Author's note: This will probably be the last part of the series, as I haven't thought about it for nine months. I have lost interest and forgot what plans I had for the plot (I have even forgotten the lore of the official Harry Potter books). While there is a slim chance I revisit the story, it is very unlikely. This chapter is unfinished but I decided to publish it since by far it is the best part I have done (not that it is actually good but the first three chapters were bottom of the barrel).
Chapter 4: Hogwarts Express
1 September, 1991
Harry must have been pretty pretty concentrated on his Transfiguration book because he suddenly heard a voice right next to him.
"Hello, can I sit here?"
Harry almost jumped. Next to him was standing a tall boy with red hair and blue eyes. He must have opened and closed the door without Harry noticing. The red haired boy saw the other boy's startling and felt uncomfortable.
"Erm, maybe it was a mistake to come here. Perhaps I should..."
"No, you can stay." Harry hurried to answer.
The red headed boy sat next to Harry.
"What's your name?" Harry asked.
"Ronald Weasley. You can call me Ron. What about yours?"
"Harry Potter." As soon as Harry said those words, Ron screamed.
"WHAT?! Am I really meeting Harry Potter?!" Ron was freaking out.
"Yes, you are. It really isn't a big deal." Ron was dumbfounded by Harry's words. "It's not like I have any special powers."
After this silence covered the compartment. Ron looked like he was some philosopher, trying to figure out why his shoes had shoelaces. Harry tried to resume reading from his Transfiguration book, but he could not focus.
A few minutes later Ron spoke up. "Sorry for my reaction."
"Oh, erm, thanks."
"Do you want to be friends?"
Harry was stunned. Should he become friends with the first person he meets? Although his reaction at Harry's identity was not the best out there, Harry thought that there will be many more people to react like this. Ron did apologize nicely a few minutes later. The choice Harry was going to make was either going to be one of his best or the one of his worst...
"Sure, let's be friends."
"Alright then. What's your favourite subject?"
"I have two actually. Defence against the Dark Arts and Charms."
"My favourite subject is Charms."
The next thirty minutes were spent in talks about Hogwarts. Harry really enjoyed it. Talking with a boy his age with the same interests as him was exciting. But suddenly the compartment's door was opened by a boy with thin black hair and brown eyes. He looked around the compartment, like he was deciding on if it was even worth it to be there. After a few seconds he looked at Ron and Harry.
"Hello, my name is Blaise Zabini..."
"Zabini?" Ron interrupted. "Your mum is pretty suspicious, huh. She was also a Slytherin."
"There is no reason to have prejudice against Slytherins." Blaise responded.
"And what about your Death Eater friends?" Harry got stunned by Ron's words.
"You know that the Ministry does not allow relatives of Death Eaters to study at Hogwarts? And whatever my mum is involved in, it doesn't have anything to do with the Death Eaters." Blaise was trying his best to be calm. "I guess I shouldn't be here. Have a nice hmm... day." Then he exited the compartment.
Ron looked furious. "He didn't even close the door." Ron stood up, went to the doorway and looked around. "Oh, hello." He said. "Hello. Can I come in your compartment?" Harry heard a voice he did not recognize. "Yeah, sure."
The next moment Ron came in the compartment, followed by another boy. He had a round face with a nervous smile.
"My name is Neville Longbottom." The boy said. "What about yours?"
"My name is Ronald Weasley, you can call me Ron. And this here is Harry Potter."
Immediately Neville's smile was replaced by a small "o". "Wow." This was all Neville said. Although his reaction was not as big on the outside as Ron's, Harry was sure that Neville was as surprised, if not more than Ron.
Harry's suspicions were confirmed a few moments later, when Neville tried to walk to a sit, but he tripped and was about to fall to the ground. Luckily, Harry and Ron were able to catch Neville and helped him sit.
"Thanks."
In the next ten minutes Harry and Ron resumed their discussions. While he did not take part in the beginning of the discussion, Neville slowly wore out of his shock and started to participate more and more.
"...So as I was saying, I have a rat, that was given to me by my older brother Charlie. His name is Scabbers. He is a bit..."
At that moment the compartment door was opened by a fifteen year old boy with curly red hair and a "P" badge on his chest. Harry noticed that he had the same type of red hair as Ron.
"Hello Ron. Can I come sit with you and your... friends, probably."
Ron did not look very satisfied with this idea. Just as he prepared to respond, Neville spoke up.
