangular hat on his head with dirty black hair coming out of the bottom of the hat and framing his face. He has a physically built body with six flintlocks strapped across the front of his chest with two cutlass blades on either side of his waist and he looks to be undead like the other pirates, but he has a large white beard.

"Ha! Looks like ma' motley crew got taken out by a lass half their age! Not a surprise considering they ain't really ma' crewmates anymore." The pirate said loudly and for some reason Taylor thought that the pirate wasn't an enemy.

"Who are you?" Taylor asked in a serious tone with her weapons ready.

"The name's Neil Beard. Ma' mama wasn't too bright with names. I'm a chosen like you lass but I've got a few good years on you. Then again thanks to getting ma' ass cursed I'm not looking like a spring sausage anymore." Neil said as Taylor raised an eyebrow behind her helmet and took a few steps closer to him.

"Prove you're a chosen like me." Taylor said as Neil had no issue and unfastened some of the belts of the top half of his outfit and raised it to show the circular mark on his stomach, but his mark now has visible flames coming out of it.

"Gnarly ain't it. Yours will look like this after you get a few good battles under your belt lass so don't fret none." Neil said with a hearty laugh as he fixed his clothes.

"Are you the boss monster here?" Taylor asked before Neil sat down with his legs crossed.

"Nope. I actually came here to kill the bastard, but I can't do it myself. The boss is pretty elusive for a damn slug. I fight with grit and brute force lass and that ain't a match for this foe." Neil said as Taylor was still suspicious of the man but was willing to give him a chance since he was marked like she was.

"Do you need help?" Taylor asked as she took another step closer as Neil stood up.

"Well, if ya don't mind splitting the soul's we earned for killing the bastard I don't mind one bit. But there is a problem lass. That slug is heavily resistant to physical damage I'm afraid and despite my strength I don't have a good way to hurt the thing since I ain't no spell caster." Neil said honestly before Taylor then recalled that she had her own spells.

"I can handle the damage if that's the case." Taylor said back as the man let out another laugh.

"Wonderful." Neil before standing up and stretching a bit before he grabbed one of his flintlocks and fired it at the ground and when he did Taylor saw that the bullet didn't look normal and instead looked like a mix of black and white colors blending together and when he did that the entire ship started shaking.

"What the hell?" Taylor asked in shock.

"Here it comes." Neil said loudly before the boss burst through the floor of the deck near the edge where the canoes were, and Taylor saw the enemy that she was going to fight.

The monster was the size of a house and has a fat body of wrinkled and flabby skin with a fish like face and two flaps near its face and tail to act like flippers to help it move.

"Ew!" Taylor screamed in disgust as the creature landed on the deck and loudly wailed at both Neil and herself.

"It's time for you to finally die you slug looking piece of shit!" Neil shouted as he grabbed another one of his flintlocks and fired both at the monster confusing Taylor since she at least knew that flintlocks needed to be reloaded before firing another round but she didn't both thinking about it before she fired her laser pistol at the beast as well.

The beast couldn't really reach either of them since they took wide steps back and away if the monster got to close or lobbed balls of green slime at them.

"How did you not kill this thing earlier?" Taylor asked as she got near Neil.

"The first phase ain't a problem. It's the second phase where things go to shit lass." Neil said back before the beast let out another wail before its back suddenly split open and coming out of its back is a person.

This person looks similar to Neil, but his outfit is a stark blue and instead of various weapons he has one weapon which looks to be a great sword made from fish bones as the flesh of the worm like monster grossly sticks to his skin and he didn't even look undead.

"He is a weak chosen, but he gained a rare skill to control monsters like puppets and has insane physical resistances." Neil said with narrowed eyes as the pirate captain chuckled before stepping out of the corpse.

"I've entertained your pitiful attempts long enough Neil. Now prepare to die." The pirate said without even paying any attention to Taylor who was now hesitating and wondering if she could actually kill this boss since he appeared to be human.

"Don't space out on me now lass!" Neil shouted before firing his pistols at the pirate who used his sword to block the bullets while Taylor fired her pistol and hit the pirate's shoulder making him hiss in pain.

