Something Unforgettable
At Pine Hollow that same day, Veronica, Stevie, Carole, and Lisa were having their jumping lesson taught by Red.
Veronica had already taken her turn so now, it was Stevie who was up.
Lisa was humming to herself, the same lively melody she, Stevie, and Carole heard only a few nights earlier.
When Carole was through jumping, it was finally Lisa's turn.
"Lisa!" Red said for the third time.
Lisa who was sitting in the saddle humming to herself the tune she had heard, jumped a little.
"Yes, Red?" Lisa asked innocently.
"It's your turn," Red reminded Lisa. "a few jumps, remember?"
"Oh yes, sorry!" Lisa said quickly, she and Prancer quickly moved from the line to the starting position.
Veronica just rolled her eyes and sniffed arrogantly, "Pathetic!" she snorted.
"Shut up Veronica!" Stevie and Carole snapped, almost in unison.
"All right, girls," Red said over his shoulder as he watch Lisa's jumping. "that's enough!"
"Sorry, Red." Stevie and Carole sighed in unison.
After the jumping lesson, Red found Lisa in the tack room putting Prancer's tack away.
"Lisa, you have seemed distracted today," Red said gently. "is everything okay?"
"Oh yes, yes," Lisa said. "it's nothing, really."
Red nodded and let the matter drop, though he didn't seem completely convinced.
A few minutes later, Lisa joined the others in the lounge just as Drew stood with a new student, ready to introduce him.
"Everyone, this is Neville Cowlin, he comes to us all the way from the Arrow Wood Riding Academy," Drew introduced. "let's all do our best to make him feel welcome at Pine Hollow."
Lisa, Stevie, Carole, and Phil were not buying Neville's "nice guy" act even for a minute.
Back at the circus grounds, Carmen saw Carmina and Rafael packing a few of their belongings.
"What's going on, Mother?" Carmen asked Carmina, she was curious.