"Let us discuss it."
Neville, Ron and Harry got closer to each other to discuss it silently.
"Is this your brother, Ron?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, he is my brother" Ron sighed. "He is obsessed with rules and he is a nerd in general."
"I don't care about that." Neville said. "What matters is that he is a prefect."
Harry realised this "P" must be standing for prefect.
"And?" Ron asked.
"He can protect us from bullies. I've already seen that you didn't have the nicest time with a boy from our year."
"Zabini deserved it." Ron responded.
"I agree with Neville." Ron was surprised by Harry's words.
"Fine then." Ron sighed. "Alright, Percy you can come to sit here."
Percy came in, sat down on the opposite site of the compartment and left his trunk next to his sit.
"So who are your friends, Ron?" Percy asked.
"This is Neville Longbottom." He pointed at Neville. "And this is Harry Potter."
"So you have managed to meet Harry Potter." Percy said proudly. "Good job, Ron."
Percy's reaction to meeting Harry Potter was by far the best. While he was surprised at the first few moments, he went back to normal again afterwards.
"This year is going to be tough for me." Percy continued. "I have to take O.W. L.-s."
"What is an O.W. L.?" Harry was puzzled.
"An O.W. L. is a test at the end of your fifth year, which defines your future. There are one or two O.W. L.-s for every subject." Percy explained.
The compartment's door was opened a few moments later. It was opened by a girl with bushy brown hair.
"Hello." The girl greeted them. " My name is Hermione Granger. I was forced out of my previous compartment, because the girls in it said I was "too nerdy". Can I come sit here?"
Ron frowned, but Percy did not even look at him. "Yes, you can." Percy said.
Hermione walked in, closed the door behind her and went all the way to the corner of the compartment, far from anyone else.
"They called you "too nerdy"? I don't think anyone can be too nerdy." Percy commented.
"Yeah, we're on the same page." She winked. "I don't think it's nerdy to already know the contents of our books before we even begin the school year."
Ron, Neville and Harry were surprised. "No wonder she was banished from her last compartment." Ron whispered to Harry.
Although Harry had read from his books all summer, he did not try to remember everything. He was reading just for fun.
"You're really smart!" Percy said excitedly.
"Oh, thanks." Hermione blushed.
"I'm not going to watch my brother flirt with an eleven year old." Ron whispered in Harry's year. "I'm going to the loo. Follow me if you want to."
Ron stood up and opened the door. "I have to go to the loo." He said in a rush and closed the door behind him.
Harry thought that it would be rude to make an excuse and leave the compartment. He decided to stay and help Neville who looked quite uncomfortable. Besides, Ron's trunk was in the compartment, so he would return.
The next fifteen minutes Hermione and Percy discussed the different subjects. When she realised that Harry Potter was in the compartment, she started to say everything written about Harry in her "extra literature". Meanwhile, Harry tried to initiate a conversation with Neville. But he was giving short answers, followed by silence. Harry decided that Neville just wanted to be alone and left him.
"...In arithmancy you study the magical properties of numbers..." Percy was talking to Hermione, but his talk was cut short by the scraping sound of the door.
On the doorway stood a very old woman with a cart with a lot of sweets.
"Do you want any sweets?" The woman asked.
Percy murmured something about not having money. Neville said he was not hungry.
"I don't think it's wise to use my money for sweets." Hermione said.
"I'll buy for everyone." Percy, Neville and Hermione looked at Harry. They were in shock.
He bought a large variety of sweets, many of which were Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.
"Hey Harry! Do you want to try Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans together?" Neville asked.
"Yeah, sure."
Harry unpacked a bean that turned out to be green. When he put it into his mouth he was unpleasantly surprised by a very sour taste and a little bit of sweetness.
"Wait Harry-"
"Is this grass?" Harry asked, still eating the green bean. "By "Every Flavour" it means literally every flavour?"
"Yes, I was about to tell you." Neville responded. He gulped nervously and put a bean with a grayish-greenish color.
Moments later he tried to vomit. He did not succeed at that and fell down on the other seat, laying unconscious.
Percy quickly stood up from his seat and went next to Neville and checked his pulse. After a couple of second that seemed like minutes to Harry, Percy announced.
"I thing he'll be fine. Just be careful with the beans, alright?"
Harry sighed in relief as he decided to save some sweets for Ron.