"Little bitch!" The pirate shouted before swinging his sword in Taylor's direction as he fired sharpened bones from the blade that Taylor barely avoided as a sharp bone managed to hit her armored chest dealing damage but luckily, they didn't hurt too badly.

"Ok let's try a new tactic." Taylor said before she sheathed her pistol and sword that she wasn't using before she took out her Green Wizard Power Staff that she also fully charged in the sunlight before she rushed towards the pirate captain.

"Brave but foolish." The pirate captain said before charging at Taylor as well and slammed his sword down towards her as Taylor used the staff to block the strike which did damage the staff a bit but not nearly enough to stop it from working as Taylor hit the correct button and activated the flash. She closed her eyes before hand but judging from both men letting out a shriek of pain Taylor knew it worked as she quickly stashed the staff away before taking out her Gargoyle Axe and she closed the distance before slicing the pirate captain with the axe cutting through his clothes and dealing a lot of damage.

Now that wouldn't have worked if this was a normal axe, but the Gargoyle Axe not only dealt physical damage, but it also dealt necrotic damage and Taylor saw the proof of that as the wound looked pretty bad. It was slow moving but Taylor saw black streaks come from the world which meant that the necrotic damage was spreading.

"Fucking bitch! I'll kill you where you stand and when I'm done, I'll find your loved one's and use them as my new flesh puppets!" The pirate shouted and crossed the line as Taylor used her axe again and slashed at the pirate's hands holding the bone great sword and released spurts of blood from his exposed wrists and thankfully Taylor had seen that this guy wasn't human.

His blood was blue, and his bones didn't look normal before his appearance started to morph into a more fish like appearance.

"Looks like all that physical resistance your god gave you turned out to be useless when you lack skill." Neil said as his vision had returned while the pirate fishman was still blind as he thrashed around trying to bite and kick at Taylor and Neil before Taylor fished him off with a powerful swing and took off his head.

"Looks like you've found your way-out lass." Neil said before a portal appeared in front of Taylor and that portal seemed to be the way out of the dungeon.

"What about you?" Taylor asked before he sat down.

"There's nothin' left for me here so I'm gonna make my way to the great shrine. You'll see me again soon enough since a lass like you will no doubt be summoned there. I just hope that a person there will have a spare purging stone for me so I can rid myself of this foul curse." Neil said with a yawn.

"Here." Taylor said as she quickly took out her purging stone and handed it to Neil as Taylor looked at it and saw that it looked like a square piece of black stone with a skull in the center of it.

"Are you sure lass? Something like this goes for a lot of souls in the shrine." Neil said as Taylor shrugged.

"It's fine. I'm sure I'll find another one soon enough and for what it's worth I do hope we see each other again. You seem pretty nice for a zombie." Taylor said jokingly as Neil rolled his eyes before focusing intensely on the stone before crushing it as it burst into a cloud of white smoke that covered his body and when the smoke cleared Taylor saw that Neil had been restored.

His decaying skin was now fresh and clean looking and showed that he was Caucasian and his hair and beard gained a dark brown color. Even his eyes become more lively and now where a bright blue.

"By the old gods and the new I feel like a fresh babe out of the womb." Neil said with a bright smile of shining white teeth. "You again have my thanks lass. Till we meet again." Neil said before a different portal emerged in front of him that he didn't hesitate to walk through and sure enough Taylor unequipped her gear and went through her own portal and exited the abandoned building and sure enough when she looked back and tried to open the door she saw a new message.

This dungeon has been cleared and can not be entered again since the dimension has now been destroyed!

After reading the message Taylor saw the insides of the ruined building as a normal and vacant place which actually made her smile a bit since she at least stopped someone else from wandering into a dangerous dungeon and now after that experience Taylor started making her way home and would no doubt get chewed out by her dad for what she did even if she ended up saving a person's life.

End!

A/N: Okay another chapter for Taylor has been finished and now she made a new pirate friend and got some pretty interesting loot as a reward. She is slowly but surely getting stronger and who knows where that will lead her.

When it comes to the souls games the way you play the game is the way you are meant to play them, and Taylor is slowly finding her playstyle through trial and error.

Anyway, please fav, follow and review.
