A cloud of dust flew through the air. A grunt was heard in the cloud as well as a large quantity of cursing.
A young girl jumped out of the dust, landing in a crouch with a kunia held out in front of her. Suddenly a head shot out after her snapping its teeth. She kicked it and it shattered into splinters.
"Yes!" She grinned watching as her brother angrily stomped over to her.
"Temari! I told you to stop breaking my puppets!" He pulled out a kunia of his own and began to run at her.
She smirked. With his puppets he might have stood a chance, but without them she was the stronger one.
She kicked the kunia and pulled out a fan. Twisting the fan in a circle she shot her brother across the ground.
"Sorry Kankuro, maybe next time!"
He stood up and grabbed his broken weapon. Then he stormed off to go repair it. Temari watched him as he left felling slightly guilty. He'd never hear the end of it if he ever damaged any of her fans.
She'd make it up to him she promised herself as she packed up her things.
She walked down the street searching for a good 'Sorry I destroyed your puppet that you asked me to go easy on' gift. She looked in a booth examining a box of scrolls. She rolled her eyes, Kankuro would probably ignore her for a least a month if she got him something to read. She turned looking for another table when she noticed someone yelling.
"Get out of here! Your not welcome in this place!" An angry voice shouted. Temari watched as a red blur flew past her. She felt guilty for some reason as Gaara turned a corner.
'Man, I'm just worlds guiltiest sister today aren't I?' She groaned internally. 'Great, now I need two gifts.'
Temari looked at the next set of items. What did Gaara like anyway? She bought a set of tiny razors thinking Kankuro could use them on his one of his newest creations. After a few more hours of searching she gave up on Gaaras gift and headed home.
'It's not like he even noticed me standing there anyway, right?' She thought as she walked in the door. Kankuro was in his room with the door locked. She left her gift outside the door. Her stomach suddenly groaned and she realized she hadn't eaten yet. Walking into the kitchen she flipped on the dim light and opened the fridge.
'Hmm...' She pulled out some leftover rice and popped it into the microwave. It beeped loudly and she turned around with her food to sit at the table.
'Damn, I better not get a stomach ache tonight. I never eat this late.' She thought annoyed.
She'd only taken a few bites when she heard the fridge open. She didn't look over thinking that if she did look Kankuro wouldn't sit with her. She looked up when someone sat down in the chair furthest from her and was surprised to see her other little brother. Her littlest brother. She felt a great amount of shame for a moment and looked back at her rice.
While she was out she had bought some things for herself. She went through the list mentally wondering if he would enjoy any of it.
'Hmm I don't think he'd like nail polish but...' She looked up at him as he ate and she noticed how he hadn't heated up his rice.
"Umm..." She started. Gaara didn't look up from his food. "Hey, there's rice in the microwave." She said quietly.
She felt so guilty as she said it. 'She was his big sister, she shouldn't be so scared of him that she couldn't even help him get some warm rice. She should have an idea of what he liked so that when she failed at being the best big sister she could get him a gift.' The thoughts flew through her mind as she tried not to look at him.
He stood up and got some rice. He stared at the bowl for a moment. She thought he seemed on the verge of saying something when he took a bite and began eating instead. They both finished at the same time and set their bowls in the sink. She turned to say good night to him when she saw him closing his bedroom door.
She washed both bowl's in a strange state of mind.
'Well that wasn't so bad. It wouldn't hurt for it to happen again.' She suddenly stopped mid-thought. 'What am I thinking! He may be my little brother but there is a reason why we can't just...' She shook her head. When it came to Gaara the lines of right and wrong felt a little to blurry for her to think about. 'Dad said not to mess with him, he's killed many shinobi, he's a demon..' The reasons were terrible she knew, but they were reasons.
Kankuro walked into the kitchen and picked up the whole bowl of rice. He sat at the table and pretended Temari wasn't there. She sat down with him and stared into space.
Kankuro sighed. "I forgive you, okay?"
She looked at him as if though she had only just seen him. "Huh?"
Kankuro looked irked. "I thought you were worried I wasn't going to forgive you."
"Oh, thanks." She closed her eyes and groaned.
"What?!" Kankuro asked confused.
"It's Gaara. I ate dinner with him and.." She put her head into her hands.
Kankuro looked at her. "Uhh..well your still alive..so...whats wrong?"
Her head snapped up. "That's what!" Kankuro nearly fell out of his chair.
"Huh?"
"That right there! That 'your still alive' bit!"
Kankuro began to wonder if coming out so soon was that great of an idea.
"How are you able to say that!"
"Uhhh..." He stared at her and shrugged his shoulders.
"Whatever, nevermind. I'm just...I'm gonna go to bed. 'Night." She walked to her room and shut the door leaving behind a severely confused Kankuro.
Me: Just felt a little inspired by your comments. For Dominic von Bismarck, I hope you enjoyed the change in point of view, and thank you for appreciating the slow pace, it's extremely difficult. Also to Hanizuka Mitsukuni, I can't find a beta reader, I've tried several times and they all spaced out on me, or at least I sent them the chapter and they never replied. As for word and grammar, that was the most commented on, I'll try harder on that problem.
13 : Yawn, done?
Me: Oh, right! Just wanted to say thank you to all of you guys, your awesome!
